Nocturne

After one month of being Daniel's private physician, she got used to the pace. She stayed near Daniel whenever he's in a meeting or conference.

Today, they are going to have a important business conference. Many well-known business people will gather together and talk about improving customer services and making more improvement in renovations.

That evening, they will be going to participate in a business party. Lily dressed up professionally with business attire and did her own make up. She finally tied up her hair, it re-energized her. Normally, she leaves it down or being lazy and not tie it up.

Daniel was wearing his usual cool looking business attire. He was handsome from the head to the toe and he was tall. When they arrived, many young women swarmed around him and Lily quickly avoided them by moving away smoothly. She checked on him from time to time while drinking some red wine.

Jeffrey was free so he came and talked to Lily. Ray was also with him. They talked outside the entrance since there were too many people inside.

"Our boss is one popular man. Much more handsome than me." Ray sighed.

"I wish I can attract girls too." Jeffrey said jokingly.

"I'll go check on him. Be right back." Lily waved and went inside.

"Do you think Lily likes our boss?" Ray asked.

"It would be a lie to say she doesn't like him." Jeffrey laughed at his own answer.

"I knew it. Even though she doesn't show it, she definitely has feelings for our boss." Ray was happy.

"But... she already told us she cannot date patients." Jeffrey pats Ray on his shoulder.

"Awww. I wish they can date." Ray pouted and frowned.

Lily went into the room filled with young women and they were still hogging Daniel like they own him. Then, an announcement came on and they asked everyone to go in. Jeffrey and Ray went in and stayed with Daniel. Lily went beside Daniel when the person moved away.

The emcee asked them to find a seat and Lily sat down with the rest of the group. When it started, there were several people taking turn to speak to the audience. When it was over, a man went up to the podium and he introduced himself as Ken from Hongkong HK Group. After the speech, they gave him around of applause. Lily looked at Daniel but he wasn't clapping. She whispered to him to see if he's alright. Daniel closed his eyes since his headache came back. He didn't know why and he suddenly grabbed onto Lily. She looked at Daniel and he was very pale. Lily asked Ray to get Daniel's medicine from his bag and he hand it over to her.

"Here. Take this." Lily gave Daniel the medication but he brushed it away.

"Don't move." He clutched onto Lily's arm until his headache subsides. It was strange, he was perfectly fine few days ago.

"How are you feeling?" Lily felt Daniel's forehead when the party ended. Daniel released his hand and stood up by himself.

"Let's go." Daniel walked away and never replied to her question. Lily sighed and followed. As expected, he hated letting people know his weaknesses.

When they head back to the apartment, Daniel sat down on the sofa. He closed his eyes and talked to no one. Ray and Jeffrey went out to get some fresh air while Lily watched Daniel from time to time as she cleared some of the stuff from the table. As she heads back to her own room, Daniel stopped her and suddenly grabbed her wrist.

"Thank you for today." Lily stood there forgetting what to say.

"I didn't do anything. No need to thank me." Lily replied, "I'm your doctor. It's my responsibility to keep you in check." Lily released his grasp and smiled.

"You should rest now." Lily went back doing her stuff.

"Lily." She looked back.

"Your piano music... can I listen to it again?" Daniel asked.

Lily nodded, "I'll play it for you. Can I use that grand piano over there? Seems like it hasn't been touched for quite a while." Daniel looked at her and she looked back.

"Maybe I shouldn't?" Lily gulped.

"Go ahead." He replied softly.

As Lily warmed up on the piano, she did some simple finger stretching exercises. She hasn't touched a piano for a long time. Lily closed her eyes and remembered her aunt used to play this song to her. Lily took a deep breath and started playing Chopin's Nocturne Op.9 No.2. It may not be perfect but she played it from her heart. It was filled with emotions that were hard describe.

Daniel leaned on the sofa and closed his eyes. Ray and Jeffrey peeked in and sat down to enjoy the show. They looked at Daniel and was speechless. It was the first time he looked so relaxed.

Daniel slept peacefully for the first time of his life after listening to Lily's piano.

Ray and Jeffrey both gave her a thumbs up while quickly went out their way to their rooms. Lily smiled. She looked at Daniel while he fell asleep ans covered him with a blanket. She sat down on the chair next to the sofa and wrote his daily health report while listening to music on her music app.

She fell asleep on the chair after finishing with her report.
