... Through the confusion, the chief examiner grabbed onto the mic again as he spoke…
"The new format will be as follows, we will be pairing off the support and the scouts to do their exams, it will be straight forward and fairly simple, the scouts will have to accomplish their missions while the support is supposed to provide well… support.
You will all be participating at the same time and it will be entirely up to you to find a team. For the scouts, upon entering the arena, you will have to select a mission, from there you can either seek help from support, or you can complete it on your own. For the support, you can either help a scout or help each other. We will judge based on your ability and how you react to real-time situations."
Amongst the crowd, familiar faces like Cali and Wallace stood out, a number of scouts were stretching their legs, the supports were smiling as they got ready for the exams, they were nervous and scared, but they were still students who went through training and they trust the process.
The offence and vanguard students stood rooted as they continued to glance on the stage, waiting for the chief examiner to continue speaking.
"For the vanguards and offence teams, I know all of you are anxious and excited so I won't tease you any longer. This year we decided to try to hold a capture the flag for the offence and vanguard teams.
In essence, the goal of capture the flag would be to defend your flag while running into the opponent's base and capturing theirs.
This time, however, the vanguards will have to defend multiple important compounds, where the offence team has to assault multiple compounds. All of these are to be done on a single stage and the defence and offence portions will be run simultaneously.
There will be 3 generals for the opponent team each controlling their own soldiers, if you have watched the trial for the offence team, you should already be familiar with our AI that was used."
"What the heck! I thought our nightmare was over!"
"Three AI? We can't even win one how can we even get past 3"
The students on the ground started panicking, it wasn't only the offence team who had faced the AI directly before but the vanguard who saw the decimation of the offence team who was panicking as well.
"Now now, I would like to point out that there are 3 generals, but there are also many of you here. Not to mention, the AI has been reverted to a form where it had been at the beginning of the last trial. So there really is nothing to worry about.
Once you enter this exam, you will have approximately 40 minutes to discuss a plan, maybe choose a leader and prepare for the defence/ assault.
Now I have to warn all of you, we have allowed the soldiers to transition from just using cold weapons to some of them able to equip manifests that were learnt by you, in any case, it is still a simulation and if your HP reaches 0, just lie on the ground and we'll have someone come pick you up.
The goal of the entire exams is to see who the school can foster, to see who has leadership capabilities, who has great intelligence and who can stand out the most. Now I know everyone is thinking of ways they can try to stand out, but let me just tell you, once again, that teamwork is an important factor here too. If you neglect teamwork and everyone fails, you can forget about getting a good result too."
The students started to look around, naturally many gravitated towards a few notable names, they wanted to be close to those that had a higher chance to succeed and were stronger in order to increase their chance of survival.
"Master Basil, there is no doubt you will do well"
A young lady approached from behind as she winked at Basil, who looked generally uninterested.
"Yes, I honestly think that young master Basil should be the leader of this exam, you can guide all of us to victory."
As Basil and his lackeys were somewhat soaking in the attention, with more and more people approaching them.
Soli was rejecting all sorts of advances by people who wanted to leech off her.
Shaking her head she pulled Arlene and Ashli who were beside her and walked towards Vero, Odrunn and Z.
"So what are your thoughts for the exams, what's the best way around it?"
Soli asked the 3 of them as she approached.
"Honestly, the best way is to split into teams and attack different objectives, the issue with the whole thing is the three generals, if we don't deal with them, we will be in trouble.
The goal is to let as many people get as far as possible with as little people using their manifest as possible.
For me, I would put less emphasis on defending the structures and more emphasis on the offensive. After all, we will still survive with 1 structure remaining. So it's best to sacrifice the rest in order to secure victory."
Vero replied, he had thought of the scenario in his head and ran through many situations and this was what he had come up within the end.
"Honestly, your plan is not wrong, but the question is, how are we evaluated? If it's just about surviving and taking out the enemy, we'd do pretty well, but if the structures were lost and there was only one remaining won't the vanguards fail their job then?"
Soli voiced her opinions, sending Vero deep in thought.
"I never thought about it that way, now I'll have to think up another plan. Odrunn, what are your thoughts on this?"
Vero threw the ball onto Odrunn. Ashli and Arlene didn't expect much from Odrunn, after all, what would he say that they haven't thought about before. Most of the time he was this happy go lucky guy who was just around.
