Chapter 21

Around four o'clock Kate decided to walk into the library and get to know the place, Kate went to the man that worked there as the librarian and asked where the history books of the kingdom were. He led her there and left to continue his book he was originally reading before Kate came into the library. Kate went in to find William's little sister there reading a romance book since the romance area must not have been too far away from the history. Kate walked over to Laura slowly hoping not to scare her or startle her from her book, seeing that Laura was very much in her head reading the book. Kate got beside her and looked for the title of the book, Romeo and Juliet. 'Huh why does that not surprise me' Kate chuckled to herself when she decided to speak up and start a conversation with Laura. "Are you liking the book so far?" Laura jumped startled out of her mind, "when did you get there?" Laura was still trying to catch a grip of reality. "Yes, in fact I've read this book multiple times. It's just so mmmmm, you know what I mean!?" Kate already knew this girl was a hopeless romantic. Kate went back and grabbed a history book on the family's that have lived in the castle, and what they were like. Kate grabbed the history book, went and sat next to Laura at the table. Kate opened the book to see a black and white picture of the first family to live there. There was a medium sized woman with long curly hair that went down to her knees with a couple strands pulled into a braided ponytail in the back of her hair. A very tall, very large man stood behind her the dominance was radiating off of him just by how he looked, you wouldn't have to second guess him for being the king because he looked like one. There was three little kids around their feet. One boy and two girls, the little boy with a small cute tux and the two girls with their little gowns. Each of the kids had so much life in their faces to the point I didn't even believe that the man was their father so I asked Laura if it was and she told me that indeed it was that, those people were the sams family, they used their last name instead of the king's first name bc they felt it was disrespectful to refer to the royals as their first name instead of the family name. Soon after the son became the king he changed it to be the first name because him and his wife felt it should be where they are referred to as their own name not to have to be reminded of their last name in case they didn't feel like independent people when they are all referred to as the same name and they have to be reminded that they are, indeed part of that family. Since then it's been where they are referred to as King/Queen…. Their first name and the same with their children. They are to be referred to as Prince/Princess...their first name so they would feel independent. When she finished telling me about the name situation part I went back to read about him and his family. This man was horrible he over charged for his people's taxes then when they would go into debt if they had a child he would take them and use them how he saw fit for the amount the people had in debt, if the family didn't have children then he would have the family slaughtered and burned, infront of all of the villagers to strike fear into them so they instantly did as they were asked without hesitation. He had multiple women in his bed even while married with kids, and he abused his wife when she disrespected him or had a different opinion on how to handle things to the point she ended up killing herself because of how bed it got. His son changed his last name after he became King because of how disgusting he was of his father.

Few hours later, Kate got tired of reading about the history and prying her eyes open when she started to drift off and fall asleep. Kate headed back to the bedroom around 8pm and to her surprise she heard William in the shower. Few minutes later she heard the shower turn off and feet hit the ground and walk around the bathroom. William walked out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his waist, Kate couldn't help but let her mind wonder when seeing his naked chest and abdomen but just as quickly as the thought came they quickly disappeared when she remembered she wouldn't be the first to give in because she wanted to prove a point to him that she was stronger than him, not stronger to the full extent but stronger mentally to be able to deal with him. Kate was now laying on the bed in her nightgown reading a book when she felt the bed dip and William lay down while slipping his arms around her waist and snuggling up to her. William was having a rough day today and all he wanted to do was go to sleep and lay next to his wife and just relax, Kate could sense the fact that he just needed to lay down next to her and just relax, no conversations, no arguments, no sudden surprises, just to be able to lay down and relax. She felt his head move to where it was laying on her stomach and he started lightly snoring, Kate felt at peace for the first time in the new life she had started with him.
