19 August, Miliary Prison, City K

Joan placed the book that she had just finished re-reading on the desk in her cell, before standing up and pacing the cell.  She hated the fact that she was confined to this tiny space.  If she was right, other than the wet area that compromised of a basic toilet, tiny basin, and shower space it was three and a half meters by three meters.

The only times that she was out of this space was for the hour and a half of exercise she was given a day, court, or lawyers visits.  The authorities made the latter more difficult because they were not allowing her and David in the same room with their lawyer.  It was driving her insane.  The guards refused even to speak with her.
