Brain Hole

(At The Lu Household)

In a large bedroom with soft beige carpeting and windows covered with beautiful white curtains.

Isaac carried a drowsy Cody to his queen-sized bed with large and soft green covers. There, almost as of it were waiting for him Cody's orange teddy bear sat upright on his pillow.

Isaac tucked Cody into his bed and sat at his side. He gently rubbed Cody's head to soothe the tired boy.

Cody laid on his side and felt his eyes droop down until they gently closed. But even though Cody seemed to be asleep Issac kept petting Cody's soft hair.

As he did he noticed how Cody's breathing eased and the corners of lips slightly curved upward. As if he was unconsciously responding to his father's hand.

Isaac felt his lips do the same, even though Cody could be such a smart ass. Isaac loved his son with all his being.

Isaac kept gazing at the sleeping Cody and he whispered, " *Mmm* Cody, sometimes I think you're too smart for your own good.

I know you think Zoey was forced into her marriage to Alex but if you saw how she acted at the hospital, *hah*, you would change your mind so quickly. That woman obviously can't be forced into anything.

Now, I know this might be hard for you to understand but sometimes people do crazy stuff and suffer for things like...love.

*sigh* I know if you were awake you would completely shut me down but the fact probably is that even though Alex doesn't treat her well, Zoey probably really loves him. So much so that, she's even willing to let him cheat on her.

And I find it hard to believe that her father would do something so cruel. I don't know how but I heard that her mother is quite the piece of work so she might have something to do with it. But I'm sure Zoey is a good person despite her wicked mother."

"WHAT?!" Cody exclaimed to himself while keeping a peaceful sleeping face.

Yes, the truth was Cody was never really asleep well he did sleep on the car ride over but he woke up immediately when the car stopped.

So when Isaac carried Cody to bed, Cody was just waiting for him to go so he could take out his tablet that he had stashed under his pillow.

But he did enjoy Isaac rubbing his head, he even almost fell back to sleep a few times.

But after what he just said, Cody wanted facepalm so hard. "*Ugh* Dad, how on earth did you build this company before I was born?!

*Sigh* And just because sister doesn't want to be with you doesn't automatically mean she's in love with someone else. And she loves her mom and from what she told she's an angel.

Besides she told me she likes girls, so even if she wasn't in love with somebody else she won't be looking at you anytime soon.

The only reason I haven't told you is that I'm afraid you'll do something stupid."

While Cody was angrily ranting in his head he unconsciously wrinkled his nose. Isaac saw this and gently rubbed his nose with his thumb.

"*Shh shh shh* It's alright bud. I know it's hard to hear, but I promise I'll win her, and I promise we'll be a happy family and she'll be the best mommy."

Cody rolled his eyes on the inside but he made sure to unwrinkle his nose as to relieve his father. "She's not a trophy and even if I wanted her to be mom, which I don't. I can't imagine what our and her family might put her through and there's a chance that shrew could come back to mess with her.

Based on her past actions, sister might just bash their heads in. But the fact that none of this has occurred to you dad is a big reason why she doesn't like you." Cody scolded his father in his head.

Isaac sighed through his nose in relief when Cody unwrinkled his nose. He then whispered, " Good night Cody, I love you." Before grabbing his teddy bear and placing it in his arms.

He then took his hand off of Cody's head, quietly got off the bed and tiptoed out of the room, closing the door silently behind him.

After a few minutes of waiting to make sure it was clear Cody sat up and hurriedly pulled out his tablet and clutched his teddy bear with his free arm.

"I should warn my big sister that dad might do something dumb. God, it's like someone just took a spoon and carved a huge hole into his brain. He's been dumb but never this dumb it's almost unrealistic." Cody thought as he buried his chin into the head of his bear.

After typing out a lengthy message to Zoey Cody pressed send and mulled over what to do next until a question popped into his head.

He then searched up, ' Are brain holes hereditary?' and started scrolling through the results. "If there's a chance I might inherit a brain hole as big as dad's I might as well do the research." Cody thought.

(7:50 am Back In Zoey's Room)

Zoey laid on her side still in the clothes she had before she collapsed. Zoey's eyebrows furrowed before her eyes gently fluttered open.

Zoey was a bit disoriented, her vision was a little blurry and she couldn't remember a thing.

But barely a minute after she woke up everything came flooding back. Making Zoey's eyes widen and causing her to shoot up on the bed like a rocket.

[Miss Zoey?]

Her hair was frazzled and a patch of dried drool covered her left cheek. She didn't seem to hear Sky as she rubbed a finger on her upper lip only to find there was nothing there.

Confused, Zoey got out of bed and walked to her mirror. She stood in front of the mirror and her confusion grew. Besides a horrifying case of bed hair and drool, there was nothing on her face.

Zoey whipped her head around to look at her bed. Now instead of confused, she was downright thunderstruck.

There was nothing on her bed either, " Huh? The bedspread changed." Zoey blurted out.

The light pink sheets, blanket, and pillowcase were replaced by ones of a darker shade of pink.

[Miss Zoey? Are you alright?]

Finally acknowledging the inquiring voice in the head Zoey responded, " Uh, yeah, yeah I think so. Sky what happened last night?"

[ Oh, yes! After you collapsed I tried my best to wake you, but it was to no avail. It wasn't until early in the morning did your brother and mother come home. Your mother peeked in, to check on you and when she saw your condition she called your brother in. Once she did, they both turned pale.

They stared at for a few minutes and that's when Zack approached lifted you off the bed and held you in his arms. It looked like both of them were struggling to hold back tears at this point.

Zack checked your pulse and nodded which seemed to cue your mother to strip off your sheets, blankets, and pillowcase and take them out of the room.

Meanwhile, your brother wiped the blood off your face. Then your mother came back in with a new bedspread and made your bed.

Then Zack put you back on the bed and they both kissed you on the head and...they just...left.]

Zoey was stunned, why didn't they call for help, why were they so used to this?

Zoey's mind filled with questions.

"*sob sob* Zoe, oh Zoey, Zoey." Chloe's faint cries were able to reach Zoey's ears even with her door closed.

"Mom?" Zoey muttered and quietly walked to the door. She pressed her ear against the door just in time to hear Zack speak up, " Mom, what're we gonna do?"

Zoey's ear was pressed so hard against the door now that it would cut into the wood.

"She's getting worse mom. We need to do something, anything." Zack insisted with his voice cracking.
