Though it was the steadier way to do it, god it took a long time to go through some twenty patients inside the ward that Zhuan Shan was the dedicated, medic? Xiao Fan had tried his best to think Zhuan Shan to be a surgeon, but after seeing what he was doing and how he was using his time, the word medic might be a better one.
The dedication of a medic would also fit his description.
He wanted to use this information to heal those who mattered to him front start to finish. He might have said that he would heal anyone in the oath... but yeah, there was no way that he would be healing his nemesis after a rough battle.
It might be greedy to say, but Xiao Fan would only heal those, who he wanted to heal.
Of course, this didn't make his morale to learn worse. It only made it better seeing that he would be healing primarily those who mattered to him.
Doing so there couldn't be no chance for failure.
All of these things now figured in his mind, Xiao Fan wandered all over the ward behind Zhuan Shan, who was much more of the heal everyone type. Then after he had checked everyone, Zhuan Shan sat down onto his chair in his small office.
¨Xiao Fan, look over these¨ He ordered Xiao Fan to look over some of the papers he had filled.
Taking the papers that he had filled, Xiao Fan having no idea what to do decided to see what he could do with them. Then having taken a seat like him, he began to look at the first patient.
¨Broken leg: status...¨ He began reading the papers he had been given.
The first patient looked over, Xiao Fan had realised what he needed to do, and so began to find any differences between today's record and previous ones.
When there was none, he moved to the next patient and so on.
However, only three patient records in, Xiao Fan noticed that Zhuan Shan, who was behind him, was already taking the papers from his stack.
Him doing so, made Xiao Fan feel that he was too slow, as the immediate thought was that Zhuan Shan had done his stack and was now quickening rest of the process. Next, came the realisation that was he going to be a medic who was too slow? And with that came the 'How can I improve?' Feeling to Xiao Fan. However, Xiao Fan didn't fall for the cut corners approach that would be to skim through the records.
Such a decision would go against his own idea of being a person who would strive for the best recovery rate, and not the number of recoveries. He would take it slow and continue as he had been.
Zhuan Shan, who was behind him was, of course, monitoring him to see, exactly what would be his reaction. Though it seemed that Xiao Fan didn't alter? Most would quicken their pace, or start asking what they were getting wrong.
'That's weird, but also good' He noted and continued to take papers of Xiao Fan's stack, well, he was truly done with his stack, so what else was there if he wanted to finish today.
Xiao Fan was slow, as in, first-timer, yet it had been a test. Moreover, the test was soon completed, as Xiao Fan realised that he didn't have any more papers in the stack.
Reaching for the stack and then trying to locate it, a voice responded to his hand that was trying to locate the stack.
¨We're finished with that. Now tell me what you found¨
Xiao Fan, turns around to speak face to face with Zhuan Shan ¨Nah, there was nothing new in these papers, all the same¨
¨Give me the papers. And while I look them through you can do the same to mine¨ Zhuan Shan wasn't expecting anything new, so Xiao Fan should be right.
Then changing their stacks, both of the men began to cross-check, well, Zhuan Shan cross-checked, Xiao Fan only learned how the master did it.
Surely there existed a big gap as when looking at Zhuan Shan's notes was he awed. Now he also knew that the pen noise which hadn't stopped for a moment had been so for a reason, for unlike his scattered notes, Zhuan Shan had filled the entire thing with them.
Even if most of them were notes that meant, all the same, was there still many things and correlation, he hadn't marked.
Big difference, he noted before, Zhuan Shan's voice came back to him.
¨Come look at these¨ He ordered Xiao Fan to come and look over his shoulder.
'Did I miss something!' Was the thought first coming into his mind, however, it didn't seem so.
¨No you didn't miss anything. But it'll help you if you come when there is free teaching¨ Zhuan Shan knew why his new apprentice had stopped all movement for a second.
¨Coming, coming¨ Xiao Fan didn't say more, as he hastily took his ass off the chair and walked behind Zhuan Shan. When getting behind him and focussing on the line that Zhuan Shan was marking with his pen, he got taught.
¨Look here. This will go there, and if so this goes there...¨ There came a long and detailed explanation.
Just the type which Xiao Fan loved!
¨Now I get why your daughter is such a good explainer¨ Xiao Fan at the end of it noted. For sure if a person stayed long around him, would she or he become a great explainer.
¨Thank you. However, this is the sickbay, not the outside, two things, right?¨ Zhuan Shan thanked, yet the tone after that was serious.
¨Oh...right, right¨ Xiao Fan realised he had made an oopsie.
'Should have thought that these people keep them separated' He thought to himself.
When Zhuan Shan had cross-checked, the papers Xiao Fan had done, he focussed onto the next thing, he was after all a surgeon, who might have spent half of the workday on paperwork, but oh well.
Now was the time to cut people open.
¨Good, everything was as expected¨ He graded Xiao Fan's work while getting up from the chair. ¨Now, we are going to get to the real thing¨ He when up spoke and then clapped his hands a few times.
Doing this got the undived attention of the ward that had for the past few hours they had been checking their records gone back to normal.
¨Yesterday it was gone over that I would be the first one today¨ One of the patients spoke from his bed.
Zhuan Shan hearing this man talk thought for a moment ¨Indeed it was so¨ And so came over to the person first in line.
Xiao Fan also came in tow to see how Zhuan Shan took the man off the bed, using his cultivation, then when placed onto the wheeled stretcher was he pushed by Zhuan Shan back towards his office. And from there into a smaller room behind the office, which seemed to be an operating room, Xiao Fan didn't know, but the furniture and aesthetic of the place told him enough to guess it.
¨Simply look from the side and watch what I do¨ Was the only line Zhuan Shan spoke to Xiao Fan when they came to the operating room.
¨Nothing else was on my mind¨ Xiao Fan agreed and would keep a half a meter perimeter around him. His skills were literal zero, so he didn't expect to get even close to the patient inside here.
He was content in seeing the operation occur from the sidelines.
The surgery itself looked nothing special to Xiao Fan, who had done a lot of cutting into other entities, human or mutant, until came the fixing part, as when that came, things got a little complicated for Xiao Fan.
Sure he knew what everything was happening in theory, yet as every situation was different and factors were too numerous for books, he got a little sidetracked.
The sidetrack was to the scale that he realised trusting his memories to tell him what was going on was a bad idea. Though at the point, he realised this, the operation was a little too far for him to get back onto the track.
Still, like he had been told, he was quiet through the operation and didn't ask anything that Zhuan Shan was doing to the leg that was mushed into thousands of pieces.
Zhuan Shan operation had become to him during this clear as day. Xiao Fan could see that he was trying to patch up a leg that had been shattered into pieces as if it was a puzzle.
Zhuan Zhan was looking for the correct piece of bone, which, when found, was dipped in some medical powder he had, and when dipping was done, it was put into place it should be.
Then the next piece, and the next piece. There was a lot of pieces of bone all over the tissue around his leg, looking at this he thought that something severe must have befallen this guy to have his leg mushed into thousands of bits.
There were enough pieces of bone inside of him that soon Zhuan Shan had fiddled off all the muscle and tissue of his leg so that he could find the pieces.
Due to this, it also took three to four hours for the surgeon to find and correct the bone back into one piece. However, it seemed well worth it as the bone that was a mush now looked mostly normal.
One thing might be fixed, yet now the leg around it was completely ruined. Like there was no way that the person wouldn't need another operation to repair those muscles and such.
Even the man himself was disappointed at the sight of his finished work since for Zhuan Shan, it looked like he had fixed one problem yet made a bigger one.
The bone was a thing that for sure needed fixing and the leg wouldn't work without it, but he had done so much damage to the area around it that... making him be an effective fighter amongst others in his grade didn't feel feasible. At best, he would be contending against people who were a grade lower than himself, and his chances to a breakthrough anymore were nill.
¨Oh well. It was his own fault to do something stupid¨ He concluded verbally so that Xiao Fan could realise this.
And he did.
Sure it was Zhuan Shan doing his best to fix it, but it wasn't his fault that a full recovery couldn't be made. Getting this Xiao Fan nodded to the man who was on the other side of the operating room.
¨Good. Now lift his leg into the air¨
¨Little more¨
¨Tad bit to the left¨
Zhuan Shan spoke instructions that were making Xiao Fan lift the operated leg so that, he, himself could look around while also closing the wound, though he wasn't closing it with stitches or anything.
It was actually being closed only by bandages?
¨He'll have to take the pain. Closing and reopening would be of no help. Well just have to schedule another surgery for this guy for tomorrow¨ He explained why wouldn't he close the leg.
¨Should we use Greenheart?¨ Xiao Fan asked when he was still keeping the leg up.
¨Of course, not. People would notice the little too good healing of his leg. Though doing so makes me break the vow...¨ He started to ponder.
Using Greenheart would make for much better recovery, but using it was taking a huge risk.
One which he wouldn't be taking.
¨No leave it like that. I still value keeping my head over my values¨ He said and continued to run the bandage roll around the huge open wound he had made.
To his decision, Xiao Fan outwardly noted only by making a nod again, while inwardly he was happy. He didn't want to use it either, yet had taken it out as a test.
A Two-sided test.
One was to see if Zhuan Shan would follow his code, or go for the risk.
The other was to see if Zhuan Shan was baiting him as in if he was trying to see if he would offer using it.
