"U-urgh, I hate this…"
I collapsed to my knees, having just exited out of the portal. I don't know if I'm just not built for time travel, but this is really annoying.
"Uh, will he be okay?" Charlotte asked, peering into my face.
"Master will be okay; it happens every time."
I shakily got to my feet, shaking my head. "I-I'll just push through as usual. Time Travel Sickness ain't got nothing on me… Urgh…"
I followed the two back to the Hand's room? Conference room? I dunno what the place is called actually. Anyway, I'm calling it Sword Room since Tempus is there. We headed back to the Sword Room, catching glances as they saw we had successfully brought back Charlotte.
"Woah, they didn't kill this traitor? This new Hero is soft."
"Well, he did take out 100 enemies and save Roberto's Squad. I think he deserves some credit for doing that at least, even if he didn't kill that Model. We would be worse for wear if they weren't around."
"He also didn't kill them either; again, if he can't kill anything, how can he possibly do his job?"
"He's got balls at least. I doubt you would've been able to take them out. And in some ways it's harder to knock out people rather than kill them."
"I'm not buying it till he's able to kill something with his own hands."
Seriously? Tough crowd I guess.
"Hey kid, we'll be leaving you now. We deserve some nice R&R after all the shit we've gone through. Adios."
I waved Roberto and his squad goodbye, leaving the two girls alone with me.
I watched one squad having a mock battle against a mech outside in the pouring rain while walking to our destination, and stopped to take a look.
"Something wrong Master?"
I placed my hand against the glass, frowning. "Why is it always raining here?"
"Ah, apparently the first Hero really liked rain, so it's permanently like that here now." Charlotte said, pulling out a lollipop.
"Seriously? It must suck living here with all the rain."
"No, not really. The sleeping quarters can change the ambient sounds according to the user's preferences and are also soundproof, so you really only need to deal with it when walking around. Most recreational areas are soundproofed for that reason, although some of the training grounds are outside since the heavy rain makes for good practice."
I continued to watch, seeing them practice a variety of tactics to try to take out the 20+ foot tall mecha.
"I actually don't know much about this place, huh?" I murmured to myself, clenching my fist.
"Master, we do not want the Director to get mad at us again."
I turned away from window, nodding. "Yeah, let's hurry it up. I would like to be able to sleep at a reasonable time today."
We continued, walking through the white hallways, passing by squads as the three of us were silent, until we finally reached the door.
I placed my hand on it, causing it to unseal with a whoosh, it swinging open before stopping with a loud thud.
"I see you managed to complete your mission rather well. And you're not missing any hair this time either!"
I walked in, glaring at him. "Oh shut up. You would hate it if you had to forcefully cut off that afro."
He laughed, getting up from his chair. "Did Roberto already leave you? Shame, I wanted to tease him for getting saved by you."
Is this guy seriously the leader of the organization? "He said he and his squad needed some R&R."
He walked up to us, looking at the two girls by my side. "Look at you, already getting a harem!"
"Oh thanks man, you know this is exactly what I wanted. Now can we cut the crap and hurry this along? I'm tired."
He noticed the slight steam coming off me, frowning. "Did you blow up?"
"Master indeed blew up."
He leaned in closer, looking me up and down. "Well, I doubt that's the only reason why you're tired."
"Yeah, yeah, listen, I finished up my Triumphs already right? So all I got left is the Triumph of Blue?"
He walked away, leaning against the table. "Yep, considering you single-handedly took out 100 enemies on your own, I think that should more than cover it."
"Wait, that was the Triumph?" I tilted my head, frowning. "Shouldn't it be that I brought Charlotte here back safe and sound?"
He stared at me for a moment before starting to laugh. "Oh man, you really are something. I guess that could be it as well, but are you sure?"
"Uh, why wouldn't I be? I think that's the more impressive feat."
He patted me on the shoulder, smiling. "Well, too late. It's already been put down that that was your 2nd Triumph. Sorry about that."
"If that was the case then the hell was the point of this conversation!?"
He waved me off, turning towards Charlotte. "Enough about that, let's talk about you. You also have a name?"
"Uh, yes sir. It's Charlotte, but you already heard that."
"I see. Well then Charlotte, let's talk about punishments, hmm? Regardless of your reasons, you did defect. That alone means death for a Model, but you already knew that, right?"
Huh? I looked back to Charlotte, who nodded. "I know, and I'm already prepared to accept that."
"Wait a damn moment!" I positioned myself in front of Charlotte, glaring at the Director. "I've already said this twice, but I guess I need to say it thrice in order for it to stick. Charlotte is with me, and if you wanna get to her, you'll have to get through me first. I don't care if you are my boss, I'll beat you to a bloody pulp if you try to do anything to her!"
"M-Master…" Anna pulled on my sleeve, shaking her head. "It would be unwise to do this."
"I don't give a damn! If I can't beat him, I'll just fire her so she can do whatever the hell she wants! But regardless, you're not doing a damn thing!"
All this Model discrimination is really getting on my nerves. It wasn't even her fault, so what the hell? I clenched my fist, only for Charlotte to grab it.
"Wha—the heck are you doing?" I turned to look back at her, clutching her jacket close.
"I appreciate it, but it'll be alright. I have something to say to him anyway. But, I don't plan on dying today. It'll be a waste to my comrades who died." She looked up at me, and I felt my anger unwind as I started to relax again.
"Master, it would be prudent of us to leave now."
I sighed, nodding towards Anna. "Yeah, alright. Let's go home. But if I find out something's happened to her, I will fuck you up, got it?"
The director raised his hands, chuckling. "Ooh, scary. We'll see how it goes. Tata for now Hiro, let's talk more once you're feeling better!"
I turned around and walked out the room, the door closing behind me with a loud boom.
-------------------------
"Now then, Charlotte, now that we've got the dramatics out of the way, tell me what you found out from your mission."
I sighed, crunching down on my lollipop. "They were researching some sort of scythe. I wished I could've brought it with me, but something told me that it would've been really bad for me if I touched the thing."
He nodded, heading back to his chair, I close behind him. "There were similar artifacts, but they were too damaged for me to figure out. But it seemed to be a pretty big discovery. The entire building was basically dedicated to researching these objects. I don't know why they couldn't bring it back with them to the present, but odds are there was a reason for it."
He sat back down, resting his head on his hands. "And?"
I clenched my fists, remembering the collar I was forced to wear. "Two of the ATF Commanders were there."
He narrowed his gaze. "Who?"
"Somnus and Phobos. Somnus is the reason why I defected. He messed with my memories and placed me under control of the one in charge of the research, the fat motherfucker Antonio, while Phobos showed me something unforgivable."
He sighed. "I see, so it was something major after all. Anything else?"
I shook my head. "No sir, they wouldn't let me anywhere near the research facilities."
He leaned back in his chair, his eyes starting to lose focus as he became lost in thought. "Alright, good job on your mission, even if you had to become a spy for a bit. You're free to go; the information you provided was more than useful."
I bowed down. "Th-thank you sir…"
"Besides, I'd rather not piss off our Hero at this critical stage. Just one more push and he'll be fully accepted into our organization. He seems to have grown rather fond of you, just like his partner."
I could feel my face burning at his words. It still shocked me, hearing someone say all that with such emotion behind it not once, not twice, but three times. I don't even know if Blake could do something like that. "He is an intriguing one, to say the least."
"Yep, and I have the perfect Triumph for him to complete as well. Of course, even if he figures out my plan, he won't refuse, considering his past with it." He waved me away, and just as I reached the door, he continued.
"By the way, I won't bail you out again if you pull this stunt again. It only worked because you're the second strongest Model this organization has, and with Hiro backing you, my hands are rather tied. Count yourself lucky."
I bit my lip, watching the door open as I teleported down the hallway.
I won't do something like that again, don't worry.
I glanced down at the piece of paper Anna had given me, memorizing it before teleporting it outside, where it became lost in the heavy storm.
After all, I still have something I need to do.
"If I ever find those two damned Commanders, I'll kill them. I swear, I will avenge you all."
-------------------------
"I'm back."
I took off my shoes, yawning as I saw Luna approach me.
"Welcome home!" She tackled me, rubbing up against me.
"OHO! I get my Luna reserves filled without coming to you first! Oh, man, I needed this after the day I had."
Luna released me, sniffing the air. "Uh, Big Bro? Why do you smell like that?"
Ah, I forgot I smell like explosion. "Uh, it's a long story Lis Sis. I'll take a shower now to get it off."
I got back up, heading towards the stairs before stopping. "Oh yeah, Dad will be back sometime next week, but don't tell Lesty that, alright?"
She nodded, grinning her adorableness at full blast. "Rodger Dodger! Oh, dinner will be ready soon, so when you get out of the shower, come down and eat!"
Can't believe I actually managed to finish by 7 today, I thought as I went up the stairs, smiling at my Luna reserves being filled. "Oh man, I hope the food is something good."
I walked into my room to find a short girl with azure colored hair peeking at my games. "Oh hey, you finally showed up. I thought for-!"
I slammed my door, shaking my head. Nah, I must be imagining it. I opened it again to see the same girl pouting near the doorway, a lollipop in her mouth.
"That isn't cool you know! And after I ca-!"
I slammed the door again, rubbing my temples. "Oh man, I really must be tired if I'm hallucinating girls in my room."
The door opened again, revealing Charlotte glaring at me. "Seriously!? What's up with you? Can't you at le-!"
I slammed the door for the third time, just as Lesty was walking out of her room.
"Hey, why are you slamming the door so much? And you smell weird, take a shower." She raked her hand through her hair, yawning as she went downstairs. "I hope my cute daughter is ready to get squashed during dinner today."
I waited until she was down the stairs before I slid down to the floor.
WHY THE HELL IS THERE ANOTHER ONE IN MAH DAMN HOUSE!?
No wait, enough of that, how'd the hell did she even find this place!? The only one who knows where I live would be…
"Anna, you son of a bitch!"
I shot up, storming into her room to find her changing into loungewear.
"OI, why the hell are you telling people where I live!?"
Anna turned to me, tilting her head. "Anna thought Master was adopting Charlotte as well?"
"What the hell makes you think I've been adopting you!?"
"Hey Hiro, the hell was that about? Why'd you gotta slam the door on me so much? Is that how you treat adoptees?"
"I'm not adopting anyone!"
I sighed, feeling my blood pressure rise. These girls will be my undoing, I swear.
Charlotte squeezed through the doorway, standing next to Anna. "Well, it's not like I have anywhere else to go. Models only get rooms with their partners, and my old one is dead while my new one doesn't live on site sooo…"
She plopped down onto the bed, grinning at me. "I'll be staying here for the foreseeable future!"
Ah, I'm fucked. No way in hell I can successfully hide 2 girls from both my parents.
"Fine, but make sure my parents don't find out. If they do, I'll have to explain that I'm working for an organization where I nearly die every mission, and then I really will die."
"Alright, this place is pretty swanky! Oh, what were those things I saw in your room? I've never seen them before," Charlotte asked, teleporting right in front of me as she leaned in close.
"I'll tell you later, for now I have a hot date with an even hotter shower." I closed the door behind me, walking back towards my room before a thought crossed my mind.
"Ah, Anna was totally half-naked in there, wasn't she?"
…
"DANGIT, I WAS SO MAD THAT I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE! I WANTED TO BURN THAT IN MY MEMORY! AGH!"
And thus ended another day for our Hiro.
