On the Allies side of the line, there was a tent and US soldiers were spread out in the area.
In the tent, the Colonel was speaking as one of his office soldiers typed.
Just yesterday he was reported that five people crossed the lines and made their own plans for a rescue mission.
Three of those people were two Captains and one Sergeant, while Howard Stark and Agent Peggy Carter assisted them on the suicidal mission.
Colonel Phillips was so frustrated he didn't even bother lecturing Agent Carter or punish her for disciplinary actions.
Instead the Colonel told her to keep an eye out, and update him if anything changes.
And though he says that he didn't have much hope for the three men to make it, and he couldn't be blamed, the weapons and men in that HYDRA base were just too much for three men.
And so he is reporting that Captain Alfred "Alfie" McBride, Captain Steven G. Rogers, and Sergeant James Howlett are killed in action.
Finishing the report to the higher ups, the Colonel looked back to find Agent Carter walking in the tent bringing photographs.
"Our last surveillance flight is back...no sign of activities…" The Agent reported.
Colonel Phillips scratched his forehead dismissing the men who was typing for him before he moved to the sides and looked at nowhere particularly.
"I can't touch Stark he's rich, and is the Armies #1 weapons contractor, you are neither one!" Colonel Phillips said jerking his head back pointing at the Agent.
"With respect, sir, I don't regret my actions, and i don't believe they do either." Agent Carter said.
"What makes you think I give a damn about your opinions, I took a chance with you Agent Carter and now a good Captain, America's golden boy and a lot of other good men are dead." Colonel Phillips said as he trotted around.
"Now not only do I have to report it to the Senator I have to tell the General at France about Captain McBride, he wanted him to go back, but now I have to tell him otherwise…all this because you had a crush."
"It wasn't that...I had faith." Agent Carter said.
"Yeah well your faith is gonna shut this division down…"
That was when they heard commotion outside the tent, they looked to find men running crowding the entrance to the front lines.
"What the hell is going on out there.."
Colonel rushed to the crowd followed by Agent Carter.
A few meters from the entrance walked in a group, in the lead was Steve Rogers and Bucky by his side while everyone was following behind.
They soon made their way in as all the soldiers in the camp watched in awe.
They recognized these people as the one captured yesterday in battle, geared up with the HYDRA weapons and big tanks manufactured by HYDRA factories.
The tanks were much bigger than the usual ones they saw.
As the front stopped, the Colonel came and saw that Steve was in the lead, Agent Carter then made her appearance as well.
There was a moment of silence between the group before Steve saluted at the Colonel and spoke.
"Some of these men need medical attention."
As they stood there speaking, back on the line a bit farther back Alfie was snoring and sleeping in the back of the military vehicle.
James on the other hand just woke up and started shaking Alfie to wake up.
"Hmm?"
"We're here…" James said.
Alfie slowly and lazily got up, he saw that Steve started speaking to the Colonel and looking proud and all.
Alfie's mouth opened wide as he yawned before stepping out of the jeep, but not before thanking the young soldier that has been driving them.
Alfie gave the duffle bag he had with him to James to carry as he went to the back to grab a dead deer with its legs entangled with a rope.
As they made their way here, at one point Alfie went to the woods to pee when he saw a deer, he suddenly remembered Luna and chased killing the deer and took it for her.
"Come on, let's sneak outta here." Alfie said as him and James turned to the right escaping the cringy applause and awe the soldiers were showing.
As they sneaked out though, te Colonel caught a sight of them, their suits are colorful in this group.
"I'd like to surrender myself for disciplinary actions." Steve said to the Colonel.
"That won't be necessary…" The Colonel decided before looking at Agent Carter.
"Faith huh?"
As Colonel walked away, Peggy walked up to Steve.
"You're late…"
Steve then took out the transponder and showed her that it was shot through, he told her that he couldn't call his ride.
Peggy then looked around before frowning and looking at Steve.
"Where are Captain McBride, and Sergeant James?" Peggy asked.
"Oh!! Right!!" Steve's eyes widened as he looked back and tried to find Alfie and James when Bucky shouted getting everyone's attention.
"Let's hear it for Captain America!!"
Soldiers clapped and chanted, Peggy was smiling at Steve as Steve was busy trying to get everyone to quiet down so he could tell them he didn't do it alone.
But the crowd didn't stop, at the end of the day Captain America was taking all the credit, but some of the rescued soldiers, and others knew there were two more men that helped.
From the far side, two men walked with bloodied suits, each carrying something over their shoulders.
"Ready to go back to the Germans front, Sergeant?" Alfie asked not turning around.
"So we're going back now?" James asked.
He felt like Alfie knew about what would happen here, what else would he be doing here at the perfect moment Bucky was captured.
But he didn't care much, if all this was just to help a friend then nothing else matters to him.
"Yup, it's about time we go back, I saw something back at the HYDRA base…" Alfie said quietly.
James didn't ask what, he did wait for Alfie to say what it was.
"Our Allies at France are being pushed back, and hard as well, it won't take long until HYDRA takes back Normandy and pushes for London." Alfie said.
"It's reasonable considering the power HYDRA has been hiding behind the Nazi's." James commented.
"Yeah, and I wish to achieve one of my goals before time runs out…" Alfie said.
"Your goal? You talking about Adolf Hitler?"
"Damn straight, even Johann would be after his head soon enough." Alfie said.
As they walked a good amount away from the charades to go to the SSR's underground worklab, someone called out.
"Captain!!..." Alfie and James paused as they slowly looked back at Colonel Phillips who walked comfortably to them.
"Oh, Sir!" Alfie saluted along with James, although lazily.
"Sorry Sir, I've been busy so you weren't able to see me since yesterday, I had to-"
"Cut the crap McBride, I know you went along with chorus boy on the rescue mission, good work on bringing him back alive." Colonel Phillips said.
"Oh no Colonel, you got something wrong, I didn't do anything for Steve, we had different objectives and he was the one that got out all the men alive today, he could also take care of himself I didn't need to protect him…" Alfie said.
"So you are admitting that you did go?..." Colonel Phillips had his hands on his hips as if he caught Alfie.
"Well…"
"I get Rogers breaking military law and all...but you, you should know better." Colonel said.
"Hey, you said if I could do anything to push back the line, than that was good enough, and I did, we did." Alfie said.
They stood there for a while before the Colonel pointed at the duffle bag and dead deer asking what those were about.
"Oh these are gifts, this is for my wolf and the bag is full of experimental toys HYDRA was toying with." Alfie said.
"It seems you were busy...y'all go and clean up now, I expect to see you this afternoon at the strategic building." The Colonel said before walking off.
"You don't show much restraint to your superiors." James said as they started walking.
"As if you're any different, don't you know? Our company is known to be a bit straightforward to their previous commanders, but not me, it seems I've tamed them." Alfie smiled.
"It's because you're just like them, you're chippy with the higher ups and love a good bloody fight." James said.
The two went to the labs first to drop off their hauls, to say Stark was excited was an understatement.
The moment he heard what was in the bag, Howard snatched the bag away from tJames and took everything out one by one as he fully focused on them.
Alfie dropped the dead deer inside the cage Luna was in and let her eat in peace.
James left first as Alfie stayed talking to Howard for a bit before also leaving.
By the time it's morning both James and Alfie washed up and cleaned up, Alfie wore his Military Captain Uniform with all the colors on his left peck.
James stayed after Alfie said he didn't have to come to the debrief, so James stayed getting drunk and smoking.
As Alfie cleaned up and walked around the base, everyone recognized him better like on the papers.
That wasn't it, as today the Newspaper spread.
Today everyone now knows that a Captain named Alfred McBride and a Sergeant named James Howlett went against a Fortress alone and succeeded.
The paper was written by Margearet-Bourke who worked for Stars and Stripes.
Her first paper about Deathstroke was when Captain McBride took his 100+ men company and took back Fort Rennes.
But now the papers today say only Captain McBride and one of his men Sergeant James Howlett along with his wolf stormed and took back Fort Nantes alone.
A two-man team with a wolf.
This news was unbelievably ridiculous, it was Legendary.
To say it brought up the morals of every Allied soldier was an understatement, the name Alfred McBride along with James Howlett will become something more than names.
It will be a symbol as much as Captain America will, Captain McBride had his own Bucky as well, James Howlett.
Captain America may be the poster boy for America, but Alfred McBride will become the symbol of a wolf.
The Wolf of America.
The papers just came in this morning so the ones reading it now are amazed, that very Captain was walking in the base trying to get to somewhere completely in the dark about what's on the papers.
Alfie saw the soldiers talking and pointing at him, but the only explanation he came up with is that the soldiers haven't seen him dressed properly.
Since her always wear his plated armour or is naked instead.
Today everyone came to know the Wolf of America.
Tomorrow, everyone will know about the real Captain America.
Two legends who grew up together in New York to fight the enemies together, two men who are truly admired despite the fact that their weapons of choice is a sword and a shield.
Bucky and James would also be known as their closest ally in the battlefield.
Alfie was able to hitch a ride from one of the soldiers whos job was to drive officers around.
Alfie noticed the young soldier kept staring at him so he asked if he was alright.
What he got in return was that the young man was a fan, and admired him.
Everything was cool as the soldier got to know Alfie, he was laid back for a Captain.
At the end of the drive Alfie signed the young soldiers helmet for keeps and all.
Under his arms were papers big and small as he made his way inside the Strategic war room, everyone was looking at him as well.
It made Alfie pause as he checked his uniform to see what's up, to see if there was something wrong, he concluded that he was becoming too handsome taking away all the attentions.
He soon arrived at the war table and there were a few officers fgere along with Steve, Peggy and the Colonel.
As Alfie arrived they turned to him looking at him just as everyone else did as he came here.
"Okay what the hell is going on? I've been getting stares all afternoon, so what?" Alfie paused asking.
"Is...is this true?" Steve asked as he stepped forward handing Alfie the newspaper he was reading.
Alfie looked through it and on a big bolted letters were:
(Another Great Feat By Deathstroke)
"Oh haha, I see Marge is already putting my name out again...well I'm glad he mentioned James as well, couldn't have done it without him." Alfie said not paying attention to the unbelievable expressions around.
"How? How is that possible? For two men to take on a highly defended Fortress?" Peggy thought aloud.
"Well first, it's not two, it's two men and a wolf, Luna, and we just had a good plan." Alfie commented.
Colonel on the other side of the table muttered something about how many Super Soldier could there be.
"Didn't I tell you about it Steve?" Alfie asked looking at his long time friend.
"No, you told me about Fort Nantes as your last operation before coming here...I just never thought it was only you and James." Steve said.
"Ahh, we'll talk about this later…" Alfie said as he walked up putting the papers he carried here on the war table.
"...plus, it's not like it's impossible, you freed the men all by yourself even with higher chances of danger from HYDRA.
Me and James had it easier with the Nazi's, they only had mechanical arms." Alfie said.
They got over the topic after a while, Steve then mapped out the area he saw HYDRA locations in.
It was then that Alfie put the papers he brought on the table, the Colonel asked what they were.
"Most of the external help HYDRA is receiving, but that's not it, Johann Schmidt was trying to spread more than his HYDRA organization, there are names, locations, and deals about every group Johann either tried to take over or partner up with.
From the more public and crowded nations there are officials, societies, and crime families who opted to connect itself with HYDRA, while on the more darker sides, there are secret organizations that's been implanted since ancient times, believe it or not Colonel, these are enemies we don't have enough manpower to deal with, I suggest dealing with HYDRA before seeing what these organizations are capable of." Alfie said.
"So that's what you were doing, getting intel." Steve said looking at Alfie next to him.
"More or less, I was able to get to the most important office in that tower before the place was blown to pieces." Alfie said.
"That's good work, McBride, we'll put these information for another team, our main objective now is for HYDRA, then we can see these so called shadow groups." Colonel said.
"Agent Carter coordinate with the MI6, I want every Allied eyeball looking for that HYDRA base.
Set another team on the side to look into these groups helping HYDRA, by the time we are done with HYDRA we'll deal with them accordingly." Colonel said.
"What about us?" Peggy asked.
"We are gonna set a fire under Johann Schmidt's ass." The Colonel said as he received some papers from an office worker.
That was when Alfie saw the woman handing the Colonel papers.
He immediately recognized her, it was the girl Steve was kissing on one of the scenes, or more better Queen Margery Tyrell in the Game of Thrones series.
In his past life she was Natalie Dormer, but Alfie doesn't know that, no he was only smiling at her.
He had an expression on that he would always use to catch girls off guard, and it worked.
At first the woman looked at Alfie surprised he was looking at her, she didn't smile or anything but as she saw his uniform and unfailing smile she smiled back.
The others didn't realize this confrontation as they spoke.
The Colonel left Steve to make his own team, he then asked what Alfie's plan was.
But he didn't answer.
Not hearing his voice, Steve, Peggy, and the Colonel turned just to see Alfie and the blonde woman having a stare off licking their own lips.
"Captain!!" The Colonel barked.
Alfie and the woman came back to reality, the woman walked off while Alfie was getting stared down.
Steve looked embarrassed for his friend while Peggy looked at Alfie hopelessly.
The Colonel was just staring Alfie down as he scratched the back of his head laughing.
"Well we plan to go back to France tomorrow or the next, you can leave the two HYDRA factories in France to me, me and my company will take care of it." Alfie said.
••••••
As the night came, most of everyone went to the bar to have a wild night.
As Alfie went back to their temporary tent, he didn't have to ask twice before James agreed on coming to the bar.
If anything, the bar was a place of treasure to men like James and Alfie.
As they got a ride to outside the base, Alfie handed the days papers to James.
When James read that their exploits at Fort Nantes were on the papers his eyes widened and the cigar on his mouth fell.
Not only because of how heroic and impossibly exaggerated it was made to sound, but these papers were spread across just America and Canada where he is from, and his name was on it.
"Colonel Phillips told me that the Senator at London wishes to give us medals of Valour and whatever…" Alfie said.
Alfie wasn't going to make it because just like Steve who didn't show up for his medal, he would rather spend time on the field.
And he thought James wouldn't care either for the medals, and he was right because James didn't react to the award.
They soon reached the agreed bar they and Steve were meeting at.
When they walked in, they saw Steve already working on recruiting the future HC's, though it didn't take long though, all it did was buy them drinks and such.
Alfie and James made some conversations with the few on that table, and got to know them a bit before grabbing some stools to sit with Steve and Bucky.
The others thought that Alfie and James were men under Steve, but when they finally cleared it up that Alfie was a Captain himself and James was under him they were surprised, they definitely thought they would fight alongside each other more.
By the time Alfie sat next to Steve and James plopped himself on his left already ordering drinks, the men on the other room stopped singing.
And just as Alfie thought Peggy walked in with not only her usual red lips but with a red dress.
Steve and Bucky stood up to talk to her as Alfie and James just sat and drank smoking cigars.
Alfie saw that even thought Bucky was talking to Peggy, she was still looking at Steve, but what alfie also noticed is Bucky speaking in place for Steve instead.
She came to tell Steve that Howard had some equipments he wanted Steve to try out, which she also told Alfie of.
During their little talks about dancing, she was about to leave, but with Alfie's immature side, there had to be something happened.
"Oh sorry."
Alfie said, before...he shoulder pushed Steve's back as he stumbled onto Peggy almost pushing her down, but Steve caught her as they did another moment of silent staring.
As they got up and tidied themselves, Steve looked at Alfie with a serious look and told him to stop doing that, alfie raised his hand in surrender as Peggy gave her farewells.
They then had a sit down and moved to curious topics, like why Steve felt James is more than...human.
Or like how only Alfie and James could take on a fort alone.
