When they reached the top of the mountain, Xiao Fan and Wang Geming saw nothing more than a small hut, and besides it, there was a tall stone that had been used as some kind of a balcony.
¨At least someone had lived here¨ Xiao Fan noted as they approached the hut at walking speed.
¨It would be nice to start the exploration with something nice¨ The Bald Eagle Dynasty Prince who had joined hands with him to conquer this world they called, spoke.
¨There is no need to rush this Prince. No one is going to take this find from you¨ He reminded this Prince, who to him felt smart, yet he did have the rush of youth and glory in his mind currently.
¨Just go and look¨ Wang Geming replied to his saying.
¨Going, going¨ Xiao Fan didn't refute his order of going to see the hut more closely, though he was a little unhappy from it. Wang Geming was the Body Shattering Realm peak cultivator, he could react much faster than he, but oh well, it was all the same if there were something that had Qi in it, in that case, both of them would drop dead the same way.
Qi wouldn't care which one of them came in contact.
'Take it calmly, and don't touch anything unnecessary' He told himself as he took steps and placed his hand onto the doorknob.
'I'm not dead' Was the first thought he had after his hand was on the doorknob, and as he wasn't dead, he opened the door and walked inside the hut while behind him Wang Geming moved around so that he could see the inside.
¨Still alive!¨ After a minute Wang Geming could hear Xiao Fan shouting from the inside.
¨Good, I'm coming in¨ He spoke and in a flash was he behind Xiao Fan, who was taking a look at a bookcase with an extremely thoughtful gaze that for a moment captivated the Prince, who had seen many scholars look at the books of the Imperial library, yet none of them had been this focussed.
However, as Xiao Fan was so focussed, and now taking a book, Wang Geming focussed on the other stuff inside the hut, though from looking around there was very little, the thing that interested him the most was the bed. The last person living here had for sure been a hermit who didn't do much, as mentioned before the hut was very simple, yet there was a massive bookshelf and a bed that looked luxurious to Wang Geming, a person of the Royal Family.
¨Could one of the Four Ancient Ones gone hermit and lived his days off in this hut?¨ Wang Geming spoke his thoughts aloud, wanting to hear the opinion of Xiao Fan.
Xiao Fan might be reading a book, one of his favourite activities, but having a Prince speak to him, he stopped his session ¨This should help your curiosity¨ He closed the book he was reading and then threw it.
¨It's something akin to a diary I think¨ He then added in when Wang Geming was inspecting the book.
¨I see, thank you; however, for now, we need to find something that will help us with our current target¨ He was happy to read the diary, but not now.
¨That book might hide it. I'm not here reading for fun, not yet at least¨ Xiao Fan said, his tone a little disappointed, he thought a Prince should know better.
¨Right, right. You continue to do that while I read this one¨ Wang Geming realising his mistake didn't speak more.
And Xiao Fan would forgive him, they were both still youths so getting meaning and reason from words wasn't everyone's strongest sides, like he, himself didn't get stuff without further explanation, so thinking Wang Geming would get was stupid. So after Wang Geming had begun to read the book, Xiao Fan likewise began to look at the names of the books again until he found something that should help.
'The last piece of the world' Was the books name that finally got Xiao Fan's interest high enough to be picked out by his hands, then opening the book, he knew this was what he was looking for, for in his hands, he had the story of this world. And as he knew that he had found the jackpot, he didn't read it to himself, but aloud so that the Prince would focus on his book that should be of the greater importance.
¨We could only save this piece of our old world¨ The book began with these words, though a few words it was indeed enough to get the attention of Wang Geming to him.
¨After that plague hit our world, we couldn't save it, we needed to save what wasn't sick, yet it was little very little, and we, having no way to keep this as an independent world have we decided to anchor the last piece of this world to the lower world right below us. The decision wasn't easy, and many of us decided to abandon the world altogether rather than continue live on this doomed rock, too small to offer anything for their people¨
¨I and the others don't blame them, and we, who are left will continue to preserve what is left of our world until...until something¨ Xiao Fan didn't need to read out more.
¨Lower world, independent-world, world, and worlds what does that mean?¨ The Prince questioned how the lines Xiao Fan had spoken constantly referred to this word ¨world¨
¨It exactly means what do you think, don't overthink, accept the fact that you can see¨ Xiao Fan having a little idea what worlds were wasn't hit too much; actually, the only thing of curiosity for him in this was the plague the book had mentioned.
¨Tell me what does it mean?¨ The Prince didn't accept this.
Knowing that Wang Geming was in denial, Xiao Fan closed the book, turned around to face the confused Prince ¨Prince you are a free-minded person. You know there is the Qi Continent somewhere out the, so how can't you think that there is something that is higher in the hierarchy than that place?¨
¨Second Prince, if you want to become someone great, you shouldn't put your focus on becoming the Heir to the Bald Eagle Dynasty. Simply accept reality and work with me here¨ Xiao Fan hoped that these words would make the Prince understand, yet it didn't.
Instead, these words made the Prince disappear from the hut.
'What? He can work with a noble from a faction he is in war with; however, he can't accept that his Empire isn't the biggest thing out there?' He wondered to himself as he walked outside the hut. Wanting to find Wang Geming luckily wasn't too hard as he hadn't gone further than the balcony.
Seeing him be up on the rock thinking, he didn't wait and jumped up there and stood behind him ¨Already running?¨
Yet his words didn't get anything back to them ¨Prince. This isn't very fitting¨
Yet again his words got no response ¨Is this your first time outside the Imperial Palace?¨
Saying this he finally got a response ¨Yes¨ The Prince confirmed that he was for the very first time going out from the Imperial Palace.
¨Have you ever fought anyone, struggled for your life once?¨
¨No¨
¨You fear something?¨
¨I don't like things that can't be explained, or so the teachers evaluate me. Pretty bad evaluation for a Prince that wants to become the Heir and the Emperor someday¨
'Yeah, this guy hasn't been to the outside world once. He is telling this all to me for no good reason' Xiao Fan could agree with those scholars that evaluated Wang Geming so. Since the Prince truly was a person who seemed not to like things that couldn't be explained by others.
¨I'm the opposite, I love the things that I don't know yet, unlike you, I want to discover them¨ He spoke while gazing into the world, they were in of, noting all the things he currently wanted to go and see, and this place held a lot of places that seemed very interesting to him.
Then there was the very opposite of him, for Wang Geming wasn't looking into the unknown with curiosity; instead, he was fearful of the things that the place would hold. What if the was something that would kill him? What if he didn't know what to do? What if someone else was the hero?
¨Its one life, there is no second one. Do you want to be called a Prince for the rest of your life? Fortune doesn't favour the strong it favours the bold!¨ Xiao Fan pushed this Prince, and if he wouldn't be soon getting this, he would simply leave him here or push the Rising Ruler through his back.
What was worse than laziness? What could be worse than being like the old Meng Chin he knew? It was being a coward. A coward who wouldn't take a single risk in one's life due to fearing failure.
However, favourably for the both of them, the Prince seemed to be getting what Xiao Fan was telling him ¨Right...right. I can't be here hoping that things will go my way, I need to create that path for myself, for no one else is going to be making that for me¨
However, just as he was getting it, Xiao Fan kicked the man in the back, and though it might have hurt him to do so, he didn't care as he, drawing out the Rising Ruler, then taking speed from the rock dived down behind the falling Prince.
The falling Prince didn't get what was happening, but as he got down and looked up, he knew he needed to dodge the incoming blow.
Luckily he was a Body Shattering Realm Fourth Grade, so this type of an attack from Xiao Fan was off little threat to him, but he still didn't want to stand and wait for the yellow sword to slice him in half.
Xiao Fan, on the other hand, was still going strong and when seeing the Prince dodging to the side, he placed his feet onto the stone he was coming down next to, then with a few steps, he had re-aimed himself to drop right on the Prince, who had both of his legs off the ground.
No dodging this one, the Prince realised and pulled his hands up to guard, forgetting his weapon as he had too much to think at the moment even without Xiao Fan doing this. Yet to his luck, he didn't feel the blade hitting and most likely shattering his arms, he only felt the airwave coming from the sword that had missed his hands just enough to be a miss.
Opening his eyes again, the Prince saw how Xiao Fan's weapon had penetrated the ground all the way till the guard, right in front of his shoes.
¨What the hell was that!¨ He screamed loudly as he could, yet didn't take action against this attacker who was calmly on the ground, not moving.
For Xiao Fan himself realising he had missed, was now quickly trying to think why had he done so. He had genuinely attempted to murder this useless Prince, yet now having failed spectacularly, he needed to create a very, very good answer for his actions.
Which was to say ¨I was testing you. Didn't you say that you had never felt how life itself had been ending? I just made you feel that¨ He told his lie to the man, who had his forehead wet from being scared like this.
Waiting for his response, he had the time to think that even with the reaction speed increase after eating the Bit of Wit, his reaction wasn't still fast and precise enough to hit that, which was somewhat of a disappointment to him. One would have thought that a legendary herb would be of more help, but then again, he had been punching over his weight class.
