When Rhea came to her senses, Desmond told her to go to the clinic. The doctor who came to see her while she fainted had wanted to do some tests, but Rhea had refused. Desmond told her that she needed to go to the clinic and get checked out, even if she didn't feel like it. He said that it was important to make sure that everything was okay. Finally, Rhea reluctantly agreed to go to the clinic.
"I have a hunch you're expecting, Rhea," Sally jokes, nudging her on the couch.
Sally had always wanted to be a mother, but she was not prepared for the challenges of pregnancy. She suffered from morning sickness, mood swings, cravings, and fatigue. She felt like a stranger in her own body, as it changed and grew to accommodate the baby. She was scared and excited at the same time, wondering what kind of parent she would be. She also felt a deep connection with the life inside her and loved feeling the baby's kicks and movements. She counted the days until she could hold her child in her arms. Sally freely shared all of her thoughts with the worried Rhea.
A flush of crimson spread across Rhea's cheeks. She wished she could erase those thoughts from her mind. But then she remembered. Maybe it was possible. She had never taken any precautions. Neither had Emery. They hardly ever made love. But what if that one time was enough? What if she was carrying his child?
She felt a cold horror suddenly. Then she was scared. If Emery doesn't want the baby, what should she do? She can't raise a baby on her own. But he can't just ignore it, as the baby also is his. Maybe the baby is the answer to all their problems. Maybe it will bring them closer together. Or maybe it will tear them apart. She doesn't know what to do. She feels scared and alone.
Accompanied by Sally, Rhea anxiously enters the clinic situated adjacent to their office. A gripping sensation of anxiety prickles her chest, as she apprehensively steps inside. Unexpectedly, a lady who had just emerged from the clinic warmly greets her.
"It's Rhea Harris, right?"
"Oh, hi Harriet." Rhea can still remember that woman who was the chattiest at their table during the reunion. She was a tall, slender woman with short brown hair and green eyes. She wore a red dress and black heels, and she had a big smile on her face. She seemed to know everyone at the table, and she was constantly talking and laughing. She told stories about her job, her family, and her travels. She was very outgoing and friendly, and Rhea enjoyed talking to her.
"Are you feeling unwell? Your face is pale and drawn," Harriet inquired with concern.
"Kinda feeling under the weather today." Rhea's lips formed a thin smile. She is not too eager to share her conditions. "Are you doing a medical check-up?" Rhea saw Harriet holding a large envelope stamped with the clinic's logo.
"I'm going for a blood test soon as I'm getting married. The results show that all tests are negative. I was worried that my blood might not be compatible with my fiancée, like what happened to Emery and Jane the last time."
Rhea was flabbergasted. "What did you just say about Emery and Jane?" She wanted to make sure that she was not imagining things.
Harriet exclaimed, "Oh crap!" and then quickly clamped her mouth shut. "I'm so sorry, Rhea. I wasn't supposed to say anything about that." Harriet's face was ashen, as was Rhea's.
"Would you mind repeating what you mentioned earlier?" Rhea requested, her heart racing with anticipation.
Harriet apologized to Rhea, grasping her hand. "I deeply regret telling you that. It was wrong of me to share such confidential information. I found out about it years ago when I overheard them talking while they were still together. They have no idea that I know. By chance, I happened to be at the clinic when they received the results of the blood test..."
Upon the conclusion of Harriet's account, Rhea was overwhelmed with emotion to the point of nearly losing consciousness once more. The realization of what she had just learned was simply too much to bear. It became clear to her why Emery and Jane's relationship had failed. In a state of shock, Rhea reached out to Erza, her hands shaking with nervousness while calling her number. She required someone to confide in, someone other than Emery.
