Chapter 6

Both Ye Xiu and Ye Xue stared unblinkingly at each other for a few moments. At last, Ye Xiu opened his mouth. "Maybe your commander can talk to the committee? If you urgently needed a pro gamer on your team." He advised.

He doesn't have the authority to speak for the committee, and he is not a part of Ye Xue's team to fully know the whole story. He knew that she is part of the military force, but he isn't clear on her rank or position in the military. But he knew that she still has superiors.

Ye Xue just gave him a nod. She wore back her mask and cap as well as her glasses. She stared at Ye Xiu for a while.

"Don't worry. It's not dangerous. We'll only be playing a game, we might end up playing that Glory you love so much." She said, changing her voice back to the deep low pitch she previously uses.

Seeing her wearing her disguise back, Ye Xiu felt his heart back to the uneasy state it previously is. "You'll go back now?" He asked. Outwardly he looked nonchalant, inwardly his heart is twisted.

"Yup." She nodded again.

Ye Xiu's mouth set to a grim line. "Can't you retire?" he muttered.

Both of them stare at each other silently until Ye Xue puts her hand on his shoulder. She pats it a few times knowingly. "One of us needs to continue the legacy."

Ye Xiu felt guilty when he heard that. But there is nothing he can do.

"Be careful. Stay in contact. If your side gets permission to borrow the team, give me a call. I'll help with your plans." he told her.

Ye Xue nodded. A split second later, she put her arm on his shoulder. "Let me treat you to a meal first. I bet you've been hungry." Without waiting for his consent, she dragged him away.

Ye Xiu just let her dragged him. He indeed is quite hungry at the moment.

It's 3 PM when Ye Xiu came back to the national training camp. The international tournament is being held every three years, but the committee feels the need to hold a training period in summer every year for the said tournament. Two years ago, Ye Xiu's team failed to earn the championship. South Korea's team snatched the championship at the last minute, and China can only be happy as a runner up.

Thus the annual summer camp training was created.

The members that join the training are chosen based on their abilities and capabilities that they show each season. The only exception is, of course, Ye Xiu. As Ye Xiu has already retired from the pro circle, he is now an exclusively contracted leader of the international team.

As such, Ye Xiu has the responsibility to bring success to the national team. He was been given authority and right to choose the team members, set up a training regime, elected team captain, and any other aspect that needs to be taken care of.

So in other words, Ye Xiu can do anything as long as it's concerning the team's success. If the team is a company, then Ye Xiu is the CEO, while the committee is the Chairman. But even with that much authority, Ye Xiu is still answering the committee, and as such, if the committee feels the need to step in, he would have no choice but to listen to them.
