I'm coming [68]

"why were you serving a disabled king?"

"it's a curse, the majority of his subordinates can't live without touching his shadow atleast twice a week" the girl softly answered

"curse? Oh yes... The usual bullshit, I can agree with it though.. Curses can be so helpful with politics but I'm not the man that puts it on everyone" the king replied while still holding his laugh, just thinking about the dumb king could fulfill his appetite more than an actual circus

-boom-

The room shook vigorously, no.. The entire castle shook. Just outside was a small squadron of wyverns numbering in twenty quietly flew above the clouds, strategic bombing would be the correct word to describe what they were doing. If you were a World War Two veteran sitting outside, the scene would certainly give you the unwelcoming flashbacks.

"they have the demon presence your magesty" Siddra informed while looking at the ceiling

Luckily the castle stood firmly like a giant Boulder, it was only left with a couple of broken roofs and wall but that small issue could be fixed within seconds by specialized mages. The squadron of wyverns quickly left, it seemed like they were only targeting the castle and not the houses. The king already knew that they were ganna return soon, in the past a command center near Moscow during the Soviet Era was awoken by the sound of an alarm, radar detected a few ICBM heading towards the Soviet Union, in an event of a nuclear attack by the US, it is stantard procedure to immediately launch a counter attack but the man in charge of the command center did nothing, his reasoning was if the US attacked with nukes, it would likely involve hundreds of missiles and not just a few. ©Yes this actually happened thank God that he did nothing xd®

The king knew that the wyverns would soon return but this time with a thousand more and probably an entire ground army as well, it is the demons after all, it doesn't matter to them if they lose a couple a hundred thousand demons. Without a second thought, the king ordered all of his own subordinates to ready its military and evacuate as much people as physically possible.

"wait, are you sure that they are coming back your majesty"

"this is too sudden, it would bring panic to our people"

"can all of you geezers shut up and do as I say?!" the king ordered while being annoyed

"... But your the geezer"

"I will!... haah, I know I know.. Now may you please do as I say"

"reporting! Sir"

A young soldier busted through the door, he stood firmly as he waited for his officer to acknowledge him. The officer seemed to be an old man in his 80's, even with his frail body the walls behind him were decorated with medals and trophies. If you were to describe him in one sentence, that sentence would probably be "A true Veteran". The Veteran was doing some paper work, he even struggled to write because the pen was too heavy for his arms to handle.

The old veteran ignored the young soldier and he kept doing the paperwork, the young soldier actually knew why he ignored him so he took a very deep breath and prapared his throat.

"REPORTING! SIR!"

"...oh.. what?" he finally replied

"scouts have found an army just a few dozen miles from the capital"

"oh.. send an army then.."

"the thing is... Sir, their dead.. All of them"

".... let me guess... demons, no general or soldier wants to be on active duty during the event of a demon war, I'm pretty lucky to be discharged before this war happened... Have you taken a look at the dead army?"

"no Sir.."

"good.. Your too young to see that"

"Sir?"

"... I've seen my friends die... I nearly died a couple times, got burned, almost got shot in the head... No one wants to experience that I tell you.... No one, go report these to the other officers.. I have paper work"

Such a weak and frail man, I've won these hundreds of medals and trophies, but at what cost. The old man was actually a general in the past, his sheer male physique was filled with so much testosterone that woman would just collapse in pleasure by simply touching it. Even if your strong and powerful, war would take everything from you, like the old General who lost his fitness, friends and basically most of the things he had.

The young soldier walked out of the room sweating buckets, what will happen to me in the future? Will I be like the old General? The young man thought nervously. A soldier is as easily terrified as normal person, soldiers are made to fight but they don't actually want to fight. Everyone doesn't want to die, even if your suicidal you always and probably will hesitate before pulling the trigger, everyone has that inner fear of death. The only cure for death, is to live.

(They are coming, the demons will come... I'm really scared... I have to live) the young soldier thought while making his way towards the other commanding officers
