Glitch Item

Iron Sword…

Health Potion…

A Sunflower…

Wooden plank…

Fireball skill book...

And many more items disappeared and appeared with each step Aiden took.

"What the hell with all these useless items appearing? I have taken at least 500 steps, and 99% of the items were trash. If I knew it would be like this, I would have just kept with the mirror." Aiden sighed.

He deeply regretted losing that sword. He even thought about keeping that mirror if it was to appear again.

He then took another step, and an item appeared on the ground. He picked it up to have a closer look.

In his hand, he held a red dagger.

"This dagger is not bad. I should keep this but..." Aiden hesitated though. After seeing the Timeless Primordial Sword, he knew nothing else could compare to it.

He brought up his menu and saw the timer with a message next to it.

"It seems I have less than a minute before I am kicked out of the game. After that, I will end up with this dagger..."

He stood still as time was ticking. But he felt the urge to take another step.

Fifteen seconds left before he would be kicked out.

"Shit. What should I do? It is like a ticking time bomb..."

Ten-second left for him to decide.

"Whatever, I am probably going to be ban for hacking. I might as well try one last time."

He took another step, and the dagger vanished from his hand, and a scroll appeared on the floor.

He was greatly disappointed to see it. Nonetheless, he quickly picked it up and stored it in his inventory. He did not have time to check it because time was running out, but he would do so after he can log back in.

Times up and Aiden disappeared from the darkness.

Unbeknownst to him or anybody, the darkness became an empty void before space collapsed on itself until nothing.

Aiden opened his tired eyes and felt fatigued for an unknown reason.

"Now it would take me another day before I can log in." He said.

He was laying on a bed like he last remembered. But for some reason, it seemed really dark inside, and he could hear owls hooting outside. "It is rare for an owl to appear in the city. And why is it so cold? Did I turned on the AC to high?"

Aiden got up and rubbed his eyes. His vision was blurry and was taking time to focus.

"Was my room always this big...? Wait a minute; this is not my room." Aiden vision was getting clearer, and now he could see where he was at. "Where is this place? Is this another glitch… Did I not log out?"

The room was old and shabby. It had a similar feel to it as if he was still in the game.

He was full of questions, but no answer. With a voice command, a menu appeared before him.

The timer appeared '-00:00:00' on the menu.

"I never see that before. This is definitely a glitch from that place." He was getting anxious and wanted to log out. He kept tapping the button faster and faster, but nothing.

"No! This can be happening! Why I cannot log out?" He kneeled in despair. He never imagined something like this would ever happen. He was trapped in the game, Verse-Way.

From across the room, a young teen was walking up to him. It seemed that Aiden woke him up from talking to himself.

"What is wrong? Did you have a bad dream?" The teen appeared malnourished, and his clothes filled with holes. He came up to the small boy to hug him tightly. "It is ok. I promise that we will get a better place to live in. I, Hendrick Greene, will promise you that, Aiden."

Aiden was confused. The young teen boy was skinny, but Aiden avatar was taller than him, or so he thought. He remembered that he was at least 5'7" tall, so it felt weird for him to be hug like he was a short person.

He instinctively checked his character stat.

'That is not my character name. It should be Zell instead. And what with these low stats...' He thought anxiously.

Whatever was happening to him was significantly out of his expectation. Even his friend's list was wiped out.

"Go to sleep, ok? We got a lot of work tomorrow." Hendrick patted Aiden head before going back to sleep.

Aiden nodded absentmindedly and went back to his bed. On a closer look, the bed was just a potato sack filled with hay which horses eat. He flopped down on his back and looked at the ceiling.

His menu was still open and was looking for more info about his situation.

"There should be a character's history. Perhaps it will tell me about my situation." Character's history was a feature that the community asked for, and then developers later implemented it. The Character's History feature automatically track their adventures, the enemies they fought, the quest they were doing, and even the emotions they felt. Of course, they need to opt into it due to privacy.

To his surprise, there was a character's history.

He never opts in for the system to record him since he was doing shady stuff.

Being paranoid, he disabled the feature and read through his character's history.

It was like reading a personal diary.

"Aiden Greene, a 13-year old boy, born in a small town, but came to the Well Cloud Kingdom because of his parents. The only family he has is Hendrick Greene. His parents were thieves and died when they tried to rob someone four years ago. Hendrick and him now work as graverobbers."

There was a lot more information, but Aiden summarized the key points. He thought that it was a huge coincidence that his name matches this boy. He sighed as he looked at his small hand. He did not want to say it before, but when nothing made sense, then it was appropriate to reach an illogical conclusion.

"I am a NPC… I am stuck in this game as an NPC. That suck so much. Even more, my stats are lower than someone playing the game the first time."

He did not want to say it out loud, but the character's history proved it. When a character was first made, it would show a date when they first arrived in this world. But in his character's history, it said he was born.

"An NPC growth is so slow compared to being a player. Unless they are born strong with special ability, it is not worth leveling an NPC as a teammate. I read that there were people who teamed up with an average NPC, but soon later abandon them since it was taking too long to level them."

He sighed another time and switched off the character's history. He was about to wave his menu away, but he was his inventory icon blinking.

"Wait? There is a new item in my inventory." Since this was a new character somewhat, he thought he would start out with nothing.

He opened it up to see a scroll he got from that glitchy place.

"This is… Incredibles!" Aiden shouted with glee that it woke up Hendrick. "With this, I can find all the hidden classes and become the strongest. Although it looks a bit glitchy, it should not matter. Kuhahaha"
