If you have ever turned off the lights in a brightly lit room in the middle of the night, you would know what Jeremy was seeing now.
Nothing.
A darkness even darker than black.
His vision was so dark that he couldn't even make out the shapes of objects in his surroundings.
'What just happened...' Jeremy though as he frantically scanned around once again to look for the signs of baffled people he had seen earlier.
But nothing.
Even after his eyes started to adjust, he notice that there was nothing there. No people. No buildings. Just him and an infinite plane of darkness extending from yonder to yonder.
'What in the world is going onnnnnn!?!?!?!?' Jeremy's mind started to fry as he try to wrap his head around what was happening.
One moment he was walking home after a long day of work. The next the sky has turned black. After that the city got engulf in darkness. And... What?!?!
Jeremy closed his eyes as he tries to remember what happened.
Blank.
He couldn't.
Try as he might, it was as if a mental block is stopping him from remembering what happened... Or perhaps... What he saw in the hypnotising darkness.
Rumble rumble rumble
Something was happening not far from him.
"What's that... Whose there?" Jeremy said as he look at the direction of the rumbling. Perhaps if he went towards it, he might be able to find what's going on or what has happened to the world around him.
Darkness upon darkness upon darkness.
Darkness as far as the eye can see.
Jeremy was hoping since it all happened that the empty dark surroundings was just due to his eyes not adjusting from the sudden plunge into darkness. But that clearly isn't the case. There was simply nothing there any more.
Just as it seems like it would take forever even to just reach a short distance ahead, Jeremy halted suddenly.
There was nothing there, but yet, it felt as if something was. His eyes could precieved it but every nerve in his body was asking him to run.
But no.
Jeremy wasn't a bitch.
Even if he ran, where was he going to run to?
Back into the infinite nothingness?
The fact that there was something here would mean thay knowing what it is would take him ever closer to finding out what just happened.
All he needed to do, was to muster his courage, and take that step forward into the unknown.
"Whose there!" Jeremy yelled into the void.
Silence.
"Hello!" Jeremy yelled again.
Silence.
"Huh... Maybe.... What the! Ugh!" Jeremy yelled as in the midst of thinking that he was merely imagining stuff and there truly was nothing infront of him that some unforseen forces lunged forward, enveloped him and lifted him into the air.
"Intéressant" a voice spoke.
"Let me go!" Jeremy yelled as he struggled to get loose from the tight binds of these invisible appendages.
He couldn't see it but he could feel it. It was as if he was binded by invisible tentacles that his so fond of watching in his private moments. Its grip was unwavering and no matter how much he struggled, it didn't let loose even abit. Contrary to that, not only is not getting any looser, he could feel the invisible appendages squirming and smothering upwards towards his face.
Soon, he could feel it slithering and probing up his neck, his face, his mouth...
UGH!
whatever it was, it has jammed itself into Jeremy's mouth, as if dislocating a portion to slither down his insides as he gaged at breathlesness for a moment.
"What in the!..." Jeremy said once he finally could speak again as he tilted his head up.
It was a sight unlike what he seen before. He could see it now, clearly, the it that was holding him. But It was truly the only way to describe it. The mere sight of it caused his body to convulsed. A tidal wave of fear, awe, curiosity and disgust washed over him all at once and overwhelmed his senses.
If there are things in this world that is not to be comprehended by men like the value of infinity, then this can be considered a thing that is not meant to be comprehended by man.
"Interesting, you haven't lost your mind yet... " The voice spoke once again.
Overwhelmed by his senses, it was hard for Jeremy to even speak a word as every time he looked at the being, his vision greyed out and bile started to gather. It was nauseating. But even so, he forced a few words out by closing his eyes when talking to it. "What... What do mean... Arghhhhh?"
As he spoke out his question, the being started flinging him around as if trying to look at him from every angle possible.
"Most of your kind loses it mind the second it sees me. To comprehend the incomprehensible, your kind isn't made for level of intellect. And yet here you are... Still sane... Interesting..." the voice said as it continue to fling Jeremy around.
It wasn't that the voice have decided to answer Jeremy's question. No. It was just coincidence that the question asked coincide with what it was talking about. To it, Jeremy was to it as an ant is to us. Insignificant.
"Perhaps you can be useful... Hmm..." the voice said once more as the flinging stop.
As he slowly recover his composure after being flung around like a rag doll, Jeremy tilted his head forward once again to try and comprehend what exactly that his doing all this to him.
His head tilted upwards.
His eyes slowly pry open, as if limiting the amount of information entering his mind bit by bit to allow himself to slowly comprehend what it was.
Yellowish white.
Red veins sprouting from the side.
Gasp.
Before he knew it, it was already staring at him.
It was huge. No. Huge would be an understatement. Even gigantic wouldn't do it justice. It was an eye the size of the world itself, staring right into his soul. The rest of it was so huge that his mind couldn't even come to comprehend in the room what was and what was not part of it.
This was ridiculous.
What has he gotten himself into.
This is hell isn't it.
Otherwise what in the world is happening!
The stone cold gaze that peered into his soul paralysed him.
"All pieces are already in play..." the voice said as if pondering something.
"... Maybe..." the echoed again, this time pulling Jeremy closer to it.
"... Yes... That could work..." The voice continue to ponder as he pulled him even closer to its pupils.
Jeremy opened his mouth to asked, but nothing came out. The glare has paralysed the air out of his lungs. Try as he might, no words could exit his mouth.
Soon tho, he wished he could.
He could feel the tendrils tightening around his body and his head and suddenly it started pulling in opposite directions with great force.
"W.... What... WHA... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH... " Jeremy scream in his mind as the feeling of his head getting riped apart effortlessly by this mysterious being rippled across his body.
"AHHHH......"
...
...
...
Darkness.
