Drunk again

Jonah Deng watched everything unfold from one corner of the room silently. He looked at Ying Yue who was still clasped within the arms of Yawen and could feel his heart constricting. He knew he was the last person to join the gang, and also the one with no other connection to the rest than just being friends with them.

Jia Yawen's family and the Huo family has been friends for generations, as they were a few of the oldest noble families to still exist in power. Bai Ming was Uncle Yin's adopted son, and Shi Zixuan's family has always been in the business of protecting the old families.

Jonah Deng was a hustler in life. His father lost all his wife's fortune by gambling with the wrong business partners and their decisions. His beautiful and fragile mother who had been shining once like a fresh dew was broken by his father's stupidity. Hounded by debtors, his father had committed suicide, which drove his mother insane. But he still held on, and was taken in by his mother's brother who did not have any children of his own. He was a strict man, but fair. His aunt was cold, but for most part left him alone.

He had lost the spark in life and was wandering around aimlessly just doing the things his uncle had wanted him to do. That was when he had come across a small girl who was seriously mixing two chemical compounds in two beakers with a huge goggles on her face. She held the beakers with gloved hands. She was hiding in a small hallway in their school, he had the urge after a long time to cut class when he came across her. She looked up at him from the floor she was sitting cross legged.

" Help me." She ordered him. He had no idea why he sat beside her in the hallway that day. But he was glad that he did. He was glad that he helped her change the hair colour of some girls who had bullied someone. Because his unsettled heart found its partner that day.

She was always upto one mischief or the other, and he was always her partner in crime. She liked being mischievous without being too obvious about it. And on the off chance they get caught, she always protected him, knowing his uncle's nature. It was a new feeling for him, being protected by someone. And she was also the reason he became friends with Jian Long and the others. Sure, now their friendship is cemented, and nothing short of hurting Ying Yue would break them apart.

But it still hurt him that she was still angry at him. If he had the chance, he would do the same thing again though. She was emotionally fragile, and believed in the goodness of people, even when there was only evilness present. But he knew she was just making a scene, and once he talked to her alone, she would be back to treating him the same as before. Sometimes, her diva attitude comes out without even her realising it. It was not that she has not been talking to him these past years, it's just that she has stopped treating him as her friend, instead of always referring to him as Jian Long's friend.

" I will inquire about grey eyes." Jonah muttered. He knew Ying Yue would hate it that he was taking the initiative to find out about the person, when she specifically asked them not to find him, but protecting someone means doing the things they hate sometimes. He would rather protect her than be on her good side.

" Do not interact on your own if you find him, we'll observe him first." Warned Yawen, his eyebrows furrowed.

Everyone nodded a little.

" I will take her to my condo. Others a." Said Yawen as he lifted Ying Yue princess style.

No one objected as Yawen carried their Baby Huo to the private elevator that led to the parking lot.

It was a scene that was not new for them. Even though Jian Long was Ying Yue's cousin, her relationship with Yawen was something even more precious. Yawen and JianLong have been thrown together from birth, just because of their families. They had barely tolerated each other, but it changed the moment Elder Huo brought Baby Huo to the Huo mansion one night they were forced to have a sleepover. Even though Jianlong was not affected much by his mother's negative influence, he was still a bit restrained with his emotions in front of her. But for Yawen it was different. From the moment he saw her, he claimed her a part of his heart. Their families once made the mistake of asking them if they want to be married to each other. Ying Yue had been sixteen at that time and that was the first time se had yelled at her grandfather. To her, YingYue was family, and to even think otherwise was blasphemous for her. As for Yawen, he did not talk to his mother an entire week, which was the biggest punishment she had ever received, so she never brought up the topic ever again.
