Chapter 11: The Odd Egg

Town of Shianyi, Kingdom of Estanfiel(Neutral Zone)

PvP: Not allowed

PvE: Not allowed

Mana Density: 80%

Shi Fan arrived in a tall renaissance building resembling a church. Cathedral is the place where dead adventurers revived naturally. They are the most common building in all territories across Emperor Online with each town having one, revival zones are literally safe havens of all players.

"It seems I have to rest here for a few days." Shi Fan said to himself after looking up to the sky. Monster raids are common at nighttime. And due to PKers more active at night, Shi Fan chose to stay inside the town to avoid necessary troubles that will possibly impede his future development. Although he was strong not all people are idiots, the moment they felt something overpowered from him they might send a stronger foe to battle Shi Fan. He began walking at the nearest Inn given to him by the System Map.

Inns are the adventurer's Resting spots despite the high cost of such luxuries they still rent a room. If adventurer logs out at the fields or any places where PvP is allowed they will be punished by the system as well as dropping more items than usual. Sometimes however PKers can still kill players resting inside No PvP zones if their killing time to kill a player is fast enough to escape Holy Guards detection time so they opt to do this easily gain money. This is why adventurers chose to stay inside Inns. Renting a room provides them temporary space to rest because it cannot be unlocked by others unless permitted.

Entering the nearest Inn he walked straight to the Innkeeper NPC.

"I like to rent a room for one night" he pushes forward one gold coin.

"Absolutely. This way please." Seeing the gold coin elated the innkeeper's eyes. Their standard rate of room per night is 1 silver coin. Seeing this young master easily giving away a gold coin made him personally escort Shi Fan to his room. Shi Fan gained 30 gold coins from the previous main quest, although there are numerous inns some people think like him, day and night are opposite here and the real world. The room capacity of inns would surely be fully booked so some inns chose not to book some in order to satisfy some rich masters in need of space, this also works in the real world. As long as you have the money you can do anything that is out of the norm.

As Shi Fan flatly lay in his bed preparing to Log Out when a system ping caught his attention.

[System] Item: "Unknown Egg" is behaving mysteriously.

Remembering one of the quest rewards he immediately checked his inventory and pulled out a gray egg like the size of an ostrich egg. Except this one seems very alive as Shi Fan can feel the heartbeat-like pulse in his hands.

"What type of egg is this" Shi Fan asked himself. He cracked his head to remember all eggs seen on the forum but this one doesn't ring a single bell.

"Oh? You managed to get that thing?" Lil Fire from inside his head asked in amazement.

"What is this?" Shi Fan asked curiously.

"That my friend is known as an Emperor Vessel. It contains one of the hidden Mounts in the Continent. But this one seems broken looking at the color of the shell." Lil Fire explained as he outlined the vivid crack mark of the egg. "Gray is at the lowest level and the next levels are each of the colors of the rainbow. While the highest level is the rainbow itself" Quan Shi explained. "However even at the lowest level, the mount itself can be very strong. However, the energy this egg currently had is pretty weak. You need to find compatible energy sources for it to crack and become a Mount,"

"Oh, so that's how it is." Shi Fan happily said. Despite the game already at 3 years in operation and mounts have become very common. Strong mounts are still very rare and only lucky individuals can obtain them. He found it strange though, all mounts are basically alive when seen even those dropped by the boss monsters and there are no records of it being inside an egg. He didn't pried any further as the sun completely set outside.

"Lil Fire, I'm logging out for a while," Shi Fan casually told Quan Shi as he slowly hovered down towards the log out button his consciousness disappeared from the game.
