Serious woman (3)

"How could you think that of me Haru?" She countered as tears streamed down. Haru sighed as he picked up his coat and was about to walk out the door.

"I've tried my best to make you love me Haru. You say you're my best friend buy you always make me cry. I wonder why you don't like me Haru. You don't even look at me when I'm sad, you don't care" She burst into tears.

Haru stopped in his tracts, he bit his lip as the guilt weighed in for the first time. "I'm sorry okay. Stop crying" he pleaded as he pulled her into a hug. Maybe he'd been too mean to her.

He shouldn't have said that. She's his wife, maybe it's about time to start treating her like one especially when she's now pregnant.

"Please stop crying" he wiped her tears away, and kissed her forehead. "I believe you okay. I shouldn't have said that" He went on his knees to plead and at the same time kiss her belly "I accept our baby. I'll never say something bad again" he assured her after listening to her sincere words but was it really from the bottom of her heart? She was an A lister actress but the guilt didn't make him think about that possibility.

Now she's pregnant he can't pretend to not have responsibilities. He was about to have a family, not with the woman of his choice but Ai Jin and her baby are now his responsibilities.

Ai jin smirked as she hugged her husband. No no one can come in between them.

Meilin got back home with her kids after a long day at work. She finally got herself a job, a good paying one.

As usual, her nightly routine was dinner for her and baby food for her daughters. She put them on the floor to crawl around a little and mess with their toys while she mashed some cooked flaked fish into a puree.

She fed them first before herself and put them in their respective beds. She kissed them and sang a song hoping at least one of them would fall asleep.

For the first time they both fell asleep. She was glad she could fully rest for the night. She took a seat on her bed and grabbed the curved handle of her mug before she blew on her cocoa.

She was thinking of the next day, the work load and all. She hadn't started with her project, she didn't even know where to start. It was her first time handling such. She wasn't too familiar with major promotion deals but what she did know was that the pay was worth it.

"Can't burn the mid over my project. I'm too exhausted" She said as she plopped her small frame on the bed and bounced a bit.

As soon as her alarm rang her hands knocked it over and her babies also woke up from the loud buzz. She scooted to them the moment they started crying and she tried to rock them to sleep. She had to prepare her breakfast and their food for the day before she takes them to the nursery.

"An hour...How hard could it be?" She asked herself already having a time limit, she needed to be out of the house before 7, and she had to get her babies to the daycare too.

It was hectic but she scaled through everything. She was a few minutes late but she still acted normal in the situation even though she got countless eyes fixed on her. She wondered what was so rare about coming to work three minutes late .

"Miss Zhao..." The man that interviewed her crossed his arms and she greeted him good morning.

"You're late..."

"Just three minutes"

"That's still late" He argued further. At yang enterprises, being three minutes late was normal but she had to understand every company had it's own standard. For a rookie one like Empire inc, the punctuality rule was quite annoying.

"I'm sorry. I had..."

"Don't do it again" He said with a straight and left. "So rude" She murmured before she headed for her office. She had a picture of her twins pasted on the wall and she looked at it for a while before she snapped out of her thoughts and diverted her attention to her day task.

She went through project samples and she used them to draft her own. She wasn't cautious of time but as long as she was working, that didn't matter at all.

"Miss Zhao" It was that rude man again. She looked up "Yes sir?"

"I'm sorry for my tone. Let me make it up to you by buying lunch" He stood at the doorway hoping to get the reply he was waiting for.

"No. I'm busy" He narrowed his brows "Huh?"

She raised a brow, diverting her gaze at an instance "I'm busy and I already have home made lunch. Thank you."

He slowly nodded "Excuse me."

That was how she treated all her colleagues, especially the male ones. She didn't want to get familiar with any of them, woman or man, she just wanted to keep her distance and just make money. She liked the idea of being an island because she was just going to work on solo projects.

After Lunch time ended, Meilin continued with Her work after taking a fifteen minutes break out of the fixed one hour. She continued with her assignment. She started drawing charts and filling up the shapes with ideas.

People thought her hard work was just to get attention or maybe get an early award from the boss. The interviewer was the Boss.

A man in his late Thirties from america but still of Chinese descent. All his life he'd travelled around the world gathering resources. His dream to have a company of his own was inspired the moment he met Haru Yang for the first time. He also worked there as a minor rookie, but he respected the younger so much. At a point he thought maybe he could have and establishment of his own. With that little idea, he resigned.

It wasn't easy, sometimes it was far from being hard. It was worse than hard. He didn't think about the fact that Haru was born into the Yang family, he inherited a business aged over 90 and he thought his could spring over night. There was no going back, he'd already dumped most of his money in getting the place stirred up for improvements.

He was still single, no kids and obviously no woman of his interest. He wasn't interested in those and after almost forty years, he's sure he can do without even though he's criticised for being a workaholic and an indoor type of guy instead of a lively party man with different options for women.

He wasn't that type of guy and he was already used it. He was slightly offended by Meilin's decline because he didn't want her to think he was trying to make a sudden move. He didn't have time for that, he didn't think there was need to explain it to her especially when he had business related things to do that filled his daily schedules.

"I'm done sir" Meilin walked into his office. She gently placed the flat grey chip boards on the floor and tried to organize them a little.

Her process was step by step so she couldn't afford a mix up. "We're having a general meeting soon, so you have to present in front of thee available board members and the guest I invited."

"When?"

"Today"

"But I thought I had like two weeks."

"This isn't a normal promotion job. Your project could take this company to higher level. You're like our secret weapon meilin..."

She was freaked out by his words but he quickly waved it all and went back to the calm quiet man he's used to being.

"So what do you say Miss Zhao?"

She nodded and they both proceeded to the meeting room. He assured her that their guests were on their way whilst the board of directors already started trooping in. She was a bit nervous, she was bound to be asked questions about her investment plans.

If she'd know, she would've spent all night doing it. Her boss was excited, he was hoping the man that inspired his dreams would come. He was waiting for the phone call.

Her went over to meilin "Haru Yang is coming. If there's need for you to put on make up or spray your perfume again please do. We're about have a god like man in the building. Aren't you excited?"

It was too soon. "Sir I have a request. I'm not going to share my business idea unless you give someone else to present it. And I chose you."

He shook his head no "That's not possible. It's against ethics. Meilin why did you change your mind all of a sudden?"

She knew how persistent Haru could be. If he sees her now, he'd tie her down with questions and gestures. She didn't want that, she liked the peaceful life she was living and she'd do everything possible to avoid that.

"I'm sorry sir, if that's the case. I'm leaving" She said as she got up. Her face was always straight but her grave words was a hint on how serious she was. It was either he finds someone else to present or she'd take her materials and leave.

He had to make a decision before Haru comes and he had to make it fast.
