Chapter 18 – Young Miss Scarlet

In one of the carriages that was more of wagon that carried the supplies Ender was currently sitting next to his mother as a white, furred cat man with a goatee was reciting a script. Ender was focused on the script trying to understand what the meaning were to ensure his mother's safety.

The white, furred cat man created a formation over Millie before ending the spell with, "Absolute Cure." From the formation shined brightly before lowering like a liquid onto Millie. The glow slowly melded with Millie before Ender's eyes. Millie who was slightly red slowly started to turn normal.

Heaving a sigh of relief Ender checked on Millie himself. After realizing Millie was better Ender asked a question that he was wonder about, "Uncle, Do all spell need a long incantation?" Back when Demon King Izrath was still alive spell did not need a long incantation.

The white, furred cat man did not looked pleased, "My name is Eion Whitefoot did I not tell you?"

Ender responded, "No you did not tell me Uncle Eion. You ignored me when you came in and healed my mother."

Eion faced look flushed, "Nonsense I must have. Spell have always been long especially for ones with formations. If you read any spell books you would understand."

"Do you have any spell books that I can look through?" Ender asked.

Eion looked displeased, "You are currently just a temporary slave of young miss Scarlet. Why would you have the leisure to read? Your mother is healed so you should go to the young miss."

Ender did not flinch, "The deal was that I would be a slave once my mother awakens."

"You don't trust my skill boy? Your mother will be awake in another ten minutes at most." Eion chastised.

Ender nodded before saying, "Then I will be her slave in ten more minutes. I still have to let my mother know of our situation."

Eion was fed up with Ender and left the carriage to report to young miss Scarlet.

When Eion left Ender frowned and thought to himself," That man named Eion is actually strong to the point that I cannot sense his core. Did that young miss scarlet do this on purpose? All of the men here are strong to the point that I cannot sense their core rank either. Are they trying to scare me?"

Pushing his thoughts away Ender looked at his mother. Talking to himself Ender sat next to Millie while combing her hair, "Mother it is all Ender's fault for not noticing you were also sick. Was if from the shock of bandits, the cold from the weather, or from being pregnant. I don't care. I will find a way to ensure your safety one way or another. Pride means nothing if I can't protect what I want. I will be sure to find father as well. Just wait until I am strong."

Millie eyes quivered before fluttering open. "Ender?... Where are we?" Looking up Millie was confused to see the carriage top.

"Mother it is okay we are safe for now. Let me fill you in on the situations." Ender replied. Ender told Millie of the situation mostly. Ender did leave out the part in which he knocked Millie out and how he used ether to heal her.

"Ender do you know what you have done? You have enslaved yourself," Millie questioned.

Ender shook his head, "I protected you with what I can. If I just need to be enslaved for a while and I can ensure your safety then I will do so."

Millie was speechless of her son's response. "Mother you have to take care of yourself while I am with the young miss. The young miss has promised to keep you safe but you have to not worry as much it would be harmful to the baby. I will be back in the evening to take care of you so please sleep for now. Dad told me to take care of you while he is gone so you have to listen to me for now." Ender quickly added before leaving.

"When did that boy grow so mature? Who am kidding he was always like this?" Millie quietly mumbled to herself before falling to sleep in peace.

Ender exited the supply carriage finding Eion in front of him. "Let's go. The young miss is waiting."

Ender nodded before following Eion to the carriage that the young miss Scarlet was located in. Bowing to the carriage Ender said, "I thank the young miss Scarlet for allowing my mother to be healed."

"Oh so you know my name. Do you know my complete name yet?" The Scarlet sounded displeased.

Ender responded, "No, all I have heard so far is young miss or young miss scarlet."

"Mnn that is good. I wish to see you so enter for now." Scarlet asked Ender.

"As you wish." Not thinking much of the situation ender entered. Once he entered the men outside gave him pitiful eyes.

Whispers also sounded out.

"How long do you think he will last? I say a day."

"That boy will have to last the entire trip don't you know? We still have his mother."

"Even grown men would feel dead after having to deal with the young miss for too long."

Inside the carriage a petite girl was sitting. Next to her was another girl that seemed to be slightly older.

The younger girl did not have the same kind of fierce face like the men outside but an elegant appearance. Her Red hair that matched her was tied tightly in a ponytail revealing her small face looked like a porcelain doll. Two red cat ears that matched her hair were sticking out her head. Ender had to resist want to reach out to touch the ears. A pair of arched eyebrows looked down on at Ender like he was beneath her existence. A set of narrow pink-red eyes met Ender's as he was dizzily looking at Scarlet. Scarlet's smooth skin only complimented Scarlet's beauty even more. Scarlet was wearing a black dress with red ribbons that only highlighted herself. Laying next to her waist from behind Ender a long red tail. The girl looked only to be 8 years old but the look in her eyes made her look fierce in her own way. Her fierce eyes matched her calm smile that was looking at Ender like a new toy had appeared in front of her.

The slightly older girl also more moderately normal compared to the other. She was also a cat beast-man but was dressed in a maid uniform. Her appearance was nearly made so she would not catch attention. Her brown, shoulder-length hair match her cat ears. However a difference would be that her hands were half turned into claws ready to attack Ender if he made any sudden moves.

The young girl smiled while saying, "As you have probably guessed I am the young miss scarlet and this here is my maid, Sarah. As we have agreed upon you will be my temporary slave until we arrive home and I will provide shelter of certain amount to you two. The duration will be for two weeks. You have no right to disagree if not you can imagine some consequences. You may call me what ever you want. Do you understand?" Waving her hand while mentioning all of this.

Ender responded, "I understand Scarlet."

Scarlet scrunched her face while questioning, "We do not know each other that well so why are you calling me that?"

Ender replied, "You said I could call you whatever I want so I decided on Scarlet. Do you not like being called your name?"

"Hmph call me whatever inside this carriage but outside only young miss is allowed. But I suddenly feel thirsty for some fresh water. We passed a spring half an hour ago that looked delicious go bring it back in 15 minutes or less. Get a canteen from one of the men." Scarlet shooed Ender away.

Not daring to quip and waste his time Ender exited the carriage.

"Young miss if you wanted to save the two you could of just made Nion heal the woman." Sarah advised.

"Doing so would have made the soldiers think less of me if I sympathized with humans. I need a reason to help them and having the boy accompany is a great way. Plus unlike those fake people around me that boy does not know who I am." Scarlet responded. The cold, fierce face of Scarlet was gone and a pouting face was currently in front of Sarah. Contrary to her outside appearance the young girl scarlet was more gentle.

"But young miss you said two weeks did you not? That would be crossing into our kingdom and to the palace. Do you really plan to keep the two the entire time?" Sara began to question.

"Well… it has been so long until I have made a friend so I would like to keep him for a while. If we return to our kingdom he won't have anywhere to escape to. Plus with the old people they smile but complain in their hearts but this person's eyes directly you can tell his feeling," Scarlet began twiddling her thumbs while looking up.

Sarah continued, "… and the was willing to do anything to help his mother did not play no part?"

Scarlet denied looking away, "Nonsense. What are you talking about?"

Sarah remarked, "Ah nothing. But did you even ask their name?"

"I, I, I was going to ask when he came back." Scarlet replied in a stammer.

"Now that I think about it the spring you are thinking about is actually closer. More like 5 minutes away. My dear young miss you must be thinking of the river right?" Sarah continued to pester Scarlet.

"Hmph, Sarah don't think I won't be agree with you," Mumbled.

The two young maidens quibbled back and forth for as 15 minutes passed. "Where is that boy?" Sarah now notice that Ender had not appeared yet.

"Could something have happened to him? Should I send some troops to find him?" Scarlet considered.

At this time a knocking could be heard from the door to the carriage. "Young miss your water is here." Ender's voice could be heard from outside.

Opening the door a haggard Ender could be seen. Resentment clearly etched on his face. Beside him was a barrel of water. The men around Ender were looking at him with a tinge admiration.

"Young miss your water you recommended is here please have some." Ender said half exasperated.

Scarlet with her façade still up asked, "Where did you get the barrel of water?"

"The barrel was provided by the men while the water was from the river like spring that was far down the road." Ender explained.

Scarlet scooped up water with her hand to taste and was surprised with the cool, fresh feeling that was tasted from the water. The taste of magical water and the water from nature are have different flavors due to the ether infused giving magical water a bitter taste so the water was from nature.

"How did you bring this barrel? Did you get some men to help you?" Scarlet questioned

Ender denied, "I brought the water by myself. I have always been stronger as a child I take after my father in that nature." Ender off-handedly lied.

Ender was strong but what he did was strengthen the muscles in his body and ran at full speed. Also did get the water from the river but he was not satisfied so he used a decontaminate spell he created from the Demon King's memories years ago. The cooling effect was Ender doing his best to create an icy field on the outside of the barrel. He also attempted to use antigravity on the barrel to lighten the weight. He ran back and dispelled the combination of spells to not catch attention.

What Ender did not realize all the abnormalities he was creating since he was stuck in a small village his entire childhood. Sadly this also increased the slight resentment Ender had for Scarlet.

Scarlet was oblivious and looked at Ender with sparkling eyes before asking, "What is your name and your mother's?"

Ender responded, "My mother's name is Millie Forewillow and I am Ender Maelstrom."
