Nothing but silence was what went on between them until Sootpelt allowed his eyes to glare at his apprentice, "Odd isn't it? How does a father lose his son." He murmured, his tail flicking at his paws, "The father had to kill him."
Twistedfoot eyes widened, he gasped until Sootpelt covered his mouth with his paw, "Listen to me, Twistedfoot..all you have to do is listen.."
Sootpelt dropped his paw then sighed, "Spiderclaws..isn't actually in hiding at the two-legs land trying to avoid being leader..he's been dead for two moons and i'm fearing the worst about the origins of that kit."
Soft tears went down Twistedfoot's face to remember his old nursery friend Spiderkit, who became the only warrior in their friend group because of Twistedfoot never to amount being one due to his twisted paw; Spiderclaws was someone that he always trusted whenever he wished to be a warrior with an actual purpose, he even thought of him as family, until the sad day when Spiderclaws ran off to be a kittypet.
The medicine cat apprentice ducked his head sadly to realize that his old friend was indeed dead without his knowing for two moons, which meant he never could grieve.
Sootpelt let his apprentice take some time to grieve for all that time, "Yes..he was killed." He said briefly, "With reason though, he didn't die without reason though..he was in a strange form of sickness that not even I know what caused it..it was strange.." Sootpelt continued, "The sickness started after his warrior ceremony. Everything was fine and well because Spiderclaws was well deserved to being a warrior early, he was well loved by everyone, even by you apparently.."
Twistedfoot pulled his head under his paws sadly.
"Spiderclaws was also loved by many she-cats." He put out the main point, "During his warrior time he was actually very vile, he was a murder of many deaths, he's the very reason why I fear that kit. That sickness lead him to kill kittypets, cats from other clans, rogues and once in awhile our own clanmates."
Twistedfoot made himself dead silent as he tried to take all this in, "Blackkit..is his son?"
Sootpelt sighed and shrugged from such a stupid question, "For now..it's just either an omen or a theory surrounding that kit. Plus, you had to know sooner or later; that lie is not going out to the young, it is going to die with this generation once that sickness gets to any of us."
Loose tears still fell from his broken hearted eyes in horror, "What?"
The medicine cat stared at him with their eyes locked, "That sickness still isn't over, it never will be unless that kit dies.."
Uncomfortably, Twistedfoot eyes widened, "You mean.." He snarled, "No, what if he is Spiderclaws son? I lost my best friend and I never even knew he died until tonight..now you're telling me that you plan to murder his son? How could you ever consider doing that to a kit..?"
"Twistedfoot, it has to be done."
Twistedfoot got to his paws, "You'd be hurting me again!"
Once again, except with complete shock this time from Sootpelt to be massively confused at his apprentice, his whiskers twitched awkwardly, "Alright..he will not be killed..but he will be your responsibility..and I want you to remember that for the rest of your days as my apprentice." He hissed, "Honestly Twistedfoot, I thought you knew better."
The slim tom stormed out of the medic log to take a walk off in the darkness.
Now that he was alone, Twistedfoot buried his face in his paws to continue his grieving for Spiderclaws, his only true friend that has never once lied to him unlike his own mentor had for those two moons.
"Don't you worry, Spiderclaws..I will watch over Blackkit just for you, my friend.." Twistedfoot whimpered.
