Loud And Unpleasant Cries

Loud and unpleasant cries were heard inside the nursery from Mothlight; the queen was aggressively pushing the black kit and only ginger kit away from her two sickly, horrifying dead kits that wreaked of death from the cold.

Their last breaths now of ice stuck together on their mouths and little pink noses that had suffocated them that night.

Thankfully, black kit and the one ginger were spared.

"What is wrong, Mothlight?" A silvery she-cat asked with the same amount of horror as Mothlight for her friend.

Mothlight eyes were dark with sadness that still had a majority of clouding from the tears she wanted so desperately to shed, instead she lifted her tail to reveal her two frozen kits that were still bundled with each other at her side to show the silvery queen.

Now at complete sadness, the distraught queen nudged one of her kits' sides to tell if her thoughts were true.

Sadly, the kit she nudged didn't move at all for it being frozen to her nest.

Moonsong, an expecting queen, stared sadly at the two kits and sighed for her friend, "Thank Starclan you still have two left.." The silvery queen sighed, "Now is a greater time than any to give your remaining kits names..something to calm you down a little..i'll go get Sootpelt, you wait here." She said, standing up slowly on her paws, something she hasn't done in awhile since Sandpelt and her started expecting.

Once Moonsong was out of the nursery, Mothlight forced herself to look away from her non-breathing kits and made herself focus on her living two.

She licked each of their heads happily to have them with her anyway, "My beauties..what horror this world still has.." She whispered to her kits, "My only wish for both of you is for you to be strong, and to look out for each other..one way, or another." The still heartbroken queen muttered under her breath for the unfairness of her two other kits, and yet, she smiled at her two sons, "Blackkit and Firekit..my pride and joys..I love you both so very much, and I'm sorry that this world has already taken a toll on your day of birth..but one day, this world will be beautiful to you both and it'll all be yours, my little warriors." Feeling more relaxed and proud of her kits for surviving in the cold night, she rested her head on them until Sootpelt walked in with Moonsong.

Sootpelt's eyes locked on the frozen ginger kits, he hung his head in respect to both Mothlight and her kits; yet, Moonsong and him picked the frozen kits by their scruffs in respect to them still being kits, and took them outside to the entrance of the clan to be guarded for the night.

After leaving them safely near the entrance to be guarded with Splashbelly, they returned to Mothlight, who was falling asleep and holding her mewling kits.

Moonsong looked to Sootpelt strangely to see him staring at the black kit unpleasantly; his eyes narrowed rawly as blackkit breathed rhythmically with firekit as if it weren't meant to be, along with his eyes that stuck out towards the kit he had his claws curling in the frozen, icey ground unhappily.

"What's your trouble now, Sootpelt?" Moonsong asked concerningly towards her mate's brother.

Not fully there, but in a trance, Sootpelt answered honestly, "Something is wrong about that black kit..why wasn't he as bright as his mother? He's just..dark." He finished, swaying his tail trying to anticipate the facts.

Now feeling awkward and judging Sootpelt of this strange new behavior, she stared towards the black kit as well, "He's just a black kit that ended up in a bright litter, there is nothing wrong here. It is a gift. Plus, no one knows what the father looked like, after all."

Still not convinced but softening towards his brother's mate, Sootpelt nodded.

"Well then..I'll be in the medic den.." Sootpelt said, his eyes slowly leaving blackkit then to Moonsong, "Although from me and my brother, you really shouldn't be walking around too much, Moonsong..especially on that ice."

Sootpelt eventually headed towards the end of the nursery until he stopped to take one last glance at the tiny blackkit that was being crawled over by his ginger brother.

"Could you do me a favour though, Moonsong?" He meowed, "Watch that blackkit carefully."

The still expecting queen awkwardly nodded to Sootpelt before he padded out of the nursery then back to the log; she watched him enter then disappear into its darkness.

Inside the log, Twistedfoot was organizing the herbs perfectly for his own satisfactory since it was an issue to hi if anything was a mess.

The brown tom's ears flicked up once he heard Sootpelt padding inside the somewhat cramped den, yet he smiled to his mentor, "Hello, Sootpelt, I was just-"

"Did Starclan tell you anything when they gave you your new name and granted you to be my apprentice?" Sootpelt asked, cutting Twistedfoot off completely.

Twistedfoot became uncomfortably quiet, he tried to swallow a gulp but it wouldn't go down from all this pressure, even his fur started to burn from not knowing what to say, "Well.." He tried to start off as plainly as he could to try and calm his nerves, and yet he couldn't seem to.

Sootpelt sat towards the entrance of the log to block off Twistedfoot if he ever felt like escaping from the question, "Well?" He mumbled to mimic his apprentice.

This is it..this is where I lose being a medicine cat apprentice!

I'm sorry, Sootpelt...but I had to.
