Chapter 5

"Incoming!"

Itami dove for cover as another volley of arrows was released at him and his improvised force of policemen, SWAT Teams and surprisingly, British embassy guards. Obviously, the guard was guarding the British Embassy which was right next to the palace. They had transferred into the Imperial palace after the Embassy staff had evacuated there. The British soldiers were doing a good job of keeping the legionnaires at bay due to their military weapons but their ammunition would run low.

Also, Itami manages to get his hands on some MP5 from the SWAT officers, so he's happy that he got something to fight with. Suddenly, a roar was heard from the skies as a group of dragons began to dive towards the palace from high altitude.

"Dragon! 9 o'clock!"

"Fire at it you useless tossers!" The commander shouted.

Itami and the palace defenders shifted their fire towards the diving monsters. As they did so, missiles slammed into the dragon riders, sending them crashing into the massed ranks of legionnaires and deafening roars filled the skies as a pair of F-15J roared above Tokyo.

"Hell yeah! We got some bloody air support!" One of the British guards shouted.

"Hell yeah!" A SWAT officer added.

The mediaeval soldiers seemed to quickly collapse into confusion as they couldn't tell what was tearing their formations apart so effectively.

The commander of the legion decided to issue some of their faster fighters to flank them.

"Goblins! Attack that Wall!" The commander cried.

Dozens of small goblins broke from behind the formations and proceeded to run for either the opening in the gate the soldiers and riot police were huddled behind or running for the wall of the palace in hopes to scale it.

"Shit! They're trying to scale the wall" Itami muttered. "Left flank! On the Wall! FOCUS ON THE RUNNERS!" Itami cried.

Every defender complied immediately aiming for the goblins, however, the goblins were unusually quick, and their smaller bodies made it more difficult to aim at for soldiers used to practising on human-sized targets.

Out of nowhere a goblin somehow managed to scale the wall and jump at Itami. Without wasting a breath, Itami shot the goblin out of mid-air. "KEEP THAT SHIELD FACING FRONT!" Itami yelled at the police officer who took a second to look behind him at Itami. The officer quickly resumed his original position of defence.

Seeing the largest reinforcement coming from the central line. With low ammunition, Itami ordered the SWAT to ready their shields and prepare to charge. This was a crazy plan but he had a trick up his sleeve.

"Ready the tear gas!" Itami shouted. Immediately after the order has been given out, multiple squads of Riot officer who are armed with grenade launchers waited behind the office with shields. They all angled their guns, ready to fire on call. Itami and some police then equipped themselves with gas mask.

Itami waited patiently with his submachine gun fixed on the medieval army who was ready to deliver a final blow to the defenders. They all get themselves into formations including the Famous tortoise and Phalanx formation.

"With the bless of Flare, we shall be victorious!" The commander shouted, "For the Emperor, for the glory of the empire!" The sound of a horn could be heard for a few distances away. Then the defenders could see the largest wave of attackers coming straight for them.

Itami manages to keep his cool and waited for the right moment. "Steady, steady...." when the imperial soldier was near the double bridge, Itami saw the opportunity and he gave the officer one specifics ordered, "OPEN FIRE!"

"Crew, we are approaching target." Jacob's voice suddenly announced over his teammates' headgear. With clearing all of the streets from the enemy presence, the Sus Bellum managed to intercept emergency reports of multiple Civilians being trapped in a small shopping complex.

Apparently, a police officer and Two off-duty JSDF personal had managed to get a group of civilians inside and locked the front doors as the attacking army advanced through the streets, but the last message that was received was what to be a panicked call from the police, radioing in open frequency to call in SOS. Then there was a woman who screamed and after that, it was static.

2nd Lieutenant Jacob Franklin took up the task of getting everyone to safety. As break off from the contingent to the imperial palace to support the exhausted defenders. It's now up to Jacob and his team to the civilians and bring them to safety.

When the crew reached the location of the SOS, Sus Bellum came to a stop and Jacob and Jacky exited their vehicles. While the IFV formed a perimeter around the intersection to provide fire support just in case anything bad happens. The chance of finding survivors are slim due to what Jacob had judged from the radio transmission earlier but he can't ignore the fact that there'll always be a chance there were still survivors in hiding, they were just too afraid to come out.

Equipped with the Webïrúian Standard issue rifles, the SE-20A2, a modified variety of the HK-416 that chambers Webïrúian 6.8x42mm, this Calibre is enough to punch a hole through the thick skin of a Lizard-men. Jacob and Jacky entered the building that had open entrances. While the remainder of the crew stayed in the vehicles outside. Their weapons pointed into the urban landscape, waiting for any kinds of danger that await them.

Inside the Building it seems to be a supermarket. But now it was in a complete mess, as the floors were now covered in Manga and other items such as food, broken toys and clothing. It was dark and the air was stagnant and the sent of death was pungent. The air conditioning system was off, possibly for the same reason the lights were not working.

"What the hell happened here?" the 2nd Lieutenant muttered as he walked through the store of the dead. Disturbingly, several dead bodies showed signs of extreme violence, including one of a police officer that was now missing his head, he was possibly the one who radio for help by the radio he held in his left hand.

"Fucking hell..." Jacky said out loud with absolute disgust. Both Marines kept search and search until they reached the housing store, like the other store it was all messy but empty. No dead bodies laying around like the other

Suddenly they heard sounds coming from a nearby door that Jacob was about to go into, Jacky would move up with her commander and took out a small mirror from the floor to use. As she intended to use it to peak inside the room but found nobody in due to the darkness. Jacob then puts his palm on the floor and concentrate the mana from his body to scan the entire room.

"We've two people inside that room, probably armed, possibly not," Jacob told his female teammate. Both took a breaching position before hearing a smashing sound from behind the door, both looked at each other with a confused look before Jacob started to could down with his hands.

"3....2.....1....BREACH!" The Webïrúian stormed through the room with their rifles up, they were shocked to see a Japanese man trying to wrestle with a Medieval soldier who had a knife at the Japanese man's throat.

*BANG!* *BANG!*

Two shot from Jacob's rifle struck the soldier's head and back, killing him instantly. The man on the floor took a deep breath as he was saved by the two marines.

He hastily got up, "Thanks for the save guys."

"Don't mention it, I'm 2nd Lieutenant Jacob Franklin. Webïrúian Marines." Then they pointed at Jacky. "This here is Corporal Jacky Hector."

"I'm Sergeant first class Hiroyuki Jiraiya, JSDF 1st division. There's also another person with me but I-" his sentence was cut short as a Medieval soldier was throw through the door of the room. He was filled with blood and bruises and was desperately trying to crawl away to safety before she came in...

"Where do you think you're going?!" A petite woman angrily stomps full force on the Medieval soldier as he tried to crawl away. Jacob and Jacky were stunned by the whole scene.

"Kurbayashi! Where the hell have you been?!" Hiroyuki asked

The petite woman then knocked the soldier out cold before replying, "Just teaching some animals some lessons, Jiraiya." She turned her attention to the two marines.

"Who the hell are they Jiryaiya?"

"We're Webïrúian Marines." Jacob answer the petite woman. "I'm 2nd Lieutenant Jacob Franklin."

"And I'm Corporal Jacky Hector. Who are you, ma'am?"

"I'm Sergeant first class Shino Kurbayshi." She introduces herself.

As time pass by the Anglo-Russian teams kept searching for any civilians but unfortunately, none has been found, The area is completely deserted. Whiles searching, the Russian did lend some spare equipment and rifle for the four British operators with a few magazines.

Dima has been on the radio constantly, informing his superiors of his current situation.

"This is Berkut 0-4 to Head Shark, we have zero contact with any civilians or sources relating to the appearance of the enemy forces. But we came to contact with some British troops

"British troops?"

"Yes sir. They're legit. One of them you know, Tej Thapa sir. The one that..." before Dima could finish the commander interrupted.

"Yes, yes I know." He sighs, "I'm heading there personally, just keep searching."

"Copy that." Dima puts his radio back in his pouch in his tactical vest and walks back to the team. "Anything?!"

Suddenly, they hear someone groaning, stopping their tracks.

"Wait do you hear that?" Tej asked which was quickly confirmed by everyone who nodded.

They went silent for a few seconds until they hear a faint noise coming in their direction. "I can hear those voices behind that bus. Theo, Tom, take point."

The two went behind the backside of the destroyed bus while Tej and Scarlet took the left side. They were then quickly followed by the Russians who did the same thing. Then he pokes his head behind the bus, only to saw some people wearing a red and white T-shirt and blue jeans, who was dead in the ground, he was a male Japanese man who was injured leaning on the now-burning police as the three 'roman' soldiers laughing, unaware of the Anglo-Russian soldiers that are hiding.

"Sergeant, we got to do something," Dima whispered.

"On it," Tej replies. Thapa then quickly turns to his team. " Team. When I say execute, shoot them." Both twins and Scarlet nodded and pointing their rifles at the enemy troops before he counted. "3...2...1...Execute."

The three operators run out of their cover and started to shoot the three unaware soldiers in the head simultaneously then the Russians went down to the corpse to 'double check' if they're still alive. Once the area is clear, they check the injured civilian if he was still alive.

"Are you alright? Don't worry I'm a qualified Medic...." Tej took out a handkerchief and Applied pressure to his wound.

The man then started to cough out blood. This is bad that means his lungs are punctured and need proper medical treatment, But Tej know he's beyond saving by this point. "They... they took her..." he weakly said as his eyes started to water.

"Who took who?" Thapa began to panic when he saw the man's eyes begin to close. "Hey! Mate! Wake up, what are you talking about? Who's 'her'?"

The man coughed blood in his mouth. "It was supposed to be a family trip." he took out his necklace and flip open the Perl which was hanging in the centre to reveal a family photo.

"They killed my wife...." he coughed and looked at the hand which was exposed underneath the bus, "B-But they to-ok my daugh-ter..." the man forcefully ripped out his necklace and gave it to Tej. "S-Save… H-Her…pleasssee." The man slowly shuts his eyes possibly for the last time. Tej hastily check the man's pulse only to feel nothing.

The man is dead.

"Shit...SHIT!"The Nepali Seragent smashes his fist into the concrete ground in frustration.

"We can't save everyone Sergent," Dima said.

Theo turns his head to Tej who asked: "What do we do?"

"What we do? What we'll do is to find and rescue this man's daughter and anyone we find along the way as soon as possible. After that, we will find out where those bastards come from." Tej explained.

Theo crunches his fist in anger, "I swear I'll burn their entire army to the ground, She looks no older than 13."

"Hmm. I think I know where she is." All soldiers present are now staring at Dima.

"Where?!" Tej hastily questioned.

Dima scratched his face as he stared at his phone. "Based on the information I've just received, maybe in the centre of Ginza. It's where we believe that's the origin of the attack."

"Right, we're trusting you on this Dima," Tej said.

As the legionaries march closer towards the Defender's castle, they were fired upon by some white clouds that the defender had fired from them. The commander can't help but chuckle at the defenders' attempt on... Whatever they're trying to do. But unknown to the Legionaries is that the white clouds were tear gas, a chemical weapon that causes severe eye and respiratory pain, skin irritation, and blindness. The Riot officers from the Palace continues to fire more tear gas at the enemy, creating a wall of white clouds. It took a few seconds before chaos erupted on the attacker's side.

"MY EYES! IT BURNS! MAKE IT STOP!" This was almost all of the response from almost all of the legionaries and Auxiliary troops who were exposed to the gas started to continuously cough and heavily tear up some of them started cannot take the pain and started to cry on the floor, none of the legionaries is safe from the effect of the tear gas.

"We're starting to break up their formation," Itami muttered. Knowing it a good time to strike, Itami gatherings the Riots officer and headed down the Palace, charging at the enemy.

The Commander wasn't immune to the effects of the tear gas but was strong enough to resist some of the pain. "Damn, What foul magic does these barbarians possess?!" He shouted. Due to the effect of the tear gas, he could see probably but could barely make what's going on. From the distance, he could make out a large formation of blue men that was armed with a glass shield and black clubs heading toward his army.

As more tear gas was raining down towards the imperial soldiers, Itami and the Riot officers picked up the Pace and when they got close enough, Itami let out a huge sigh before giving his final order.

"BANZAI!" Both Itami and the rest of the officer, who was equipped with the gas mask, charge toward the Attackers.

The commander was shocked to see the men in blue clothing charging at them. He was expecting them to stay and defend but he never expected them to boldly but idiotic charge toward his imperial soldier even when their magic is still active. Are they really that desperate?

As the commander tried to rally his men to take defensive formations but none could do anything due to the intensity of the gas which took a heavy toll on the imperial soldiers. By this point, none of the imperial soldiers or the Auxiliary forces could effectively fight. The pain in their eyes and the unbreathable air makes it impossible to fight.

Itami was the first to score a kill as he unloaded his entire magazine into a humanoid pigman, which was effectively killed. The riot police started to engage in intense Hand to hand combat with the legionary forces. Even though they where only armed with clubs and was outnumbered, the Japanese put out one hell of a fight. Thanks to the gas mask they're wearing to protect themselves from the gas, this battle was, by all means, easy for the Japanese. Soon some of the embassy guards who were watching the battle taking place were eager to fight.

The British soldier was the first to respond, "Alright lads! Who here want to help those poor sods out?!"

"Yes sir!" The rest respond.

"Then get yourself a mask each." The British commander smile as he saw all his men equipped their mask and ordered, "FIX BAYONETS!"

The British took their L3A1 and attached it to their SA80. "SQUAD! EN GUARD!" The British marched with speed and discipline towards the battlefield.
