Hardships and Memory Loss

Lily woke up in the middle of the night thinking she heard someone screaming. She got out of her room and peeked inside Daniel's room. She slowly walked towards Daniel and realized he's having nightmare again. She kneeled down and wiped away his tears.

He clutched the blanket hard and was crying in his sleep. Lily watched over him and wiped away sweat on his forehead.

Morning came and Lily slept kneeling down on the bed beside Daniel. She woke up and realized Daniel was already up.

"Good morning, Daniel... I mean President Kim." Daniel looked at her emotionlessly while standing beside her. Lily immediaty stood up and bowed.

"I'll go... I'll go..." Lily ran into her room and locked her door.

Oh crap, he's going to kill me. Why was I even in his room in the first place. I broke the contract... again. I'm so going to get fired today.

She got ready and washed up quickly. Ray and Jeffrey were waiting for her in the lobby.

"Lily, we're here." Lily felt so embarrassed and wanted to escape from Daniel.

"Why is your face red, Lily? Do you have a fever?" Jeffrey felt her face.

Lily nervously laughed, "I'm fine." In reality, she's scared. Scared of Daniel.

They drove to the headquarter and Lily walked behind Daniel after getting off. Thinking about what happened last night made her nervous... what would Daniel think? Lily sighed but she still stood beside him. There's no use of running away.

Every employees who saw Daniel all bowed and greeted him. Daniel walked right pass by them. As expected, he never talks. Lily was totally prepared to get fired today. When Daniel entered his office, Lily stood outside while Ray and Jeffrey went inside. Since she didn't belong there, Lily watched over him outside his office. Ray came out and notified Lily to go in.

"Go in. He's calling for you." Ray patted her.

"Me?"

Dear god or buddha please save me. Lily took a deep breath and entered his office.

Daniel stood up and walked towards her, she looked down because she was afraid. She thought she was a failure as a physician.

Daniel took out a business name tag and gave it to her.

"Wear it." Daniel told her. Lily looked at him confused but when she looked at it, it contained her name and occupation.

"This is mine?" Lily repeated.

"Do you want to return it?" He replied.

"No, no. Thank you. I'm just glad you didn't fire me." She was relieved.

"Why would I?" Daniel sat down on his desk.

"Last night, I went into your room without your permission. Just went into your room because you were having nightmare. I just wiped away your sweat. Nothing else. No physical touch or anything." Lily explained.

Daniel listened and took out her phone.

"Thank you for last night. My nightmare was there for a long time. I don't remember much or what caused me to get shot. I feel pain whenever I tried to think about it." Daniel stood up and handed the phone to her.

"Don't try so hard to remember if it takes a toll on you. Just don't force yourself. Alright?" Lily said.

Daniel nodded.

Ray came in and notified Daniel that Leanna came back and wanted to see him. Daniel asked him to bring her up.

"Brother! I'm back!" Leanna hugged Daniel and kissed him. Lily stood there and watched them bickering at each other. She smiled and was reminded of her younger sister who passed away few years ago.

Leanna stopped bickering and looked at Lily.

"Brother, who is she?" Daniel introduced Lily as his personal physician. Leanna's eyes brightened, "Wow, you're a fully fledged doctor? Awesome! Brother, you have good eyes. Lily, we're going to be best friends. If you like my brother, he's free and single." Leanna stucked out her tongue at Daniel. Daniel looked at her like his eyes could kill someone.

Lily giggled, "I'm only your brother's physician, I'm not allowed to date any of my patients." Leanna frowned, "It would be great to have an older sister. My brother works too hard and ever since that incident, he struggled a lot. I'm relieved that you are his doctor. I can tell you are very caring. Thank you for watching over my brother." Leanna gave Lily a hug before she left the office.

After Daniel had his meetings with other business people, he went back into his office. It was pretty late in the evening. Leanna already went back home with Ray while Jeffrey was off work. There was another bodyguard outside the office. Lily stayed with Daniel until he finished with the reports.

"Here's your green tea." Lily placed the tea on his desk. Suddenly, Daniel's headache got worse. Lily supported him when he vomited in the washroom.

"Let's take a break for tonight. It's too much work for you." Lily gently rubbed his back until he stopped vomiting. Daniel felt weak and leaned against Lily.

Lily called the bodyguards for help and they helped Daniel laid down on the sofa. She thanked them and covered him with a soft blanket. She stayed with him until daylight.

Ray and Jeffrey came in and both of them were shocked. Lily was sleeping on the smaller sofa and Daniel was sleeping on the bigger sofa. Jeffrey poked Lily and she woke up.

"I'm sorry. I fell asleep. How's Daniel?" Lily went over to Daniel and he was still asleep.

"Jeffrey, can you get his medication from the medicine cabinet inside the washroom? He's having fever now." He nodded and quickly brought the medicine kit.

"Ray, can you buy a small bowl of porridge?" Ray nodded and quickly went outside.

"He can't take the medicine unless he eat something. He's been stressed lately." Lily got up and washed up.

Half an hour later, Ray came back with porridge. Jeffrey woke Daniel and helped him up, "President, you need to eat something before taking medication. You have a fever."

Lily cooled the porridge and fed Daniel. After it was half done, Daniel shook his head. Lily took out the pill and hand it to Daniel. She poured water in a glass cup and gave it to him.

Lily told Ray to let Daniel rest for a day. He went out and he cancelled everything that was on the schedule.

"Jeffrey, can we take Daniel back to his apartment? It will be better for him than letting him sleep here." Jeffrey agreed and asked Ray to help her out.

"Thank you guys." Lily was so grateful fo them.

Lily sat on the back seat while Daniel fell asleep on her shoulder. When they arrived, they immediately went into Daniel's bedroom and placed him on his bed.

"Thank you guys, I'll take it from here. You guys can stay here or go anywhere you like

" They looked at each other and both replied, "We'll stay here. You take care of our boss." Lily giggled.

"I will." Lily went back to the President's room and looked around. She saw some newspapers on the ground and flipped it over.

"Daniel Kim's father is a murderer!"

"We want him dead!"

Lily read the article and it was published seven years ago. Lily remembered he was shot seven years ago. Could it be related? Too much of a coincidence. Someone must've planned to murder Daniel. She took the newspapers and put it inside her bag.

But, he already forgot his memory from seven years ago. Past memories will come when it's their time. For now, he can make new memories.
