"So, that's the plan then, got it?"
We were gathered in the middle where Anna, Beatrice, and Roberto were fighting our target a couple minutes before, and I had just finished explaining my plan to them.
"Wait, lemme get this straight, if this doesn't work, you're leaving how to deal with her to us?" Ryan said, scowling at me.
"Yep."
"Hold up, why the sudden change of heart? If it were up to us, we would rather just kill her and bring her back that way; it would be much easier. Are you that confident about your plan?"
I looked down, frowning. "Well, it's more that I'm not confident. It's more of a gut feeling at this point, which is what this entire plan is based off of. If it doesn't work, I really don't have much options left. It's not as if I can capture her and bring her back kicking and screaming, she'll just teleport away."
"Hate to admit it, but the kid's right. We can't waste too much more time on this. We can't exactly leave her be, she's too much of a liability." Roberto sighed out, adjusting his energy gloves. "But this plan is risky. You sure you'll be alright?"
I looked down at my steaming body, still battered and bruised from the beating I took from Christopher, not to mention the explosion I barely dodged at point-blank range. "I won't be alone, Anna will be there to help as well."
I turned to Anna, nodding at her. "I'm going to leave the rest of the fighting to you, got it?"
"That is what Master should have done from the beginning," Anna muttered.
"I don't need the back talk ma'am."
"Oh, Anna is so sorry." I swear, for not openly showing emotions, she sure is sassy at times.
"Anyway, it'll all depend on her," I said, gazing towards the lonesome white building in the distance, "and what she wants to do…"
-----------------------------
I watched the Rip Off struggle against her collar, trying to rip it off as she fought against the man who had held her captive.
I took a deep breath and felt myself get picked up by Anna.
Well, there are worse ways to go about this.
"Batter up."
I shot upwards into the air, only for me to reappear at the top, glaring at the fat fuck.
"Wha-!"
I used all my momentum to punch him square in his fat face. I felt it cave in from the force, sending him flying backwards like a bowling bowl, crashing into his pins (AKA, his guards).
I flew upwards a bit before falling onto the roof, rolling to a stop in front of the Rip Off.
I slowly got to my feet, glaring all of remaining adversaries down.
"NOW, LEAVE MY FRIEND ALONE YOU FUCKING SICKOS!"
I grabbed the model and brought her close, growling.
"FROM NOW ON, SHE'S WITH ME! ANYONE WHO WANTS HER IS GONNA GET THEIR ASS KICKED BY YOURS TRULY!"
…
In truth, that was a bluff. I didn't have the energy left to fight against all those guys. Plus that fall only added to the damage I received.
But, luckily for me, I didn't really need to fight.
"Yo-you're insane, you know that?"
I looked down at Model 38118121520205, patting her head. "You might be right about that, Miku, no, Model 38118—okay, you know what, that's way too much of a mouthful for me to consistently say.
"So, how about Charlotte instead? Anyway, I might seem crazy, but I have good plan on getting us out of here."
Her eyes widened as she heard her name. "Wha, Charlotte? I, is that, my name?"
"Oh, do you not like it? I think it suits you better than that long ass Model number or Miku Rip Off anyway, but I can always come up with a different one."
She shook her head, starting to cry. "No way, I love it!"
Woah, she's actually kinda cute when she smiles like that. I shook my head, looking down at the collar. "Now then, let's see what I can do about this collar. Uh, this thing can come off, right?"
"D-damn Hero, h-how d-d-dare you…" Ah shit, he didn't get knocked out!?
I watched the fat guy get back up, holding his bloodied face. "Yo-you'll pay for this with yo—AGH!"
I watched Anna dropkick him from the sky, his face crashing into the floor before he started to foam at the mouth. At the precise moment he fell unconscious, Charlotte' collar broke into two, falling to the ground with a loud thud before dissipating with green energy.
"Uh, I guess that was easier than I thought it would be…"
Anna flew over in front of me, looking down at Charlotte. "Charlotte did well to ask Master for help. Master is officially useless now however, so leave the fighting to Anna."
"Re-really? But I thought you were quite strong?" Charlotte said, frowning as she looked at me.
"Nah, I struggled against Christopher. If it wasn't for that energy capsule, I might be dead now."
"Even with the energy capsule Master almost died, hence why Anna will take it from here. Configure Mode 5893." I watched her arms turn into spiked energy chains, her eyes focusing in on the enemies surrounding us.
"Neutralizing targets now."
She rushed forward and started to fight against the rather distraught soldiers, and I sighed, falling to the ground before leaning against the railing.
I'm just going to let Anna do her thing; she seems happy now that I'm relying on her more.
"U-um, Hiro?"
"Yeah, I'm Hiro. What's up Charlotte?" I watched the azure colored haired girl sit down next to me, watching Anna wreck face.
"I uh, just wanted to say thanks is all. I remembered what really happened now, thanks to you."
"Nah, you always had it in yah. I didn't do jack."
"Seriously? I really don't get you at all. You didn't even have a reason for wanting to save me at first."
"I think it's fine if I find the reason I wanna save someone after the fact," I said, continuing to watch Anna fight. "Although in the end I did it more for Blake rather than myself."
Her eyes focused in on me before she turned away. "Charlotte huh…" A small smile grew on her face before she shot up. "Alright, I'm going to help Mrs. S Grade. I'm not going to let her one up me!"
"Have fun. I'll be here, cheering for you internally while my body tries to recover from getting almost exploded; you know, the usual job description."
She teleported away, into the fray of the battlefield, and I let out another weary sigh, smiling at Charlotte.
"Although if you ask me, I just now found my reason for why I wanted to save you."
That smile of hers really does wonders to heal a man's aching soul…
--------------------------
They finished up the enemies in less than 10 minutes after Charlotte joined up, which shocked even me. I knew she was strong, but that strong? It gives me shivers to think about what she could have really done if she went all out.
After that, Anna flew me back down towards Roberto's approaching squad, Charlotte teleporting along the way.
We landed about 2 and half miles away from their base, much to the surprise of everyone.
"Oi kid, you're already done? And you managed to bring the model with you?"
I nodded, looking to see Charlotte sheepishly walk forward before mussing up her hair. "It went a lot quicker once she started helping Anna. Isn't that right Charlotte?"
"Oh, shush already, I'm not a kid," she grumbled, brushing off my hand.
Rachel whistled, crossing her arms. "Well damn, he actually managed to bring her back. That's impressive. I still wouldn't mind killing her though."
"Hey, stop that," I said, but Charlotte shook her head, bowing down.
"No, I probably deserve it after everything I put you guys through. If you want to kill me, that-!"
"SHADDUP!" I hit her on the top of the head, causing her to wince slightly (although even I knew that wouldn't hurt her; she was as tough as iron).
"I already told you, didn't I!? You're with me! Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who was a problem with that, can take it up with me. Lift your head up already damnit."
She did as she was told, and I ruffled up her hair before glaring Roberto's squad down. "She's my friend, first and foremost. Even if I have to beat up everyone here, she's coming back alive. Understood?"
There was tense moment of silence before Rachel started to laugh nervously. "Alright, relax, it was just a joke. No need to go that far Hiro."
I continued to glare her down, and Roberto scratched his head. "In any case, what's up with you naming every Model you see? There a reason wh-!"
BOOOOOM!
The entire ground shook as a blast of wind came roaring towards us, almost making me fall over.
"The hell was that!?" I turned around to see the ATF's impromptu base blown to pieces, causing the metal/glass/sand concoction to whip up into the air.
The building caused loud booms that shook the ground, the wasteland taking in yet another one of mankind's achievements.
"Tch, it was Antonio, that fat motherfucker!" Charlotte growled out. "He must've woken up and blew the headquarters sky high! Damnit, all the potential evidence is gone as well! FUCK, I KNEW I SHOULD'VE KILLED HIM!"
I shielded my eyes, unable to see anything through the dust storm that was making it's way towards us.
"Sir, we have to go back! We can't do anything, and if that dust storm hits us, we'll all be dead!" Rosie yelled out.
Roberto clicked his tongue, turning around. "Alright, we're leaving, now! Unless you wanna get caught up in that thing, move!"
I watched Charlotte clench her fists, glaring at the approaching storm. "Hey, it'll be okay. Let's go, you've done enough here already."
She bit down on her lip, and I watched tears streak down her face before getting lost in the wind. "Damnit, fine then. We'll be outta here quickly."
Wha-!
Before I knew it, I was already miles away from the storm, just a dot in the distance, and shortly after that the rest of Roberto's squad appeared next to me, just as confused.
"Wait, I've been traveling the normal way for so long!? Who knew fast travel was this great!?"
Anna appeared next to me, looking me up and down. "Master is being weird again."
"I don't wanna hear that from you!"
Lastly, Charlotte appeared, gazing at the tiny dot.
"I swear to you all, I won't let your deaths be in vain," she murmured, clutching Blake's jacket closer to her.
I patted her shoulder, looking towards the growing dot. "If it was really important, odds are we won't have been seeing the last of what they were searching."
But, more importantly…
"Hey Roberto! Can I say it!?"
He waved me off, rolling his eyes. "Knock yourself out kid, whatever makes you feel better."
I took a deep breath of that fresh wasteland air, looking around at everyone.
"Well, it was long, hard, and I passed out quite a bit after each time I came here. There were shocks, fights were had, and honestly, I'd really rather not come back to this hell if I have too."
But…
"But, with this, I can officially say:
I jumped up into the air, screaming it out.
"I FUCKING DID IT AGAIN BITCHES! MISSION COMPLETE!"
There were no resounding cheers this time, but instead one satisfied smile from a girl who had lost it all.
And Thus, Completes Hiro's Hiro Triumph.
