Rhea's affair

Rhea's face was ashen, like a corpse. Her tongue was tied, and she couldn't say anything in her defense. Desmond, standing next to her, was already fidgeting and uncomfortable. She and Desmond had done nothing wrong. They were just talking in the office as they always did.

Samuel seems to have some concerns about Rhea's relationship with Desmond. It appears that Desmond may have some influence over Rhea's career progression, which could have an impact on Samuel's own opportunities for advancement. It's understandable that he might feel skeptical about their close relationship.

Preston, the General Manager, appeared very troubled by the accusation made by Samuel and even physically reacted by shaking his head several times and covering his face. The weight of the accusation is significant and could potentially harm the company's reputation. If this scandal were to become known to shareholders, it could also raise concerns about Preston's own integrity. It is difficult to comprehend how someone as talented and bright as Rhea, a marketing officer, could be involved in an affair with Desmond, a hardworking and responsible marketing manager. According to Samuel, he found the two of them together in a compromising situation in the middle of the day while their colleagues were outside having lunch. This is a deeply concerning situation and requires immediate attention and appropriate action.

Samuel shook his head repeatedly as if to disapprove of Rhea and Desmond's improper behavior during office hours. He was putting on an act to make Preston believe him. The truth was, he was so proud that his plan would be successful this time. Unfortunately, there were no other witnesses to corroborate Rhea and Desmond's claims.

The door was suddenly knocked and opened from the outside. A handsome man in a black suit strode in confidently. He was indifferent, smiled broadly, and extended his hand to shake Preston's.

"Welcome, Mr. Emery. I am sorry to have to bring up a difficult topic," Preston said, his expression filled with empathy. He was troubled about having to inform this man about his wife's unfaithfulness with her boss. "We have received some serious complaints recently, and unfortunately, we do have a witness this time. We need to discuss this matter with you further."

Preston's words stopped when Emery suddenly came close to Desmond, lending a hand to the man and patting his shoulder.

Desmond Turner is an average, good-looking, and approachable man with a friendly demeanor that instantly puts others at ease. He has a tall and athletic build, a testament to his active lifestyle. Desmond's warm, hazel eyes are expressive and reflect his kind-hearted nature. His dark brown hair is kept neatly styled, giving him a polished and put-together appearance. A contagious smile often graces his lips, reflecting his genuine and easygoing personality.

Desmond was confused by Emery's positive behavior. Automatically he stands up to confront the man. Isn't this man mad at him for having an 'alleged affair' with his wife?

"Long time no see, Des. How's your wife, Ginny?" Emery was asking with a jovial tone.

"Err... She's fine... fine...thank you," Desmond said, nodding. He was confused by Emery's cheerful demeanor. This was the first time he had met Rhea's husband, but Emery was acting as if they had known each other for a long time.

Preston and Samuel looked confused as they noticed Emery's calm demeanor. They wondered why Emery didn't show any anger or frustration by punching Desmond in the face. Samuel's intention was to humiliate Rhea in front of her husband and Preston. However, things didn't turn out as he expected.

"It would be lovely if you could come to our house again with Ginny. We could have dinner together and reminisce about old times," said Emery, patting Desmond's shoulder before grabbing Rhea's arm. "Preston, I want to clarify any misunderstandings you may have heard about Rhea and Desmond. Desmond is a family acquaintance."

Emery greeted everyone and then took Rhea out of Preston's office. Desmond was also relieved when he left shortly after. Preston frowned and looked at Samuel, seeking an explanation. Samuel felt uncomfortable as he stood up, knowing he was in trouble for falsely accusing Rhea and Desmond.

Emery remained silent during the car ride, his expression serious. Rhea felt anxious, especially after the unexpected events that had taken place in Preston's room. She had anticipated Emery being angry and furious, but instead, something strange and miraculous had occurred. Rhea couldn't help but wonder how Emery knew Desmond and his wife Ginny and when exactly they had become acquainted with their family. She couldn't help but ponder what Emery's plans were.

Rhea struggled to speak, stuttering out, "Emery...I..."

Emery's response was cold and dismissive, "Save it. I don't want to hear anything!"

Rhea was taken aback by Emery's reaction. She had been planning to apologize for what had happened, but now she wasn't sure if she even wanted to try. She turned and walked away, feeling hurt and confused.

Emery watched Rhea go, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew he had been harsh, but he couldn't help it. He was still angry about what had happened, and he didn't want to hear Rhea's excuses.

For the next few days, Emery refused to speak to anyone. He stayed in his room, sulking and feeling sorry for himself. Rhea tried to talk to him, but he wouldn't listen. Finally, she gave up and left him alone.

Emery knew he was being childish, but he couldn't help it. He was hurt and angry, and he needed time to process what had happened. Eventually, he would come around and talk to Rhea. But for now, he just needed some time to himself.
