A sweet interlude (4)

19 June, Paul's apartment and Steven's apartment, City K

Steven paused.  Yes, he had broken his arm and was in London when it was diagnosed, but it was not as simple as Paul seemed to think.  He had left London on his other passport to follow up a tip from his other employers in Morocco, and as he was about to leave, he was attacked, resulting not only in the broken arm but a significantly bruised body.  He called in the favour from Paul to take two weeks in London as leave, simply to give most of the bruises time to fade.

Steven repeated the partial truth he had told Paul, "Well stupid me fell, bruising my leg badly and breaking my fall with my arm.  The doctor was worried that flying too early after the injuries could have risked complications…"

Paul laughed and said "Clumsy idiot.  I got that, but you know what my father said…"
