A new mission

"Fascinating, that was all too fascinating"

Greed says his voice trembling with excitement .

"Never before has there been a human who could not only fight us, he even managed to leave scars on all of us."

He flashed back to the moment before they all attacked the human. As soon as the sins gotten close they knew they made a mistake, seeing as how the human's magical energy erupted and lashed out at them even after it had been sealed away.

He looked around at his comrades who were now sporting various wounds, even he himself had not come out unscathed. He coughed blood and looked at the injury that the human had left on his body.

"Too bad he was utterly destroyed in the end, that was the best test subject I could've asked for." He mused.

"Are you positive he's dead?" Wrath asks with uncertainty.

"Of course he's dead, why do you sound so nervous for? There's no human alive that can withstand a blow with more than 70% of Lord Michael's power" Envy states with zero hesitation.

"Though he was much more powerful than we realized he was only able to gain the upper hand because we were caught off guard, had we used our released forms we could have easily crushed that bug. The scars on our bodies are proof that we shouldn't underestimate the humans anymore."

"I understand that." Wrath said watching as the destroyed city 8 falls to the ground.

"But I also understand anger, and what I felt from that child was the pure and true unchecked rage of a beast, the likes of which I've never felt before, even his power was scary, it felt as though it was still in it infancy.

If there's even a sliver of a chance that he could survive he will." He explained.

"And I do not wish to meet the monster that beast grows into."

"If he does come after us we'll just kill him again right?" yawned sloth who now had a wound on her right shoulder.

"Of course," replied Pride.

"And even if that bug manages to crawl out he's still missing both arms."

He placed his hand on the still bleeding wound on his chest. He holds his hand out and lets his blood fall on the ruins of city 8.

" If he still breathes, by the time I'm done with him he'll see death as a sweet dream."

And as he clenched his fist as an ominous energy radiated from his body.

"Then for his sake he'd better be dead." Michael said with a cold smile.

******

I wake up to a blinding light in my eyes. I try to block it but I can't move my arms.

"Damn it Kevin turn off the light" I grumble.

But as soon as his name leaves my lips I remember everything.

Kevin.

Mom.

Dad.

James.

They're all gone and I'm left alone in this world. But how? Why am I still alive? I was supposed to have died. I look around the room I'm in and it looks like Someone brought me to a hospital. I try to get up from the operating table I'm on but I fall knocking over equipment and end up sprawled on the floor, my head cracking the tiles. My tears began to fall as I remembered mom's last words.

"At least we die as a family."

So why? Why am I alive? Why me? I began to sob uncontrollably as I remember how brutal each of their ends were.

"We were supposed to die together. So why am I the only one left?"

I hear a door open behind me suddenly I'm pulled into someone's arms but I don't care.

"It's okay" I hear a man's voice.

I have no idea who it is but his voice sounds familiar.

"It's okay, your safe now, you don't have to worry, your alive."

"Why?" I ask before I fall unconscious again.

"Is he okay Doc?" A woman dressed a a nurse enters the room looking concerned.

"It's quite alright Lucille" Doc says as he places Malcom back on the table.

"This child's been through a quite traumatic experience. When he wakes up make sure he's comfortable and please exercise caution, I can't even begin to comprehend the amount of damage he's suffered psychologically ."

"Will do Doc." She says as she starts to clean up the mess.

As he leaves the room Doc looks back at Malcom with pity in his eyes remembering his last question.

"Why?"

"You'll find out in due time my child." He says with tears in his eyes.

I wake up again this time I'm in a small room, the lights are dim enough that they're not blinding but bright enough for me to see, as I sit up I check my surroundings. The room I'm in is bare, besides a few things like a bed, a desk, a dresser and a sink with a mirror. There aren't any windows so I can't even tell if it's night or day. I somehow manage to get up and walk over to the sink and see my reflection I'm missing both arms and covered in bandages from head to toe.

" You look like a fucking hell." I chuckled dryly.

I hear the door open behind me and I turn to see a girl dressed like a nurse walk in.

"Oh sorry, didn't know you were awake." She said surprised.

"Where am I?" I asked. " and who are you?"

"My name is Lucille and your currently in city 1 we brought you here immediately after we found you in the wreckage of city 8."

"Were there any other survivors?" I asked knowing full well what the answer was.

"Besides you? Unfortunately No. The entire city was obliterated" she said calmly.

She then proceeded to change my bandages, as she got closer I noticed just how strange she was. The way she moved was unnatural. Her movements were weirdly fluid with unnatural precision, there was no hesitation, almost like each move was carefully calculated. Her appearance was even more unusual. Her eyes were bright purple and gave off a faint light and her hair was a strange shade of pink it could've been dyed but I doubted it. I closed my eyes and tried to sense her Spiritual Power but was immediately shocked when I couldn't.

" Um not to be rude or anything, but what are you? I mean, your not human right?" I asked outright.

"I see, your observation skills are top notch " she laughed.

"Most people never catch on, your right I'm not human, I'm actually an 'artificial human' created by Doc."

"Doc?"

"He owns this place it's sorta like a laboratory/hospital/house." She laughed

"Don't worry we'll see him after I'm through here." She explains calmly.

Once my bandages are changed she sits me in a wheelchair and takes me on a tour of the facility.

"Just like the floating cities this facility can also move around on its own, unfortunately it can't fly so we have to move around underground."

Lucille explained.

"Wouldn't that just alert any underground demon beasts nearby" I asked.

"Well ordinarily yeah but the sensory system we have is WAAY more advanced then the ones the other cities use. And if any of them do get close enough we have the most advanced weapons on the planet. Not to mention this place could withstand an all-out attack from a high-tier general-level soldier." She boasts.

"I'm impressed." I say looking around in awe.

We come to a stop at a huge door.

"Check this out" Lucille smiled.

Her right arm splits open to reveal a cylindrical key embedded in her arm. She uses the key to open the door and we are greeted with an amazing scene it looks like a laboratory except it size is massive,it looks to be a little larger than a stadium, and it's filled with all kinds of amazing tech. From pistols and small trinkets to several fucking tanks and huge mech suits it's all amazing, as I'm looking around I hear a voice.

"Welcome, it's nice to see you finally awake."

I turn my head to see a familiar face.

"Aren't you that guy I ran into the other day?" I asked perplexed.

"I'm glad you recognize me, I was worried about how your mental state would be once you woke up but I'm glad to see you're fine." He said with a warm smile.

"I never got to introduce myself to you my name is Doc."

"Doc?" I said skeptically. "That's like your actual name?"

"Well I CAN tell you my real name." He chuckled. "but your just gonna end up calling me Doc anyway"

"Touché." I agree.

"I want to thank you for saving my life," I start to say.

"There's no need." He interrupts.

"All of the resistance saw the fight you and your family put up against Michael and his generals, on top of that they saw you actually hurt them, if we didn't do everything in our power to save you we would've lost the best chance humanity has at ever ending this war."

"I think you're putting me on too high a pedestal there doc." I say sheepishly.

"I think your underestimating yourself son, not only did you survive an all out battle with The supreme commander of the army of despair and his generals but you also managed to wound all of them. You did the one thing every single human being on this planet has been trying to do since the start of this war." He said with a dead serious tone.

"I do not exaggerate when I say, I fully believe that you are the last and only hope humanity has left in this endless war, I will help you in any way I possibly can."

Doc and Lucille both bow their heads toward me.

" I think you've got something wrong here." I blurt out.

"I'm not some savior of humanity, I'm not some last hope type of guy either." I tell them honestly.

"My only goal in this life right now is to kill Michael and his generals if I end the war in the process then so be it, and if you're gonna help me do that then I need information, equipment, and allies, but before that, I'll need new arms can you help with that?"

"Indeed I can," Doc says with a smile.
