"Huh, my eyes changed back." I spoke out loud while staring at my reflection in the mirror. My gold eyes changed back to it's original green. Actually wait, it's changing again to gray? I guess the new color is to officiate the fact that I'm no longer an isekai truck driver. A little depressing, I wonder if I can still make my eyes glow. focusing on my eyes again, I notice it started glowing gold again. Cool, at least I still have flashlight eyes when I need it.
Sitting back on my bean bag, I turn on the flatscreen and leave it on as background noise. It's been a couple days since I became situated in this basement. A crude makeshift restroom was installed with a sink and everything. I have a mini kitchen on one side of the room.
Overall, it's basically my own man-cave at this point. The mechanic installed the generator into the walls, so it didn't take up space. My bed is in the corner of the room in front of the flatscreen.
Anyway, I found something interesting yesterday when I was taking inventory in the gate. A book, called "The greatest guide to magic" the book itself seemed to have a function that auto-translated the words to a language that the reader can understand. On the cover there is a section that says "Written by Gilgamesh of Uruk". Heh, so he wrote his own book
I've been casually reading it in my chill time and I've got to say. Gilgamesh has some really high standards. The things that are basic in this book are written for humans that lived during the age of gods. In the Nasuverse, people who lived during that age were much stronger than humans of the modern age. Which meant that their bodies could produce more magical energy than regular humans.
While I can't reproduce most of the things in this book with my tiny supply of energy, I can however understand the theory. Gilgamesh went into great details when it came to the principles of spells itself. The basics of modern magecraft were also included in the book. There was a section dedicated to it and he made his disdain for it known through a few passages. I guess he could see into the future.
Despite his disdain, this section was exactly what I needed. The problem was, I wasn't capable of opening my magic circuits on my own. However, he did go on to say that magic circuits themselves weren't necessary. Simply having any form of magical energy can be used.
Maybe I should go to Rias and incarnate myself as a devil. If I remembered correctly, the magic reserves of devils would simply increase with time. That's all, they didn't have to train to increase it. I wouldn't mind serving under her as I knew that eventually I could become a high-class devil myself and get my own peerage. It's an option to consider, but I think I'll explore other options first before resorting to that.
You just became pissed off from that short paragraph weren't you? Pissing off the reader for the chapter, check! Now to move on.
There are countless magical systems within the multi-verse. They don't all require you to use energy that comes from yourself. There are systems that use the chaos outside of space itself to power their spells or use the energy from the world itself through spirits or some other medium.
While I'd love to learn types of magic that don't use your own energy, I'd like to get my own source of energy first just because it sounds cooler. I can stop by other worlds with my truck, but it might be dangerous depending on where I go.
So before all that, I should at least get decently fit enough to not immediately die if anything goes wrong. I could work out regularly, but that would take quite some time and honestly I'm straight up lazy so I don't know how long I could keep that up before quitting.
I'll need to learn how to fight close combat as well, at least the basics. I can only shoot things out of my gate 20-30 times before I drop to the ground. Which means I can't rely on it.
"Fighting and excercise...." I mutter out with a hard expression. My body really isn't built for hard work. It's why I'm a truck driver, I usually let my truck do all the work for me.
*Snap* "That's it!" I say with a snap of my finger.

"So you want me to beat you up?" Koneko blinked as she processed the request.
"What? No! I just want you to help me get better at fighting." Gold clarified as the two stood outside the abandoned house this time. He didn't want his man-cave to get wrecked after cleaning it up.
"By beating you up?"
"Pfft, as if a shorty like you could be-" He was cut off as saliva flew out of his mouth. His body seemed to crumple from the tiny fist lodged in his belly fat. His body flew back several feet until he landed on the ground, rolling down the grass. A squeal seemed to escape his mouth as he held his stomach in a pitiable position.
"You were saying?" Koneko asked as she watched Gold tremble on the ground.
Gold Aversis stood up shakily as he tried to get his bearings. His stomach felt like it was on fire while his legs felt weak. His breath was nearing a pant as he gasped for air. He moved his head up to look at the white haired girl and put on a strong front. "You punch like a girl." He finally retorted
Koneko seemed to narrow her eyes at the retort. This would be one of many sessions of pain that Gold would go through.

You know how the Rook is supposed to be slow but strong? Well apparently that's just using devil's standards. Compared to a regular human like me, the damn girl might as well have super speed and this is her going easy on me if her word is to be taken seriously.
Okay, side step, punch, kick.
Why is it that when she lets me hit her, I feel like I'm hurting myself more than her!? MY SHIN! I KICKED HER WITH MY SHIN AND I FEEL LIKE I HIT A WALL!
The last thing I remember was feeling something beneath my chin before I blacked out.
Waking up, my everything hurt. I felt like my sores had sores on top of them. I looked around the room, I guess she carried me to my bed when she knocked me out. "I just got my ass kicked by a girl half my size" I groan out.
I glanced at a stool next to my bed with a note on it. Ignoring the pain, I reached out for it and picked it up. "You need to learn how to dodge better." No shit, but it's sort of hard to dodge when you're fighting someone who's physically superior to you in every way besides height. Well, at least she's actually putting in effort for the request.
Letting my arm drop, I just lay there for a moment. Body hurts too much to do much else, might as well take inventory for the rest of the day. If only I could reach the remote to turn on the flatscreen for background noise.
It'd be nice if I could find potions or something in the gate, but I haven't found any yet. I'm currently ignoring the weapons section of the gate. Not like I could properly use any of them anyway. I could probably use a club, you just swing clubs right? Speaking of weapons I can't properly use, even if I could lift Rhongomyniad. I have no idea how to use it. It's currently in the shape of the Dragonslayer Swordspear from dark souls 3.
I don't actually know anyone who uses a SwordSpear besides the Nameless King. Actually now that I think about it, didn't Karna's weapon turn into a swordspear during one of his ascensions?
Hmm... I won't make much progress if I'm bedridden after each session with Koneko. It'd be a gamble to try and find the potions in the gate. There must be a way to get some dodge training done and heal up my body, but how?
Stewing in my thoughts for a few minutes as I browse the treasury, an imaginary lightbulb flickered above my head.

Within the Cemetary of Ash, an unkindled rose from it's slumber. Standing above the remains of it's ruined world, the only sound that remained was the eerie wind in the distance. Lifting it's leg to take it's first step of it's journey, a portal flashed open behind the undead.
The roar of an engine reverberated through the once silent cemetary until an even louder sound of a horn blared over it. The Ashen One of Dark Souls 3 was prompty turned to paste by the truck.
"Ah shit! I can't believe I hit someone the second I got out the portal!" Gold panicked as he got out of his truck.
"I wonder if he'll be sent to a R.O.B anyway?" He wasn't an Isekai driver anymore but his truck was still an Isekai truck.
Nervously stepping up to the unmoving body, he slowly reached out to it. Once his palm made contact with the Ashen One, it's body exploded in white light. Gold covered his face from the sudden brightness. Opening his eyes the moment after, he noticed white soul essence surrounding him.
"The fuck?" The flaming white essence became assimilated into his body as he felt something odd within him. "Well, that was odd." he commented as he looked at where the body once was. All that was left was a wooden club and a flask with an orange substance inside. He picked it up after a moment.
"Huh, well that's convenient." he recognized what it was as he uncorked it and took a sip from the Estus flask. "Much better, it really does taste like orange juice!" he noted as his sore body finally healed up from it's injuries from prior.
"Alright, let's get started."
And just like that, Gold Aversis would begin his training journey through Dark Souls 3.
