Like someone who received enlightenment, his mind from his past life had returned to him and he could see and hear his thoughts clearly.
Yoshuu looked around like someone seeing for the first time in his life. He saw the many despondent, faded souls, lost in a mindless trance working as slaves in this canyon and quarry.
Hiding from the occasional passing, fiendish guards, Yoshuu found the strength to climb out the quarry and into the hellish world above.
The sky was dark and the environment was filled with brushes of only shades of grey. There was no color and life in this place. Only darkness and despair.
To his left was what looked like an abandoned city. To his right across the canyon was a barren wasteland which stretched on for miles. Directly before him were mountains and some gray clouds and smoke that swirled and touched the sky, illuminated by a pink light.
It was directly in line with the railway tracks and every fibre of his being told him to avoid that location at all cost.
Flying high above him in the sky were unknown shadows of what looked like spectral, nightmarish creatures flying in the distance.
Yoshuu turned to his left and headed towards the dreary city.
Upon arrival at the main road of the city, he could see that the houses and the buildings were very different to the houses that he remembered from his country.
Some were very tall and they were designed differently. There were fallen signs, broken windows, damaged buildings and fallen posts on the ground.
Upon one sign, Yoshuu was able to read out the word named The city of Atlantis. Reading some of Emrica books really paid off, he chuckled to himself.
Parts of the city seemed to be missing as he walked around. Some of the infrastructure were even cut off leaving a vacant place present. It was as if the city was moved here or pulled here from somewhere else or part of the actual city.
While walking around, he saw spirits of individuals fading in and fading out. Did they arrive like he did and also escaped the canyon or were they trapped in this place due to an unseen force or connection to the infrastructure. He didn't let his mind ponder too long on the subject matter.
Looking in one of the windows of a home, he saw himself. His entire appearance was coming back into focus as the darkness began to leave him. His thoughts then began to reminisce of the land of the living and of 'home.'
Yoshuu thought to himself that there must be a way to exit this place. He walked away from the window and continued onwards in what he deemed as an unsightly and really depressing place.
'Japanese culture has never portrayed Hell with fire or any of those things but if he had to ever describe such a place. This is the place that he would tell his friends, he thought to himself.'
As he moved deeper into the city, he began to see more humanlike creatures that were not faded or ghostly however they moved around slowly on all fours. Their nails were sharp and their fingers were long and devilish. He began to take careful measures to avoid such beings as they sniffed the air and looked around as if straining with their eyesight.
In the distance, Yoshuu could see a very tall circular structure, so he made his way towards that destination. It was like a tall, circular designed tower that stood in the center of a plaza. Uncertain of the distance that he had walked, it felt like it could be the center of the city to Yoshuu.
From a high position there, he thought that he would be able to view a large area and find something that would lead him out of this forsaken place.
Walking into the plaza, he made his way to the tower and through the nearest archway of this monumental structure.
