She liked praises

Xia Heru's hand itched to slap both Han Shuya and Yan Shu, if not punch them. The last thing she wanted was to become a shadow again.

When the Campus Beauty contest began, she too sent a photo to participate, even before Han Shuya herself. At that time, there weren't that many entries yet, so she received a large portion of the initial votes. She couldn't hide her happiness on receiving that many votes.

Her friends Li Shanshan, Lin Chao, and Ji Mengran all praised her, saying that she was the only beauty on the campus. And that's why Xia Heru liked to keep them around; because she loved to have her ego massaged like that.

Xia Heru is indeed beautiful, but she's also scheming, evil, and vicious, all of which overshadowed her beauty. So when Han Shuya uploaded her photo, she quickly surpassed Xia Heru's votes.

This left Xia Heru shocked. She couldn't believe that someone surpassed her, and so easily at that. She gritted her teeth with this result and decided to find out more about this competitor.

The Xia was one of the city's rich families, so anything that Xia Heru wanted, she could get it using her family connections. If anyone dared to stand in her way, she would force them into submission, and if she wanted something, she would go to any lengths to achieve it, no matter the consequences to other people.

But this all changed when Han Shuya came into the picture, and that was due to her family. The Han family had even more power and connections than the Xia family, and they were even a major shareholder of Xia Industries.

So if Xia Heru wanted to deal with Han Shuya, then no one could find out about it. She paid a hefty sum to a software developer from her family's company to hack into the competition site and block all votes received by Han Shuya.

The man did exactly as she said, and contacted her late at night to say the job was done. Xia Heru felt a sense of relief. After staying up until late at night waiting for news from the software developer, she then got into her bed and fell asleep, having no doubt that the title would be hers.

But little did she know that an even bigger competitor approached.
