The Thought Of The Eyes

The thought of the eyes bothered Blackkit still because he felt undeserving of what Firekit looked at him as.

Typically for Blackkit, he moved on from it to focus on the two kits he cared for.

"Firepaw! Icepaw! Flintpaw! Bluepaw! Vinepaw!" The clan and Blackkit cheered, Blackkit beaming with joy for his friends.

Blackkit watched as the new apprentices went over to the other apprentices, totally ignoring Blackkit. Even Firekit, that was now Firepaw chose to ignore him.

Mothlight was even with the other queens and a few other warriors that she was friends with before she had kits.

So, Blackkit felt alone in the snow patch he sat in, while almost everywhere else was welcoming the presence of new-leaf.

The black kit looked around over at the stone path again that he could barely see throughout the entrance of the camp that he could see better of compared from the night before.

Curiously to see more since everyone was distracted, he got up and started walking towards the entrance to get a better view of the rocks in hopes of seeing Shadekit again.

He took very few glances at everyone to see if anyone was looking his way.

Not much to his surprise, no one acknowledged him still.

Out farther near the other side of the rock path, he saw Shadekit emerge from the now growing berry bushes that surrounded the walls of that side of the forest.

There he is! Blackkit thought slightly happy.

Blackkit couldn't help himself when he started to run out of camp towards the rock path where Shadekit spotted him, "It's you again! Be careful crossing, the water is a little more alive this time."

When Blackkit approached closer to the rock path, he began to hop across, anxious to see someone that actually could appreciate he existed. Soon, Blackkit was on the other side beside Shadekit.

"I could hear the new apprentices being made in your clan." Shadekit said, sitting down, "So does that mean you're an apprentice now, Blackpaw?"

"No, I'm still Blackkit..although, tomorrow I will be an apprentice," Explained Blackkit, "It's a small punishment for disappearing that one night, I guess, in some way."

Shadekit sighed, having experienced the same, "So you decide to go run off again from your clan? That'll be an awful long wait until you become an apprentice."

A long inhale came from Blackkit to realize it was true.

Shadekit smiled.

Bored of not what to say, Blackkit looked up at the sky to see nothing but a wide open blue sea with towering trees above him.

It was like a sense of clarity he's hardly ever felt in other ways.

Blackkit felt happy to be with someone he didn't really know because it was a new first impression; until he remembered again the painful eyes Firekit gave him.

Shadekit realized the sense of change in Blackkit's expression, so he pawed his muzzle slightly.

"Shadekit..do you know what Starclan is?" He asked, trying to change the subject.

The darker black kit ears went back slightly confused, "Yes, I have..my whole clan has, of course. Although.." He trailed off, "Most of what I heard around that area is about a dark place where bad cats go.."

Blackkit stared at him in slight unexplained horror from hearing something so irrational to any subject of conversation they were having.

"So..where do they go..?" Blackkit peeped out to say.

Shadekit's eyes darkened and narrowed at him, "The Dark Forest."
