The Warehouse

Grabbing the baseball bat, Wang Ming tried to yank the bat out of the driver's hands. But he felt no resistance at all, which made him unbalanced, almost falling over. Stabilizing himself, Wang Ming held the bat in front of his face, ready to defend his head from another attack. But the attack never came.

"Hey, boy, I don't know what you are doing here. But you don't look like a bad kid, so take the bat and protect yourself. You are probably here for the person who just shouted. I'm only a middle-aged man working to take care of my family. So I won't involve myself in this. But good luck!"

Saying this, the taxi driver then drove away in a hurry. The taxi driver had worked in this business for over 20 years, he had driven all kinds of people, criminals, murders and also robbers. But he knew as long as he didn't talk and focused only on driving, he would be fine.

Seeing the taxi driver drive away, Wang Ming felt stunned. Everything happened so fast, but the most important thing now was to save Qiao Meng. Hearing the shouts earlier, Wang Ming recognized the voice. It was Qiao Meng's. He had heard them from inside the warehouse. There was nothing here except from a lot of barren land and this warehouse building.

Before Wang Ming entered the warehouse, he checked out Qiao Meng's car, which she had parked behind a bush. Since her car is a police car, she should have some police equipment which could help him.

Wang Ming didn't know what he would face inside the warehouse, so he wanted to give himself the best chance of winning. Seeing Qiao Meng's car unlocked, Wang Ming looked inside to find some equipment that could help him, but Wang Ming found nothing at all. He couldn't believe that a police car didn't have any weapons or protection items. Though since Qiao Meng is in the traffic division, they usually pack light.

But then Wang Ming remembered that some police cars would store any bulky equipment like bulletproof vests, shotguns, rifles and also first aid kits in the trunk and not in the front. Though he also knew that they would only have equipment specific to their assignments, he did not know if there would be anything in this car.

Walking to the back and opening the trunk, Wang Ming felt glad to see that there was a bulletproof vest inside. Not only this, there was also a revolver and a first aid kit. Wang Ming had had no training with firearms before, but fortunately for him this was a revolver.

Wang Ming still remembered when he was little his mom had bought him a toy revolver many times. The toy revolver had a red plastic head on the barrel so it couldn't shoot anything, but would make the sound of a gunshot if you put in the ammo that came with it.

Looking at the revolver, Wang Ming saw that the toy revolver almost looked identical to a real revolver. Locating and pressing the button to release the cylinder. Checking the cylinder, Wang Ming saw that there was still one bullet inside it, he had found no other bullets in the trunk which meant he only has 1 shot. He would need to use it wisely.

Seeing the metal bullet inside the cylinder, Wang Ming understood that this is a real gun. One that if fired at the wrong target could take the life of a good person. Thinking about this, he felt his hands starting to tremble. Wang Ming had killed many animals in his life, but never a human being. Taking a deep breath, he tried not to think about it.

Wang Ming had to hurry as he heard even more shouting. Wearing the bulletproof vest and putting the revolver in its holster and strapping it around his waist. Wang Ming then took the bat in his hands and cautiously walked towards the warehouse which was roughly 10 meters away.

Walking towards the door, step by step, Wang Ming concentrated on his surroundings. He felt like he could feel and see everything in a few meters radius. But as he was in front of the door, Wang Ming heard a loud beep from his phone, which gave him a big scare.

He was afraid that someone had heard his phone, so he hurriedly ran behind the wall, but looking around he couldn't see or hear any movement. Looking at his phone, he saw he had over 20 missed calls. But since this wasn't the time for him to fiddle with his phone, he sent a message out before shutting down his phone and putting it in his pocket.

Then, taking a deep breath, Wang Ming cautiously approached the door and opened it. Entering the building, Wang Ming only saw a set of stairs going up. Coming inside he realized that this wasn't a simple abandoned warehouse, since the door looked new and it also didn't have any marks from the fire 20 years ago. There were some remnants on the walls from the fire inside, but it looked like someone had cleaned the most of it up.

Walking up the stairs, Wang Ming tried to walk as silent as possible, while looking upwards to see if anybody was spotting the stairs. Wang Ming felt it was too quiet here. He felt like he was walking in to a death trap. He knew that there had to be someone here because of the screams he had heard only minutes ago. It wasn't something Wang Ming could have imagined since the taxi driver had also heard the screams.

Finally arriving at the top of the stairs, Wang Ming could see the primary room of the warehouse. Which had a big glass door. It confirmed the fact that someone had been using and repaired the place. No warehouses would ever use glass doors because of the lack of security using them. A robber could take a stone and crush the door to get inside.

Cautiously sneaked closer to the glass door to look inside, and what he saw worried him. He saw Qiao Meng lying unconscious on the floor in the middle of the room. Surrounding her were five men who also were unconscious. Wang Ming assumed that these were the bad guys Qiao Meng had beaten.

It seemed like she just had an intense battle. She had blood trickling down from her thigh, but since it was too far from him. He didn't know how serious the wound was, but what worried him was a man standing in front of her laughing.

Scouting the room from the door, Wang Ming didn't see anyone guarding the door. So he opened the door, making no sounds, then sneaked into the room. Feeling nervous, he clutched the baseball bat in his hands tight. Entering the room, Wang Ming realized the room wasn't too big it was roughly 100 square meters big. Which was just double the size of an average apartment in China.

Sneaking closer to where Qiao Meng, Wang Ming used the tall stacks of boxes to sneak closer. Getting closer meter for meter, Wang Ming finally arrived close to where she was only 2 meters away, still hiding behind the boxes. But the problem now was that Qiao Meng was lying out in the open and the man who had beat her was still standing in front of her. The man kept looking at Qiao Meng's body like he was appraising a piece of meat before devouring. If Wang Ming didn't save her here, then he was sure that they would rape her.

But he couldn't do this rashly even though his blood was boiling. Scouting around Wang Ming still didn't see anybody in this room except from the 5 men lying on the floor and their leader. But he couldn't be sure, as there were too many boxes and items obscuring his view. There could be 10 men somewhere in this room without him knowing, he would need to clear out the room before saving her.

But before he could do it, Wang Ming saw the leader taking Qiao Meng on his shoulders and started walking to the back of the warehouse. Having no other choice, Wang Ming tried to follow him, while using the boxes as cover. Luckily enough, Wang Ming didn't encounter anyone while shadowing him until he arrived in front of a door. Wang Ming didn't know where the door led to, but he knew he had to do something soon after hearing what the man said.

"Boys, I will take a turn with this chick, do a good job and you guys can go after. Take care of the brothers who couldn't even beat a lady, fucking wusses. Remember to stay on high alert, Wang Ming will come today. If he does, then report back to me instantly, Big Brother gave the order to kill him. He will be our steppingstone in uniting the FenZhong city. Now GO! And stay alert!"

Seeing one guard leave to tend to the men who Qiao Meng knocked out, Wang Ming had finally found his moment to strike.
