The pier ~ 8

CHAPTER 8

I stretched as though I was at home in my own bed and as my brain awoke so did my emotions.

My heart started to pound and my head raced, where am I? This isn't my house!

As I slowed my breaths and rounded up my thoughts I remembered everything that had happened and where I was.

I could hear whistling in the kitchen and I could smell the delicious temptation of bacon and freshly ground coffee. Amelia knew how to cook! When she wasn't looking I snatched a sliver of bacon and savoured it's delectable taste.

" yay... More walking" Amelia sighed to herself sarcastically. She obviously didn't have enough money to afford a car.

Before I was even half awake she unlocked her front door and made for the café. Luckily she didn't notice me opening her front door a few seconds after she closed it. At this point I had accepted the fact I was perhaps 'invisible' but I was still open to any other thoughts that could help to dispose the sadness of being alone forever.

The thoughts of loneliness and death always hung over my shoulders, like a heavy bags over me but I manage to keep myself away from thinking about it.

Amongst all my thoughts something snapped and I suddenly realised where we were, time passes quickly when your thinking. We had arrived at the café.

It was early, about 6:30am, the birds were emerging slowly from their nests and singing their sweet morning song. It was numbingly cold.

Amelia set to work straight away behind the counter however I wanted to explore the seaside a little more, I mean... If I am invisible then nothing is stopping me!

There's no point trying to get home, I've tried already and it fails everytime. I thought, as I walked along the pier.

The pier was a long walkway of worn wood and weathered metal nails. There was an arcade on it too, it had games and small rides inside it. I was quite enjoying the peace and quiet at the end of the pier but the silence was too loud and it left me alone with my thoughts.

My brain became overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions. I needed to go to the arcade.

The moment I stepped foot into the arcade I was blasted with noise and happiness and heat.

I lulled around looking closely at all the prizes in the machines, you could see obviously which ones were scams.

I got a little bored and reached around the back of the money counter. I stole a small bag of 2ps.

With those 2ps I played on a coin dozer.

After about an hour I finally ran out of coins and I had won; a light up caterpillar, a star wars key ring and a Five Nights At Freddies badge.

So I headed back to the café to check on Amelia.
