CHAPTER 18: I’LL HAVE YOU ALRIGHT

Jason was the first to break out of the reverie, he brought his eyes down and cleared his throat.

Ahem ahem, some sick moves you've got there, Jason said. He spoke in English. He had also studied in an English country, so he spent a few years there too.

Oh! Well, i do have some sick moves. No need to be impressed, I'm good like that. She had no intention of just brushing up a compliment from her prince charming so she just took it in her stride.

Jason just smiled, he had already noticed that she was not the shy type and it seems Narcissism is also a second nature to her, well for what it's worth, she does have what it takes to be narcissistic.

So, what are you doing here Mr Li? Wait! She said again and put both of her palms out in front of her. Don't tell me you missed me so much and you decided to follow me and admire my beautiful self? Not that I mind. She added.

Well! That sounds about right, don't tell me you read minds too Miss Ru. Jason said

She just smiled and replied, i might, you never know said Ru Lan.

What are you really doing here Jason? She was used to calling people by their first name and didn't know that to some people it meant something else.

To Jason, this had brought them closer, she was one of the people that called him by his English name and she was the only one who called him like that. Whenever she calls him Jason, it sounded like clear spring or the sound of the first rain on the roof. It was magnetic and boy did he love it.

I saw you outside L&B and when i saw the goons following you earlier, i followed you as well, but i didn't know you'd be so badass, you were so skilled at dealing with them.

Flashback, earlier

Jason was sitting at the back of his blue maybach and reading some documents. He had a meeting with the mayor of City E, the meeting was both a business and a personal meeting, his family and the mayor's family had very close ties.

He raised his head just in time to see a girl walk out of the L&B building, she was on the phone and she was smiling so sweetly, he recognised her as the girl who was plaguing his thoughts by day and dreams by night. He had been looking for her and this was the first time he couldn't get the contact of someone he desperately needed to. When the assistant came back without results, he gave the job to one of his hacker subordinate, but he didn't make any progress, he kept saying that he was constantly been blocked by someone and whenever he almost made progress, a Birdseye photo will just pop up on his screen and he would lose all the progress he had made already. He was hacked so he also gave up on the investigation.

Jason had been bothered non-stop with thoughts of how he could find her, N Nation was huge and he didn't even know if she lived in City E, even though he had seen her in the City twice. But here she was standing in front of him and smiling, he immediately told his driver to stop, because he didn't plan on losing her this time. He was about to step out of the car, when his assistant reminded him that they were already running late.

Cancel the meeting, shift it to tomorrow he said to the assistant.

But, it's the Mayor boss, and this meeting was arranged by the chairman (his grandfather) even before you entered the country. His Assistant Ju Long said

So? What does it have to do with me? He asked his assistant with a glare, his aura was already changing and he was furious.

Assistant Ju was already sweating under his feet, he was really scared of this boss of his and he fisted his hand but decided to speak anyway, i don't think we can push it further boss, he said, they had already called several times to confirm this appointment boss.

Jason looked towards where he saw Ru Lan, moments ago and saw that she was still there, he turned back to Ju Long and gave him a fierce look, do you plan to take responsibility if i lose her again, you were tasked with investigating her and you couldn't even find squat, and now you sit here telling me about the mayor? Who the h*ll does he think he is. By now his eyes were already spitting fire at Ju Long.

Jason did not wait for him to respond before getting out of the car, it was the sound of the car door that was banged so furiously that brought Ju Long back to reality. He looked towards the direction that his boss had walked off to and he also saw the girl they had spared no efforts to look for, but still couldn't find a thing.

He then saw the goons wearing black suits following the girl and his boss following behind them, he sighed. You won't be the death of me boss he said, then he called the office of the mayor and cancelled their appointment, he explained that something especially important had cropped up and they could not make it.

By the time he finished his call, he got off his car and followed after his boss, ah liu and two other guards were already following him, so he just joined them. And they all enjoyed a very interesting show with their boss.

Flashback ends.

So you cancelled and important business meeting, just to follow me? She asked when he finished explaining.

Yup! He replied

I'm that special? She asked

You have no idea. He replied with a genuine smile. She saw it and knew he meant what he had said but she just pretented to know nothing.

Are you sure it was important, and you were not just stalking me? She asked him again.

It was with the mayor. He said.

Let me get this straight, you cancelled a business meeting with city council just because you wanted to follow me, when you could have just called me? She asked

Yes, i already said that, and i couldn't call you, you didn't leave your contact the last time he said. He was already getting frustrated with her questions.

She slightly scrunched up her eyebrows and bent her head to the side as if to she could read his mind by doing that, when she realised that she couldn't, she gave up and smiled.

Well! I did give you a good show, so you didn't waste your trip or time, and i'm not even asking for any form of payment. She said

You can. He replied

Huh! She asked, she didn't understand what he meant.

I mean you can ask for payment if you want, it really was a good show and i hate owing people. He said

She opened her eyes wide and smiled at him as if she was in deep thought. Her eyes landed on the assistant and the two guards standing not too far behind him, she was calculating how much she could actually collect, if she were to charge them. She decided against it at the last minute, she didn't want to taint her image in the heart of this handsome human.

Nah! She said, i'm just messing with you, how could i charge you for watching me and trying to protect me. She smiled at him.

Come on let's get out of here, its kindda creepy. She said

Okay sure. He said

I'm a little hungry. You still owe me dinner right, she asked him

It would be my honour if you'd have me. Jason said

Alarm bells immediately rang in Ru Lan's head the moment she heard him say that. she smiled evilly and said...

I'll have you all right, it's my pleasure. There was an hidden meaning in what she said, Jason had seen her sly smile, but he just couldn't place it.

Jason felt something was wrong with that statement on so many levels, but he couldn't quite place it. But before he could think more about it, he suddenly felt a soft smooth hand holding his. She was holding his hand.

Come on, i know a place Ru lan said and she dragged him out of the alley.
