CHAPTER 28: OFFICIALLY A COUPLE

Ru Lan was a bit taken aback by what he said and she was slightly disappointed and the light in her eyes dimmed in sadness, but she quickly composed herself and acted like she didn't hear anything. She sat on the ground atop the hill and gestured for Jason to come sit with her.

Jason was thinking of how to tell her that he had wanted to marry her and spend the rest of his life with her, he was too scared of the outcome and didn't want to push her away. He sat down on the ground beside her and just looked at the beautiful side profile of her face. Now they were sitting side by side. It was a beautiful view. If only they were a couple. He released a breath of relief as well as tiredness and looked up to the sky.

It was a full moon night tonight hence it was not so dark out. He couldn't help but look up and the sky above was a feast for the eyes. It stretched as far as the eyes could see. Stars filled the sky like pale corn into freshly turned ground it was a promise of life in the darkness, a sense of warmth springing from the cold night air.

The night sky was such a welcome sight appearing like magic when he thought he needed it the most, starts shone like sugar spilt over black marble. He needed a sign just to assure him that he was on the right track, he couldn't help but think that this is the moment. He got the confidence boost he needed from the night sky. He wanted to ask her out for real but before he could even get the words out, he heard her speak again.

Look Jason, i realise that i have been a little forward all day. Ru Lan broke the silence.

A little? Jason asked, he wanted to tease her as well as that is what she had been doing to him all day. He had noticed it but just decided to play along.

She was surprised at what he said so she snapped and said, Okay! Maybe a lot forward, but i'm not gonna apologise. I know that girls are not suppose to take the initiative with this kinds of things, and i didn't even ask you before telling everyone that you are my boyfriend. I'm sorry if it was too much, i'm just not your regular girl and i don't do girly girls stuff. She said.

Hmm! Well, you really aren't a regular girl and i have seen it firsthand today. Jason said and looked at the girl who was saying all this with a straight face. She wasn't shy one bit. He stifled a laugh when he saw how cute she was been while trying to look all serious. You really aren't a regular girl Jason thought.

Okay! Now that we have gotten that out of the way, i have to tell you that i wasn't acting earlier. Everything that i said today was things that i said and did today were real and it would be great if you would be my boyfriend for real. She said again and looked at Jason expectantly.

You totally stole my line. Jason said

She frowned as that was not the answer she was expecting from him, so she decided to sell some of her good points to him. She would never let him go. She wouldn't even mind locking him out here in Daisy's Place if he doesn't agree to date her. She would kidnap him and keep him here. She smiled evilly in her mind when she thought of this. Sounds like a good plan she thought to herself. That was her plan B, but she needed to initiate plan A first so she stated talking.

You have nothing to lose by dating me Jason, look at me, i'm tall, rich, and beautiful, i love nature, i know how to fight, my family background is one that will give you a heart attack if you knew, i know how to enjoy life, though I can't cook but since you can cook, i can even give you the fulfilment of having someone that knows how to enjoy food eat the meals you make. Plus i'm a doctor. You will never find a girl in N Nation better than me, in fact scratch that, you'll never find a girl in the whole world that can match me.

Come to think of it, i'm holding the short end of the stick here by asking you out, that's what you are supposed to be doing. When she finished talking, she saw that Jason was just looking at her without saying a word. She didn't feel the least bit shy or found anything wrong with what she said.

Hmm! I don't know... you really are beautiful and all but so are so many girls out there. Besides i'm a pretty hot cake myself. Jason said, he was really enjoying this. How could she not see how much he loved her.

Ru Lan was furious by now, so she stood up abruptly, what do you mean you don't know? She said. Her voice was especially loud now and the still night intensified it.

Jason covered his ears and looked at her while shaking his head. Do you want to make me deaf now so that you'll be the only one that will want me in the future? He asked her jokingly.

Sounds like a good plan. Ru Lan said, then she added, i don't think deaf will cut it. they'll still want you. Maybe i should just dig your eyes out.

Hahahaha! Jason couldn't hold his laughter anymore. She was so funny and he loved every sides of her. So he decided to add a little spice and know how she will respond so he said, but i'm already a man with a fiancé and even though i don't love her, my Grandmother likes her a lot and wants me to marry her. So i don't really have a choice, and even if i want to date you, i can't be that unfair to you.

That's easy, i can take care of that fiancé for you. It will just add a little more fun to our relationship if i have your fiancé to play with. As long as you love me and not her, then its no problem. Ru Lan said.

Hm. Jason said while placing his thumb under his chin as if he was in deep thoughts. He was yet to say something else when Ru Lan talked again.

If you already have a fiancé why are your mother, Jun and mei trying to match you and me. They never mentioned anything about you having a fiancé.

I've been wondering about that as well, i don't understand why Jun and mei would do that. But my Mother and Grandmother don't get along. They are like oil and water. They don't mix, and my mother always tries to do the opposite of whatever Grandmother wants. Jason said.

Ru Lan cocked her brow as if waiting for him to continue the story. Don't ask. It's a story for another day. Don't forget your promise of dealing with my so called fiancé Jason said.

Wait! Does that mean that you've agreed? Ru Lan asked him

He held her hand and made her sit beside him once again. Then he said, you stole my line remember, i was going to ask you to date me before you asked. He said

Then what was that bullsh*t that just happened? She asked him

I was just messing with you he said and smiled at her. So Miss Daisy Ru, will you grant me the honour of having you as my girlfriend? He asked her while still holding her hand.

It's not Daisy Ru she said. But it will be my honour Mr Li so YES. She said

Not Daisy Ru? He asked her.

Ru Lan she said or you can call me by my birth given name. She said

And your birth given name is? He asked Daisy Brianna Kelton she said.

He was shocked when he heard her name. Kelton? Like the Keltons in the North? He asked

Yes! Like the Keltons in the North she said.

Don't worry, I'll tell you about it later. We need to enjoy this moment first She said. She wanted to enjoy the moment they officially became a couple before going down memory lane and diving into history.

Sure! He said, we really ought to enjoy it because i have been looking for you for five years phoenix.

She was already basking in happiness and the joy of the moment but she he was shocked when she heard what Jason said, and what did he just call me? He called me phoenix, could it be my imagination or did he really remember me? She thought. Her mind did not even register what Jason had called her. Most of the people that knew she was Phoenix didn't live long enough to tell it to another soul.

The only people that knew who she really was were her family and there was no way that Jason could know. But she was more concerned about the fact that Jason actually remembered her, than the fact that her secret identity was exposed. Love really does make some people foolish.
