Chapter 16: Permission

Ēn Chén entered the grandiose living room of the giant apartment he and his father-in-law had been living in together for the past two years since being back in America. It was the same apartment he had lived in for his short three months before he left on the plane with Klara ten years ago. Andrew hadn't moved in all that time, not since his Trin died. And despite having been away for so long, when he had come back, Andrew had welcomed him with open arms. Knowing very well that he had no other place to go.

Even though Klara had been his wife for little more than a year to Andrew, Ēn Chén was and always would be family. He didn't need to know what he had been doing abroad for ten years, who he loved. This was the person Klara had loved with all her heart and soul before she died. That was all Andrew needed.
