Chapter 8: Sparks

Evelyn and Night continued to walk peacefully back to the dorms. Even though Evelyn was fairly certain this was the first time they had met, she felt extremely relaxed in his presence. Even she did not know why she felt this way, but Evelyn trusted her gut instinct. In addition, she was prepared to call for help should anything happen. After her rebirth, Evelyn made up her mind to learn martial arts. She felt that if she had the ability to protect herself in her past life, perhaps she wouldn't have died so tragically at the hands of her very own sister.

Evenlyn was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't even notice Night was staring at her the entire time. Seeing Evelyn in a daze, the corner of Night's mouth lifted slightly. He watched as her dark eyes shone with determination. His large jacket seemed to swallow her figure, and Night just wanted to reach out and pull her into his embrace. Night didn't know why he felt so strongly about someone; this had never happened before. His frozen heart seemed to melt in Evelyn's presence. The two people continued to walk side by side in silence.

Evelyn continued to think about her plan for getting revenge. First, she had to become stronger -- strong enough to protect herself. In her past life, Evelyn loved reading. She read as many books as she possibly could because she felt that she could never have enough knowledge. Of those many books, Evelyn had read several books on martial arts. Previously, she was unaware of the poison in her body and simply thought that she was unsuitable for practicing martial arts. However, now with her newfound knowledge, she knew that martial arts would actually help strengthen her body and drive out the toxins. Even though it would be difficult, Evelyn was determined to persevere and get her revenge.

Not many people knew this, but Evelyn had a nearly eidetic memory. She quickly paged through all of the martial arts books she had stored in her mind before coming across one that looked like it came from ancient times. Evelyn remembered that she had found this book in a dusty corner of the university's library in her past life. She had been intrigued by it, and while a bit unusual, it was definitely suitable for Evelyn's needs. Evelyn wanted a technique that would strengthen her body while allowing it to remain flexible. This manual contained a technique entitled Flowing Water, which would allow her to do just that. Evelyn began studying the method in ernest while walking.
