The Best Birthday Present Pt. 5

This type of dragon had legs, but its arms were actually more wings than anything else. It had three long sharp horns on its neon green scaly head, and its mouth was much wider than the dragons we fought before. The teeth were longer too. Each one was as long and sharp as my Ninja Blade. Acid landed and bellowed its declaration of war, just in case we hadn't heard it the first time.

I fully expected the beast to charge us like the Mini BOSSes did, but this BOSS stayed more faithful to the rules that governed the BOSSes of all the other dungeons in Glory. It remained in the center of the cavern, roaring its challenge and stomping around in a little circle, sometimes on just its hind legs, sometimes using the clawed bits along its wings to mimic a four-legged dragon. Wyverns were so cool and lethal-looking!

Ye Xiu watched the dragon for a moment while he lit another cigarette. This guy sure did smoke a lot! He was like a chimney. It was impressive, though, that he could do that and still see and play so well. Especially at his age! I want to be like him when I grow up... except for the smoking part. Just sitting in the smoking area had already caused my eyes to water and sting. Still, Glory was worth the sacrifice!

"Little Ye, I want you to coordinate with the rest of us. Pay attention to the details," Ye Xiu said, leaving me feeling confused. Wasn't I already doing that?

Without another word, Lord Happy sped towards the wyvern and attacked with a double stab, hitting the beast in precisely the same place as it moved to try and avoid the attack. Ye Xiu then ran in a fourth of a circle around the dragon, causing it to follow and attack, leaving its side exposed to the rest of us.

Ultimate Trash Talk and Unrivaled Pain waited until Ye Xiu had hit the wyvern four times before they rushed forward to attack the beast. I was only half a breath behind them. The dragon was large enough that each of us had plenty of room to fight it without getting in each other's way. It was like the creators were saying, "Here, a present after the difficulty of fighting the Mini BOSSes."

I paid attention to the dragon's movements, though, not taking all the space for granted. It mostly fought in a crouched forward position, with its wings hovering in the air behind it. I was paying particular attention to those wings since they were way more articulate than a northern dragon's wings. Sure enough, those wings whooshed down, trying to sweep us all away. I danced away, narrowly dodging in time. Ultimate Trash Talk blocked, the force of the blow slid him backward, but he kept on his feet. Unrivaled Pain used a chaser to speed up and had no issues moving in time. We all waited until the wings went back to their original positioning before once again converging on the wyvern.

The mechanics of this BOSS were straightforward, it became almost boring doing the same thing over and over again, and I quietly laughed at myself for being so worried about not having a healer. But really, I laughed a little too soon.

The wyvern hit red blood, enraging, and transforming. It's neon green skin darkened to a sickly green-brown color. Drips of moisture gathered and ran down its scales. It violently hissed instead of roared, and a mist blew towards Lord Happy.

Ye Xiu used Shadow Clone Technique to move far away from the enraged beast. Huang Shaotian, Tang Rou, and I all moved to stand near Su Mucheng, but we didn't stand in a cluster, we stood with just enough space between us, that we couldn't get in each other's way.

"Acid lives up to its name," Ultimate Trash Talk said, surprising me with his lack of trash talking.

"Looks like it," Lord Happy replied.

"Do you think all it will do is breathe the toxins at us?" I asked.

Before anyone could reply, the wyvern shook itself as if it were a dog, ridding itself of raindrops, causing the moisture on its back to sling out in all directions.

"Apparently not," Tang Rou said with humor.
