She's Back

My paternal grandfather is still the head of the Wu family, with the family having survived for over twenty generations. Still alive and kicking, his iron grip is undoubtedly respected by the whole household. No one will ever speak or even change his mind on matters he has decided on, not even my good-for-nothing father can oppose him. But although I‌ had been a disgrace since a scandal (a twelve year old young miss having a scandal is not as uncommon as you think), he had never taken back my right as his descendant.

I‌ was too naive, sheltered of the scheming world, and believing the people who I‌ thought was my family. I, a merely twelve years old at that time, was sent abroad for five years to hide my wrongdoings, the things that I‌ have pleaded over and over that I‌ did not omit. Now as I‌ am back, I‌ will let these people who had wronged me taste their own medicine. I am really grateful for my grandfather who did not give up on me and will let me start anew, I‌ have returned to take back what they have robbed me and demand blood for blood.

My phone rang just as I‌ came out of the plane. I‌ would've ignored it as I check the name of the caller, but this may be the first time in five years that my father is the one who will deliberately call me, so I answered.

"Alice, come directly to the hospital."

I frowned and waited for the other person to continue speaking. "Your grandmother had a stroke and was rushed at the Second Hospital an hour ago. Your mother and sister are not here at the moment."

"Hmm." With that, I‌ hung up.

I never thought my father would know about my whereabouts or that I‌ am going back. Could it be that grandfather cannot shut his mouth after all? ‌I might as well visit my grandmother as to show that her unfilial granddaughter has returned. She might have another heart attack. I‌ smiled as I‌ thought of ways to shock the old woman.

For the whole time ‌I was staying abroad, I‌ only had three suitcases that carries all my belongings. I have lived a simple life, and if not for grandfather who had come to me personally to invite me back to the household, perhaps ‌I would never go back. The scheming ways of people who wanted to be on top of the food chain, the public and private disputes for inheritance and a lot of underhanded dealings that would make one disgraced of being called a human. I can only shake my head, as ‌I have become a victim at such a young age. If only my mother had been strong enough to fight off the leeches that has sucked on my father's thigh, instead of wasting her life in alcohol and drug abuse, then things could've… I shake my head again, knowing that one could not change the past anymore.

I hear another ring from my phone and decided to not receive it again, in case it was my father who may have been pissed of me hanging up the phone a while ago. When I‌ look at the screen, ‌I unintentionally smiled. A loud voice suddenly filled the area and I had to make a space for my ear and phone to avoid damaging my hearing.

"A.Li.Ce! You B*tch! I‌ knew it!‌ You were leaving!!! Why didn't you tell me? I‌ could've gone together with you! You know I‌'m going back too!"

"Oh. I‌ didn't realized. How many times have you reminded me that?" I paused for an added dramatic effect. "Twenty?‌ Forty times?" I‌ chuckled. "You were even bragging me that you will hold your banquet without me."

"B*tch, I was being depressed that I‌ won't have you with me in my debut, but you went ahead and came back without telling me! I HATE‌‌ YOU‌, like, a lot right now!"

"Les, I'll explain when you get here. Of course I‌ will prepare a party for you as soon as you land. So don't worry your little mind about adult's matters."

"WHO‌‌ ARE YOU SAYING AN ADULT! I'M OLDER THAN YOU! WAIT TILL I GET THERE! IMMA KICK YOUR ASS!"

"I‌ love you too. Ciao."

She was shouting so loud ‌I can feel my ears ringing even after the call. Leslie won't get angry for long anyway, and is probably in a flight right now as we speak. I‌ chuckled as I‌ wonder what the people's reaction around her right now. But even though she can be crazy sometimes, never have I‌ had a sworn sister that I‌ treat more than my own blood family.

As I walked down the aisle and out of the airport, I breathed hard twice to let go of the stuffy feeling in my chest. It's time. There are no exceptions for what I will put all those people all through! And if I cannot put you all down in this lifetime, we'll see each other in hell and trust me, it will be much more miserable.
