First steps to medicine

Inside the cave, Xiao Fan was looking at the hole that the arrow had made into his shoulder.

It was a small cavity, but for his luck, the arrowhead hadn't somehow hit any major vein of his, only some of his shoulder muscle had been ripped by it.

Having next to no idea about first aid, he ripped a strand of his robe from the bottom and rolled it over the wound and trying to forget about the pain still coming from it.

That would do for now. He had much more important things to be focussing on currently, as the two women or even more people were coming for him.

The cave wasn't secure anymore. The enemy's starting location for their hunt was close, and there must be drops of blood around the place.

The second problem was not so immediate, but one that also needed solving, that problem being how he would cook his food? He had a giant rat carcass just waiting for him to devour it, but no way could he make a fire.

Thinking about this Xiao Fan had only one acceptable route, eating it raw would need to do.

Before going to the carcass, he sculpted another stone tool with his bare hands as there was no need to use rocks to hit a rock for a cultivator, and so after a few hits, Xiao Fan now wielding a sharp stone blade in hand made his way towards the rat.

The rat carcass hadn't spoiled yet in the deepest part of the cave as it was somewhat cold there, so it wouldn't rot too fast he noted to himself while dropping on his knees.

Starting first by removing any skin that the animal had, and from there working on making small pieces of meat from the side of the animal.

Thinking about eating it raw wasn't so bad anymore as he saw meat in front of him. A prisoner who never got to eat meat wasn't going to be too picky about his food.

Getting the first piece off the animal's side, Xiao Fan didn't think much before clawing a piece of meat with his teeth and starting to chew.

There was no way he would heal this wound alone if not given years, and so although little reluctant Xiao Fan was sure that getting something from Cao Cao was a necessity.

Meanwhile, as he waited, the two sisters also journeyed back to the town for the day.

They hadn't found anything that would give them a clue about their target, so for now, they would go and tell about everything to the town before coming back.

And like they had thought after informing their tribe about all of this they had been ordered to take care of it swiftly, and if there was a raid on their town, they would be responsible for it.

So like Huan had thought she needed to step up and offer to help her sister in finding the man, and like that the two of them would begin their hunt tomorrow.

Xiao Fan had no knowledge of anything happening above him as the ever so white projection came in front of him just before evening. The God of Neutral Chaos had come back to ¨assist¨ him.

Cao Cao coming here firstly noticed how Xiao Fan had an injury on his shoulder and thought that he should have awakened up earlier to laugh at the poor man when he had gotten his first beating.

¨What happened to you¨ He asked while wanting to hear a good story about his day so far, while a nice smile plastered his face that wanted to hear about other peoples suffrage.

¨I met some crazy women from a tribe just check my memories¨ Xiao Fan lamented while he closed the book, but not giving Cao Cao the chance to laugh at his story, he told him just to look it up himself.

Not minding the unhappiness in Xiao Fan's tone, Cao Cao did just that.

But as Cao Cao started reading his memories and commenting about them, he laughed like usual about his failures until the part where Xiao Fan had met the second sister.

For when that happened, his laughs died down a little, and for someone more versed in reading faces a little bit of seriousness could be seen.

¨Did someone look too much at women while fighting?¨

Xiao Fan listened to those remarks with an unhappy face and his fingernails pushing into his palm. Nevertheless, the god was right.

When Cao Cao stopped laughing Xiao Fan with a sigh asked him ¨Do you have something like a book of medicine? I would like to study it¨

¨Oh someone wants to play doctor after realising that you can't even compare to women in fighting? But okay I will be selling you a book¨ he said.

Cao Cao had realised that the Xiao Fan enjoyed books and had gathered some of them close by to offer him. For medicine books, he also had a few of them and again randomly chose one of them by cutting out all his senses and picking one of them.

This time the price was higher than last time by a double! Total of a hundred years of services for the book, yet now he didn't think a lot about his lifespan anymore as it seemed that thousands of years wouldn't be so long soon or Cao Cao wouldn't be selling him anything.

Taking the floating book, he felt a particular sting inside his head, which this time was a little more painful compared to the last time.

Still, it was a good trade and a necessary one, and from it, he had gotten what he wanted as he opened the medical book which had a completely green cover with a white cross in the middle.

On the first pages, there was information that this book mostly focused on the body and wounds that a mortal would get and giving the knowledge on how to treat those wounds.

Its content was to raise one's skill in dealing with organs and herbs to build the reader's foundation for real alchemy through experience.

It then continued by stating that after Qi realm all of the treatments here became life-threatening as Qi inside a person body would affect any procedure done to any severy wound, so it was purely a foundations book and one should find more accurate books when treating Qi realm cultivators.

Simpler words this book focused on introducing one to the way of alchemy like the name on the cover stated ¨First Steps Towards Medicence¨ Planted with the same white colour as the cross.

Not staying long on the introduction page he located where his treatment should be and finding it on the page 1894.

Finding the right treatment, he then went over to the medicine section to look at the number of plant or animal component pages where he could find things that could treat him.

Minutes later, he found what items he might find here and sprinted out of the cave to find them before anything more serious would happen to his wound.

During this search, he didn't have the time to look or test his new knowledge on any plant like he would want to as he sprinted all over the forest while quickly looking for any plant fitting the descriptions in his book.

Xiao Fan wanted to sweep a large area and not focus on a small part as this would also serve as assessing his surrounding during which he found quite a lot of neighbours.

Meanwhile, Cao Cao was also running in the forest, but with a different objective like sometimes deleting the plant Xiao Fan was looking for and sometimes planting another one in front of him while he speeded over that place, thinking that he had already looked that place.

This made the short trip to find a few basic plants a lengthy one taking a couple of hours before Cao Cao decided that he had enough laughs and let him find the thing he was looking for.

He finally ended up finding the flower with long pedicel and a green flower in full bloom on a small clearing in the forest.

¨Thats the one! A Greenflake flower that can help at any point of recovery, a stable herb at any professional doctors bag of medicence¨ He spoke to himself or the book in his hand while rushing towards the flower.

Getting on his knees in front of them Xiao Fan begun to pick the part of the Greenflake flower he needed, the petals.

After that was done, Xiao Fan got inside the cave just before the two women were about to arrive and camp on top of the waterfall.

They would be camping next to eachother, yet separated by the wall of a mountain.

By the time Xiao Fan was back inside Cao Cao had also gone somewhere, but Xiao Fan didn't care about him at the moment, but later he would at least meet the people Cao Cao had went and helped like a benevolent god he was.

Xiao Fan would surely thank him for making so many people become super-geniuses in this world that would nicely compare to him, yet they would get a luxury pass while he would get a good challenge pass.

Back to Xiao Fan who was starting to dabble in medicine by opening the book again while keeping the petals and a few other tools he needed at an arm's reach.

Reading the process through once he began to follow the orders. First, it was to crush the petals into mush, the second and the final step was to mix it with water.

So simple thought Xiao Fan, but happily took the green slime that had come out of it.

The slime was sticky very sticky in fact. Also, it was easily moldable like an oilment, yet it would easily keep its place on human skin.

It was a quick and straightforward process that most people knew of and used it regularly for every minor injury.

Showing a happy smile, he took a fistful of the slime or medicine and applied that onto his shoulder wound.

It only felt like something pressing his wound together as he then reapplied the self-made bandage back on the slime and put his clothes back on.

He also applied some slime to his calf that had a much less of a wound, but there was no need to take chances and made the same type of treatment to the leg.

The only bad thing in all this was how his robe was becoming smaller from the legs every time he made another bandage.

However, he now had the First Steps Towards Medicence book which had a few hundred ways to make a bandage or something that could substitute a bandage, so he wasn't worried about running naked anytime soon.

After everything was done for the day, he spent his night with the Book of Cultivation as that book was still much higher on the tier list compared to the First Steps Towards Medicine book, the latter one was only needed when the former book failed.
