Chapter 34 - Happy Ending

In the deep night of the Empire's capital, Adalheim, not far from the imperial palace stood a grand mansion. Dozens of heavy armored and armed guards patrols the entrance alone, if someone wanted to cause troubles here is the same as to forfeit your life. This mansion belongs to none other than Herman Von Valvford, Edgar's father, the current prime minister.

Inside his study room and sitting next to his desk; he put down a letter that he just finished reading, he looks toward a beautiful woman in her late thirties. "To actually think Edgar actually put off his plan successfully...", it a quite shocking revelation that his son manages to accomplish something like this. As long as he's behaving and not causing any troubles, naturally after some time when the emperor's anger has been quelled, he will bring him out. "This merit is huge! You think we can bring our son back home early?", this beautiful woman is Edgar's mother, Laura, a former maid of Herman.

The letter he read was from Frederick, many more such letters can be seen after Herman opens the drawer and putting the current one in along with the rest. Frederick has been reporting everything to Edgar's parents and had been doing this long before even the current Edgar arrived into this world. Everything unknown to Edgar.

"To think that he changed this much because just because he found a lover and his lover is his maid of all things...", Herman can't help but feels ashamed of being reminded of his younger self. "What's wrong with a maid!? I still remember how you were down on your knees begging father-in-law to allow you to marries me!".

(When did I oppose my son having a maid as his lover? If he wanted, I can allow him to have as many maids to be his wives!)

Obviously, he can't say this in front of his wife.

"Edgar according to Frederick has turned a new leaf and was because of this 'Anna' girl", Laura also remembered Herman being an unruly man until he fell in love with her. ", I want to see what kind of girl is she.". Herman also missed his son, but that son of his actually dared to harass Princess Sophie. Just remembering that incident gave him rage. The Valvfords has served the imperial family for generations. It's a disgrace for such a thing to happen in the family.

"Speaking of which, that Earl Urlan is on Logan's side, this will quiet them down a bit.", he took a deep breath and release it.

"Duke Logan... You two used to be so close. Is he still angry at his majesty? That accident, nobody wishes for that to happens.", Laura went to her husband's side. Herman holds his wife's hands and sighed, "It's too late now.".

To the far west, Edgar just returned to his mansion after finishing interrogating Urlan. Upon entering he was immediately greeted by a woman. Though past her prime, she still looks good. "Thank you for saving me and Eliza, Lord Edgar.", this woman is Eliza's mother. "My name is Gloria.", she politely bows.

"No need to be polite, I promised Eliza that I help you both.", he smiled at her.

"Pardon me, but is the reason why Lord Edgar offered to help Eliza because of her untapped Innate talent for magic?", with a smile still on her face she looks toward Edgar. "I will be lying if I say otherwise", he decided to say the truth. ", I indeed helped her for that reason, I needed her strength in the future for a necessary purpose. As for why, I am afraid I can't tell you.". For now Edgar think it best to keep the stuffs about Roy to close allies. "But reason assure that I won't force her to do anything she dislikes.".

"I will place my trust in you." she said.

"Thank you! As well for you madam, if you like, you can too as well stay here in the mansion with Eliza."

"If that is fine with you, I will gladly accept it.", hearing from her daughter about the characters of this lord, she decided to accept his offer. After being poisoned, the time she lost with her daughter, she wanted to spend more with her Eliza.
