At the eve of my fifth birthday, I discovered an amazing and terrifying ability—I could move things with my mind.
It was mostly surprising, and that was because I was only five. If I'd been seventeen, I probably would have had a worse reaction.
Of course, as any other five year-old with a twin sibling, I immediately ran to Bella, boasting about my discovery and wanting to know what her own gift was. Unfortunately—reality came crashing down quite quickly.
"Stop lying, Becca... you're weird."
I could still see the judgment in Bella's eyes before she pushed me aside and continued playing with her dollhouse.
Understandably, no five year-old child would take the world seriously, especially if it was something showed by a sibling but it was the first and the last time I ever mentioned it to her.
That day, I learned to keep some things to myself.
That epic confession failure didn't bring me down though.
This gift—telekinesis—was like a dream come true for me. I was always a pretty average kid, lost in my mind and chasing after insects but what the gift brought me was freedom.
It had been more than a decade and I had no qualms about using my gift, be it considered cheating life or not.
At five, the most I could lift was a wooden spoon but these days, I was quite startled of what my gift could accomplish if I'd been someone with a more... twisted mind.
I loved having something as special as an ability and I used it every single day of my life but I was not defined by it.
Could I function without it? Probably. Did I ever want to? Definitely not.
Shaking myself out of my thoughts, I took a quick shower, threw myself on my comfortable bed and fell in a deep slumber.

The first night into a new home wasn't as relaxing as I'd thought.
Although the constant whooshing of the rain across the roof lulled me into a slumber, I still woke up in confusion a few times throughout the night before I realized I was in a new bed.
I slid out of my bed, peeking through the curtains to witness the thick fog that one couldn't help but see. It draped over Forks like a cage—kinky.

"Becca!" Bella burst into my room when I had finished showering and was dressed—leaving only the face to take care of at the vanity.
I was wearing high-waisted, dark blue jeans with a velvety black t-shirt, paired with a red leather jacket and black high-heeled boots.
At the vanity, I was only putting on some bb cream, mascara and some tinted lip gloss.
I lifted a brow as I looked at my twin through the mirror. "Good morning to you too, Bels."
Ignoring my flippant response, Bella threw a brochure on my desk. "Three hundred and fifty-seven, Becca. Forks High School only has three hundred and fifty-seven students!"
"So?" I fluffed my wavy hair. "Relax, Bels, I can practically see the anxiety in your eyes. It's not that bad."
"Not that bad?" At this point, Bella was nearly hyperventilating. "Our last junior class alone had seven hundred students."
"Yeah, because we lived in Phoenix." I reminded her. "You chose this, Bella. You know the people in this town, they take friendly to another level. You have nothing to fear, sister."
Bella plopped down on my bed as I put some books in my bag. "If you say so." She whispered in a low voice.
"You're pathetic." I joked, hitting her with a pillow. "Get up, you're driving."
She chuckled as she leaned forward. "Why am I driving?"
"Because you need the practice." I ignored the finger she waved at me.
"I'm not."
"Are."
"Not."
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up, Bels." I then threw her the car keys. "And drive."

It was still lightly drizzling, not enough to soak us immediately but we rushed towards the car nonetheless.
Walking behind Bella, I slightly lifted my hand, stopping her impending fall before I snickered. "Vertically challenged can be your personality trait, Bels."
"Smarty-pants." She narrowed her eyes at me as we climbed in the car.
I made a mock bow. "I aim to please. Now, let's get this party started!" I fiddled with the radio, putting on a new upbeat song that had just been released.
Bella shook her head, putting the car in reverse as she resigned herself to her fate.

"Thank god." I exclaimed as Bella drove in the school, already tired of the roar of the truck's engine.
It had started with a light hum then idled at top volume, which was a major red flag in cars.
Like most establishments in this town, the school was just off the highway, and didn't really look like the school. It was only because I saw the school sign that I urged Bella to stop as none of us would have guessed the collection of matching houses to be a high school.
It was built with maroon-colored bricks and there were so many trees and shrubs that I couldn't see its size at first. A plus to Forks? No chain-link fences nor metal detectors.
Bella parked in front of the first building which read 'front office'. No one else was around but I preferred to get instructions first before Bella and I circled around in the rain like idiots and completed the stereotype of the new kids who got lost.
"It's cold." Bella muttered as we walked down a little stone path with dark hedges.
"It's not that cold." I shrugged before we stopped in front of the door. "Now, shoulders back and a smile on your face." I ordered.
I opened the door, releasing a relieved smile at the warm interior and brightly lit office. It was small with a little waiting area and plants scattered everywhere but it was kind of cutely designed. The room was cut in half by a counter, which held three desks behind it, one of which was manned by a mature, red-haired woman with glasses who was looking up ever since we entered the office.
"Can I help you?" She asked with a polite smile.
"I'm Rebecca Swan." I told her, seeing the awareness in her eyes. "And this is Isabella Swan."
We were expected. After all, in a small town like this, the daughters of the beloved chief of police coming home at last was surely a topic of gossip.
"Of course." The woman said as she dug through a stack of piled papers on her desk. "I have your schedules right here and maps for the school."
She went through our classes together and surprisingly, Bella and I only shared two classes—biology II and sports. The woman also gave us slips for each teacher to sign, which we had to bring back at the end of the day. She was really nice at the end, wishing us a good stay in Forks.
When we went back to the truck, the other students had started rolling in and I was glad to see that most cars were like ours—old and loved. The nicest car here was a shiny Volvo that stood out amongst the mass. I couldn't wait to see who it belonged to.
"I have English first." I told Bella. "And I have already memorized the map so see you later, sis."
She grabbed the end of my jacket. "Don't let me die."
I winked at her, walking backwards. "Never. You'll be alright, Bella. Just don't walk too fast, or run, or..."
"Ok, ok! Go away!" She exclaimed, laughing.
There, I made her smile. I turned around with a smile of my own and confidently walked towards the third building where most of my classes were. Time to spice up this little town.
