Prologue - Different

"Estelle! Death eaters!" Damien Terranova's voice shouted with fear.

Estelle his wife quickly grabbed her wand and prepared for a duel. The next second, a dozen death eaters swarmed their place, wands raised menacingly. They were outnumbered 6 to 1. Lights bounced off the walls, as shouts of spells surrounded the hall. From behind a door, if you looked closely enough, you would be able to see two little faces watching the battle. And then, their father fell. Hit with killing curse, he never saw it coming.

"Ditty! Get the children to their grandparents. Before the death eaters get to them as well!" Estelle called to their family house-elf. As soon as that order rang out she dropped to the floor with her husband. No longer moving. An elderly house-elf appeared before the twins. Grabbing hold of them she was about apparate. The little girl turned around at her parents and said one last thing before disappearing.

"Maman, Papa, I love you." a little girl no more than three years old whispered. She had silvery blond hair that seemed to shimmer with the tiniest movement and round blue eyes that seemed as blue as water. And with a loud crack disappeared with her brother, Alex, and the loyal house-elf, Ditty.

---------------------

Their grandparents, Lucia and Dexter Terranova, lived in a manor, near the shores of France. Her house was hidden away by the Filius charm. Apparating in the middle of her living room was her two grandchildren, Celine and Alex.

After Ditty explained everything to their grandparents, Lucia had to take a calming draught. After Lucia fed her grandchildren and put them to bed she went to sleep to calm herself, hoping with all her heart that it was a bad dream.

"Have they still not said a word Ditty?" Dexter asked the house-elf. Ever since the children came, they were particularly quiet and behaving. They were known for trouble and mischief in the family.

"Not yet, sir. Ditty fears that this incident will affect their mindset. May Ditty give her advice to master?" The elderly house-elf squeaked. Dexter in deep thought nodded to this house-elf who had been serving for over two decades. "Perhaps, all young master and miss need is time."

Sighing with resignation, he dismissed the house elf.

-----------------------

Through the next year, Dexter and Lucia do everything in the limits to make the children happy again. Celine and Alex would smile and joke around, but their grandparents knew something, had changed. Alex would act normally, causing mayhem and mischief. But Celine had changed on the outside as well, she would talk less and be quiet, spending all her time in the library or her room with Delora, her new pet raven. Her grandparents were hesitant first, thinking an owl was better, but Celine's mood was somehow better with Delora. Sometimes never allowing the bird out of her sight. She and Delora seemed to understand each other so Lucia and Dexter had no choice but to let the black-bird stay.
