Chapter 6

Itami, without wasting a breath shot the goblin out of mid-air with his MP5. "KEEP THAT SHIELD FACING FRONT! AND DON'T LET THEM FLANK YOU!" Itami yelled at the police officer who took a second to look behind him at Itami. "THEY DON'T HAVE ANY PROTECTION FROM THE GAS USED THAT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!" He shouted again.

The police and other foreign soldiers intensified their attack on the medieval soldiers. The British troops charge at the enemy with their bayonet with no fear alongside some US and French Embassy guards showing no signs of backing down. The police quickly took down many Imperial soldiers with their clubs but the gas is mostly doing most of the work.

"Morgan! Six o'clock!" Cried the British commander.

The soldier manages to block a sword attack coming from the rear and retaliate with his bayonet. He looks at his commander with relief and shouted, "Thanks, sir!" The commander didn't respond as he was busy fighting a Roman soldier who only to is shot by a SWAT officer.

"Cheers mate." The commander said.

With many of his men and auxiliary troops lost the imperial commander has no choice and shouted, "RETREAT MEN! Their magic is too strong! Retreat!" As the retreat has been called the imperial soldiers then immediately run as fast as to escape the double bridge.

The tear gas slowly starting to clear up, revealing the retreat of the imperial army and its auxiliary soldiers. Itami let out a sigh of relief, the field of the imperial palace was now litter with dead bodies of the mediaeval troops and fantasy monsters. Whiles The majority of the troops ran off, most were killed or captured by the defenders.

Itami rallied the SWAT officers and the foreign soldiers back towards their original position where they last defended. The enemy put up a good amount of Resistance from the engagement but eventually, the tear gas did its job and soften the enemy up, giving the defenders the massive advantage.

Charging at the enemy seems suicidal but if an enemy's ability to fight is somehow worsened neither by moral, weather or by other effects. He just has to take advantage of that, not to mention that charge has that intimidation factor in there that'll keep the enemy at bay for the meantime until any kind of reinforcements could arrive soon. Itami's happy to remember that during his time in Okinawa. He never thought Tej advice could be this useful.

'Man. That was the most commanding I've done since yesterday.' He thought.

Itami then turned his attention towards a police officer who was on a stretcher. His body was litter with cuts and stab wounds from the swords and spears. Even with a successful plan, there will be someone that's going to die. Maybe is another way he could have done to minimise the casualties, but what's done is done and Itami knew for a fact there would be casualties, it not every day you get to fight an army from a fantasy world. He just hoped that reinforcements will come soon. He hastily took off his gas mask before a SWAT Office approached him.

"Lieutenant Itami!" A SWAT called out his name.

"Yeah?"

"We've got news of reinforcements to come from coming from Fuji."

Itami widen his eyes in joy, "When? Who's coming first?

"Armour support from Camp Fuji and Helicopters from Ichigaya."

Gunfire echoes through the streets as an M1A2 Abram tank advance into the enemy positions while firing its coaxial Machine gun at a group of enemy soldiers. The tank was swiftly followed by a platoon of marines that form the rear. The Abrams swiftly rotate its turret on a group of Roman soldiers who were charging at them.

"Jackson, load Canister!" Cried the tank commander.

With rapid success, the loader hastily loads the round. "Gun ready!" He cried.

"Lance! Target the group of hostiles, two o'clock!" The commander ordered his gunner.

"Copy sir, Acquiring target.....FIRING!"

*BOOM*

The canister round expelled upon exiting the 120mm smoothbore gun to send thousands of metal balls of lead that instantaneously wipe out the charging enemy. The round was so devastating that one of the Roman solider's Head was non-existent.

The Tank keeps on spearheading the assault as the marines covering the rear. Among them was the commander of the platoon, First Lieutenant John Folk who had received a radio call from HQ, callsign Overlord.

"Overlord to Echo 2-1, We've got a confirmation of a large reinforcement heading toward the imperial palace 2 kliks from your location. Take them out before they could get there."

"Copy Overlord, 2-1 out"

Lieutenant John Folk and his marine platoon were amongst the lead elements of the American forces routing the invading legionnaires. They were supported by a single USMC M1A2's from Camp Fuji. As the Marines advanced through the streets, they could see the enemy's assembly point and the chaos gripping it. Enemy discipline had collapsed in the face of modern 21st-century firepower. Folk could make out a group of enemy horsemen clad in elegant battle armour bearing a standard being led by a leader with a red plumed ornate helmet.

"Calvary! Twelve o'clock, take them out!" John orders his marines

The marines let out a devastating burst of fire from their M16A4 Assault rifles, mowing down the horse rider like grass.

"Jesus. Just what the fuck is going on here Lieutenant!" One of his marines cried.

"Yeah, I thought Japan was supposed to be filled with cute Neko girls cosplayers in this time of year, not a fucking Roman parade!" Joked the corpsman, Private Joseph García Helens as he chuckled to his own joke.

Folk slowly turned to the private with his stoic eyes. "I'm as confused as you private. Just shut the fuck up until we get out asses to the imperial palace! We have friendlies still holding out there but not for much longer if we keep stalling. So pick up the pace marines! Oorah?!

"Oorah!" The marines replied.

Running as fast as his legs could go; a young Legionnaire helplessly navigates his way through the streets of London. Like a maze this city is huge and on many occasion, he would find himself in the same position as last time. Covered in the blood, bruised, and exhausted, the young soldier kept running and running as fast as he could until he spots a group of mounted riders

.

"Over here!" he cried desperately at the riders, "They after me! They after me!"

The riders were confused as to why a lone soldier would be running from, but what's more worryingly why was he alone? The command of the riders approaches the lone soldier along with the rest of his riders, "What happened boy? Speak to me."

The Soldier dropped to his knees in exhaustion, breathing in his fresh air as he was relived by the riders. "They killed them! The whole Legion, everyone!"

"Who?" The Commander demanded

The young soldier face suddenly when pale as the faces of the people who attacked them and clearly remembers none of them as humans. "T-Th-They're Demons!" He loudly proclaimed.

A sight chuckle started from the commander of the riders before all of the riders busted out laughing at the young soldier's replies, "Demons? Are you sure you were there when you were attacked? Or are you just a coward who just ran from battle?

"No my lord! I assure you that they were..." His sentence was cut short as the commander of the rider's head jolted back and fell off his horse. The blood splattered the young soldier as it did with the rest of his comrade. The other riders were hastily trying to figure out what had to happen, Whiles the second-in-command rush out to the commander and began to check his condition. But unfortunately, the commander was beyond saving, his head was pouring out from his head and on the floor was the remained of the commander's insides.

"They back! The Demons!" the soldier shouted as he cowered behind one of the wrecked cars.

The second-in-command jumped back into his horse with the commander's body stowed on the back of his horse. "Make sure words gets to the general! Don't wait for anything! Tell them that the other worlds had killed the Commander!"

They nodded but before they could spur their horses, the riders faces blew up simultaneously. The horses screamed in fright and ran away while the second-in-command just stared in horror. 'I did not even see what killed them! What is this?! Was that some kind of assassination magic?!'

These were his last thoughts, as his head jolted back and he fell to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut. The look of shock was forever etched in his face which now had a gaping hole, the size of a grape, leaking red coloured blood right between his eyes.

The soldier took a glimpse of the scene only to find the mounted soldiers lay on the floor lifelessly. His heart pounded faster and faster as he lay eyes on the dead. "Why?... Why!? Why must I witness this savagery?!" He dropped to his knees at that moment and started to reflect on his decision to join the Army. All the comrades he made, All the training he did, All the story he heard, and all of the tales of adventures, riches, and fame, All of it was a lie. The only thing he saw was death after death. The sound of footsteps filled the atmosphere as seven humanoids all dressed in strange clothing approached him.

There the young soldier closes his eyes before wishing his family goodby. He shut his eyes close and prayed for the next outcome.

*Bang!*

The Soldier was thrown back by the impact of the round. His vision was getting more and more blurry as the second pass by. It was painful, very painful, he coughs out a pool of blood on that dying minute. 'I'm sorry Father, Mother, Sister. I wouldn't be back home... I'm sorry...'

Squatting down to observe the body, Sergent Scarlet Macmlian looks at her partner- Sergent Tej Thapa- and asked: "Is he dead?"

The Nepali Sergent emotionlessly looked down towards the body and replies, "Depends if the regular unit could push here fast enough.

"We should've taken the other route," Dima said.

"The fight was unavoidable anyway." The Nepali Sergent replies as he laid eyes on a massive cam that surrounded a Giant Greek-like monument. Tej and the rest of the group had finally arrived at the gate, just outside they could see a massive fortified camp that looks to be on high alert.

So you think that guy's daughter is through there?!" Tom questioned.

"Not just his daughter, Civilians as well" One Spetnaz operator, Corporal Boykov, replied, surveying the area with his binoculars.

"Lady and gentlemen. Looks like we hit the jackpot." Tej smiles.

As the modern soldiers snuck towards the enemy camp and entered a building and climb to the fourth floor, overlooking the camp. Dima lends his binocular to Tej so he could do a quick recon around the area, and all he could see is a mess.

He saw tents with stretchers and wounded men waiting around it as well as some Humanoid-like Men, women, and some of them are children staring in horror at the scene unfurling before their eyes inside their cages. They were horrified by the wound that had been inflated on the imperial soldier, some had many holds in their head and somewhere missing limbs.

More men emerged from the tents, some wearing leather aprons and carrying what seemed to be very primitive surgical tools. The wounded men were clearly terrified as some fell to their knees, seemingly to beg for mercy in an unknown language, not wanting to go back out.

"Those assholes are probably the ones that we intercepted earlier," Tej said

"Or possibly the reinforcement from Camp Fuji," Dima replies. "They're probably giving these Cyka hell.

Tej gave back Dima's binocular and looks at the team. "As long none of us doesn't get caught I think this mission would be a piece of cake. Only fire your weapon when it's necessary. I don't think we could fight an entire army. If there's anything that looks important take it."

"Copy that," the rest of the crew said.

Jacob and the rest of the gang followed Sergeant Shino Kurbayashi through the shopping centre in search of civilians who might still be hiding. Suddenly they heard sounds coming from a nearby door that was inside a games shop. Shino took point with Hiroyuki whiles Jacob moved up with Jacky and again he used his mana to scan the room. He found two people inside, two men.

Jacob smash the door open with his powerful kick and entered with Jacky and the Japanese Soldiers to only be filled with rage. From what he is witnessing right now, he could clearly see two individuals dressed in Imperial Roman legion armour engaged in an act with a woman.

A dead woman to be exact, her neck was slit open from a dagger that lay beside the woman's head. The woman could not have been more than 20 years of age.

Without question, the two Webïrúian Marines raises their rifle at the two medieval soldiers. The imperial soldier only looked back at the marines with confusion, thinking it the other troopers and only to be shocked when they realised it the Otherworlder. Quickly, one of the imperial soldiers reaches for his sword, only to be shot dead by Jacky.

Jacob reaches out his arm to handle the medieval soldier by his armour. Jacob looks deep into his eyes, seeing how helpless he felt and shouted with a powerful tone of anger. "Where's the rest of the people?!"

The soldiers said nothing which only rewarded him with a fist to the face by the marine. "Come on! Is it that hard to fucking tell!" He punches the man over and over to the point the soldier's face was filled with bruises, cuts, and blood. The Japanese would watch the Webïrúian do his work as they were surprised by Jacob's change of character.

Another punch was thrown. "Talk!" Shouted the angered marine. And another was thrown. "Come on! TALK!"

At this point, the Imperial soldier was starting to lose Consciousness but knew if he doesn't talk he's going to die. Jacob was about to finish him with another blow before the soldier started talking.

"Nescio! Iam non fore extra portam!" He shouted in Sareden Latin with his late energy before his body blackout due to the pain.

Jacob then let go of the soldier and tossed him down to the floor. Although he didn't know some of the words he said he knows for sure some of the things he said in Latin. His mind would repeat the word the soldier had said until, "FUCK!" Everyone would lock their eyes on the Lieutenant with surprise.

"What wrong Lieutenant?" Jacky asked.

"Apparently these bastards took them to where ever they come from. He said a gate." Jacob took a deep sigh. "Anyway let's keep looking for more Civilians."

Hiroyuki and Shino took a glimpse of the woman body. Not only it was a disturbing sight but it also fuels their anger and now they were more determined to find all of the missing people and get to safety and prevent this same situation.

"First I got removed from training and now this shit happens? This day keeps getting better and better" Shino loudly mumbles before turning her back on the Imperial soldier as he lay unconscious on the floor. With many attempts and some luck, they manage to find a hand full of people in the building before returning to Sus Bellum. But unfortunately, most were neither dead or captured and sent away by the medieval soldiers. It's pointless to keep on looking further.

Hiroyuki took a seat inside the IFV next to the door beside his Japanese partner. "We'll get them Shino." The albino soldier said softly to his petite partner. "They have a lot to answer and we'll find it.

Jacob enters the IFV alongside his Dragonite partner and immediately reach for the radio, "Sus Bellum to HQ, we found two off-duty JSDF personnel, Sergent first-class Hiroyuki Jiraiya and Kuribayashi Shino, they're the only survivors."

"Shit..." the radio went silent for a brief minute, "Copy, Sus Bellum. Report back to Camp Fuji immediately.

"Copy HQ."
