Time to say Goodbye

Matt looked at the little girl who had captured his heart in less than twenty four hours and felt like a jerk for having to break her heart, but he also realized that he could not spend more time with her. Because the more she got attached to him the more she would have to suffer in the future. He had planned to drop them home and leave immediately but here he was having a tea party with some other princess dolls instead of running away from here at the fastest speed.

Picking up a dainty cup, he pretended to sip the tea, and said," Little Ella, we need to have a word." But instead of listening to him, Ella ran from her room. She, of course knew what her prince wanted to say and her mama had already explained that he had been just passing through their town but she did not want to say goodbye yet! Pouting, she took out a small camera from her bag and walked back to her room. She knew she would gat a scolding from mama if she behaved more like this and even her prince may refuse to let her talk to him again. If she could let him go, then maybe he would not mind leaving her his cell phone number so that she could call him sometimes.

Inside, she saw her room was empty and was immediately scared that her prince was gone! Her eyes filling up with tears, she raced outside and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him collecting take out. Mama had fallen asleep on the couch because of the effects of the medicine and Aunt An was going to be here later in the evening.

Matt turned back and met little Ella's teary eyes and was shocked at the sight. She had been fine just now.. then why were her eyes moist so suddenly? Placing the food on the nearby table, he walked to her and immediately picked her up," What is it little Ella? Why are you crying?"

Shaking her head, Ella pouted," I did not want to say good bye to you? Matt? Will you click a picture with me so that I can remember you when you leave? And can I call you sometimes in the future? I promise I will not call very often and not disturb you."

Looking at her grief filled face, Matt felt his own heart throb painfully. Taking out a pen and a card, he wrote down something on it and passed it to her." This is my number and this card has my elder brother's number. If you ever want to talk to me, you just have to call this number and even if I am unable to talk to you, call my brother and he will find me for you. Alright? Now don't cry. We will take a nice picture." Jumping into his arms, Ella cried harder and whispered, "Thank you. thank you.. thank you..."

For the first time in a long while, Matt closed his eyes and let the tears that had been trapped in his eyes for so long, escape. If his child had survived, maybe they would have grown up to be as cute as this little pixie. At this moment, he made a vow to himself. One he had never thought of. He would do his best to protect this little girl from all evils in the world. Soon, Ella pulled back her thin arms and gave him a big toothy smile with a little difficulty," This is my camera! You need to go sit on the chair. I will place the camera on that table and click pictures with this little remote.

Agreeing with everything she would say, Matt walked to the chair and sat down calmly. Placing the camera on the table, Ella checked the angle, grabbed the remote and ran to her prince screaming, "Say cake!". Climbing onto his lap, Ella threw her thin arms around his neck and smiled widely before clicking the button. And like a pro, she had captured the perfect picture with herself and Matt smiling widely at the camera, their dimples matching each other perfectly...
