Elemental affinity

Lucille leaves the training room once more and peeps through the window to watch me. I close my eyes again and concentrate, channeling my magical energy into my hand, a small ball of pure energy is formed in my palm.

"Now for the hard part". I say to myself.

I start to condense the energy and the ball shrinks slightly, the more I push the smaller it shrinks, eventually, it's the size of a small marble, then a grain of rice, and finally a grain of sand, and at first it seemed as small as it would get, but I force it to shrink further still, then the space around the energy ball warps, I'm exerting so much pressure that beads of sweat start to form, dripping down my face, but I continue, as of now the ball has shrunk to the size of a pinhead I give it one more massive push with everything I have and the ball disappears momentarily before a black sphere expands slowly growing to the size of the original energy ball. Dust starts flowing towards the orb, light bends around it and I feel an unimaginable weight from it as well. I hold my hand out and the newly created black hole gently floats to the center of the room before landing on the floor, immediately a large chunk of the floor is absorbed by the black hole which grows slightly bigger. More and more of the floor continues to be eaten away by the black hole which all the while grows steadily.

"Ok I got it to form, " I say cautiously.

"Now how the fuck do I stop it?"

I close my eyes and reach out with my conscience again and make a discovery; As the black hole grows larger it emits strange energy, it's not something I put there, I can only assume that this energy is a byproduct of the black hole itself, as the hole gets bigger the energy grows stronger, as I watch it for a bit an idea suddenly comes to me; if the energy increase causes the ball to get bigger then would the ball shrink if the energy lessens? I put my theory to the test by absorbing a little bit of the energy, as soon as I do the hole shrinks somewhat then resumes expanding.

"Fucking Slitty," I say happily.

I absorb all of the energy and the hole disperses leaving nothing but a half-destroyed training room suddenly, the three orbs within my body start to glow and shake violently I focus on them and realize that they all have developed cracks on the surface, and from those cracks seep the purest energy I've ever felt, and as the cracks spread I felt as if I was on the verge of a breakthrough until out of the blue, the cracks stop spreading and the power that was building up makes my body feel like it's gonna explode. After giving it some thought I create another black hole, and I noticed that it's a lot easier this time around, I let the second one grow larger than the first before I absorb the energy from it and it seems like my hypothesis was correct; whatever this energy is it was the catalyst for my breakthrough, the cracks in the orbs resume to spread but this time they didn't stop until a thick layer of the coating came off of them, almost like an egg breaking, power immediately started to flow into me so fast I was barely able to contain it. I felt my body expand and contrast as it tried to contain and acclimate to the sudden boost of mana, my eyes glowed brightly and the space around me distorted leaving a crater beneath my feet as the entire training room shook, and just as it started, it slowly ebbed away, my body was now fully capable of handling my new level of strength.

As I walked out of the training room Principal Vaughn and several teachers were waiting for me in the hallway with looks of concern.

"Is everything alright?" he asked.

"The entire building was shaking."

"Yeah sorry about that I was in the middle of training when I suddenly had a breakthrough. But I accidentally destroyed the training room in the process." I apologize.

"I can help repair it if you want though."

"It's alright, " he assured me.

"The training rooms were built to be broken, though it has been quite a while since anyone was capable of destroying one."

As he led me down the hall I could hear the teachers muttering amongst themselves.

"It makes sense that he's this strong, you know 'cause of the whole fight with Michael and everything, but it's still weird to see a kid with this much power." One said as he inspected the training room.

"So I was looking through your information again and I noticed that you didn't have an elemental affinity listed." Principal Vaughn said pulling my attention to him.

"An Elemental what now?" I ask.

Hearing this he stops dead in his tracks and looked at me as if I was Michael himself.

"Please tell me you're kidding right now." He begged.

"No, I honestly have no idea what you're talking about." I answer honestly.

"Are you kidding me? You should've found out in basic training."

"Yeah no, I was only there for like a day and I've been homeschooled ever since."

"I guess that explains that." he sighed.

"But it's amazing that you're this strong even without using an element. Luckily we have something here that can test yours."

"Is it super important or something?" I ask looking at Lucille.

"Everyone is born with an affinity to a certain element of fire, water, earth, air, lightning, and space. For people who can tap into and master their given element, they'll get a substantial boost in power no matter which one they end up with." Lucille explains.

"Has there ever been anyone with more than one element?" I ask.

"There are a few," Principal Vaughn says.

"But they're extremely rare."

"So which element do you have Principal Vaughn?" I ask.

"Well people like me are a special case, " he says.

"I'm known as a Bloodline Bearer."

"What's that?"

"They're people who possess an affinity that's not one of the main elements." Lucille answers.

"As the name suggests, it's a power that one inherits from their family."

"Smart girl, " Principal Vaughn nods.

"Most members of the House of Vaughn are Bloodline Bearers."

"And am I correct in assuming that Daniel is also one?" I ask.

"Correct you are." He answers.

"We all possess the ability to manipulate our blood to a certain degree, and I hate to admit it but Daniel's ability far surpasses those who came before him, including yours truly."

"Are you sure it's okay to be telling all this to the guy who plans to fight your nephew?" Lucille asks.

"I mean, shouldn't you try to downplay it or lie at least?"

"I suppose I should, but I not gonna lie, I'm looking forward to this fight of yours." He said shrugging his shoulders.

We stop at a room that is empty except for a six-foot-tall white crystal in the center.

"Now all you have to do is place your hand on this crystal and insert some of your magical energy and whatever color appears in the center of it is your element." Principal Vaughn says.

"I know this is probably a dumb question, but what are the colors?" I ask.

"Red for fire, blue for water, green for earth, white for air, purple for lighting, and black for space."

He answers.

"Good to know," I say as I place my hands on the crystal and pour a bit of energy into it.
