"Okay, thanks for your help." Freya said into the phone and hung up. She was on the phone with Seth and he had given her information on Percy's stalker after the police interrogated and investigated him.
She turned to Gwen who was sitting beside her to tell her all that he revealed to her. They were at Luke's mansion, hanging out and watching movies after work to relax from all the work they have been doing lately. Luke was still at work and she wanted to spend some time with Gwen, so she invited her over.
"What did he say?"
"Percy's stalker is not her murderer, he was her neighbor and wanted to get close to her. Some of the people in Percy's street said that they saw him at a party on the night she was murdered."
"Then why was he attacking us?" Gwen asked with her lips drawn in a thin line.
"He said that he knew Percy was dead and wanted to see if anyone had seen their messages, that's why he texted her phone and after we went into her house and he saw that we were women, he wanted to have some 'fun' with us." She replied rolling her eyes at the man's attitude.
"What a douche. He deserved being arrested."
"Yeah, but he was arrested for assault only because who he was stalking is already dead."
The door opened at that moment and Luke walked in dressed in his suit carrying a brief case. Freya stood up from the couch and approached him, he didn't seem to notice her since the door was a little far from the living room, but they could see him from the living room through the open doorway.
"Hey." She started when she reached him as he was removing his shoes after dropping the suitcase on the floor. He looked up to see her smiling at him and he smiled back, raising up.
"Hey, baby. How was your day?" He asked as he stepped closer to her and placed his hands on her waist.
"It was fine, how was yours? You keep working late these days." She put her hands around his neck lacing her fingers together behind it, his smile broadened as he stared into her eyes and she stared back into his dark brown eyes.
"Still here!" Gwen exclaimed standing up from the couch with her hand bag. "I will be going back home now and you can finish this heated session after I'm gone "
"You're going already?" Freya asked as Gwen reached the door.
"Bye Gwen." Luke said not taking his eyes off of her. Gwen waved at them and left, Freya can see her entering her car which was just brought back from the garage the day before and driving off.
"So where were we?" He asked drawing her even closer to his body.
"You were going to tell me what's keeping you at work?"
"I have been working more recently, you know my dad wants to resign soon, so I'm doing most of his company's work and Stark company's work too."
"I suspected that, but you need to rest. It's already 9pm and I don't even get time to see you. You're the CEO, you can give yourself a day off to rest, a day that we can spend together, just the two of us."
"Are you saying you miss me?" He grinned teasingly and removed one of his hands from her waist bringing it up to her hair brushing his hand through it. She closed her eyes for a moment enjoying the feeling.
"I miss you too, and I can't wait for Dr. David and Clara to be caught so that you can be my wife." She opened her eyes and her eyes fell on his lips.
"Then promise me you'll take a day off and we'll spend time together on that day?"
"Are you asking me on a date, baby?" He removed his hand from her hair and slid it down to her cheek caressing it.
"Yes, I can ask my fiance out whenever I want."
"Yes, you can."
"But I still want to take things slowly." His gaze fell on her lips when she said that and he cleared his throat stepping back.
"I know, and we will." He took her hand in his and lead her to the dining room.
"The maids left the food here like they usually do, I took mine and placed yours in the fridge when it seemed like you'll be coming back late." He nodded as he sat down on one of the chairs around the table and she went inside the kitchen to warm up his food.
She took out the rhubarb pie and potato frittatas from the fridge and placed it in the microwave to warm up. She went back to the dining room to see Luke with his phone out and his tie loosened from his neck, but still hanging there.
She sat down on the chair beside him and he looked up taking her hand in his again turning her fingers in his hand studying them. "Rose invited us to her wedding which will be next weekend."
She was surprised that Rose had a spouse. She didn't even know, but it was fair because she didn't interfere with her or Nina either since they were Percy's closest friends. "She's getting married? I didn't even know she had a boyfriend. What about Percy's funeral, it's tomorrow, are we going?"
"Do you want to?"
"We should, she still hung out with us even though we weren't friends."
"Alright, we'll go then." They both looked towards the kitchen's door when the microwave beeped signaling that it has finished warming up the food.
She went back into the kitchen, brought out two plates and cutleries from one of the cupboards there and removed the food from the microwave. She placed it on the plate and went back to the dining room. Luke watched her as she placed the plates of potato frittatas and rhubarb pie in front of him and sat back beside him.
"Look at you, acting like my wife already." He teased her with a smile and picked up a fork.
She giggled as he started eating, her phone rang at that time. She picked it up from the dining table where she had left it when she ate her dinner with Gwen.
"Hello?"
"Hello, this is Freya Jacob, right?" A woman's voice came through her phone.
"Yes, this is she, who is this?" She asked feeling confused that an unknown number would call her at that time.
"This is Zoe Nicholas, Nick's wife."
"Hi, how can I help you?"
Zoe exhaled loudly, "Was Nick having an affair with Percy?"
She stayed silent, not knowing what to say. It was surprising to hear that Zoe found out that her husband was cheating on her.
"I saw some pictures on his phone when he was looking through them, but he didn't know I was behind him. He was holding her in those pictures."
"You already figured it out. I'm sorry for not telling you, but I was afraid that you won't believe me." She said and Luke raised one eyebrow at her while eating his food. He wanted to know who she was talking to. She nodded her head letting him know that she would tell him after she finished the call.
"It's fine, I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself. I never thought that he would betray me like this."
"I'm sorry for your loss." Luke said to Percy's grandmother, Lila Park and her sister, Daisy.
"We hope she rests in peace." Freya added as she stood beside Luke with her arm looped around his. They were at the funeral inside Lila Park's house.
"Thank you, we appreciate your concern even though you are her ex, Luke." Lila said looking at Luke before she shifted her attention to Freya, "You were the lawyer that brought
justice to my son even though it was his wife that..."
Lila didn't continue, but instead glanced at Daisy, her look explained everything. She didn't want to talk about it in front of her grand daughter.
She nodded her head in understanding and walked away with Luke to meet with Gwen, James, Lin, Chen, Nina, Rose and Finn. "I never thought about the day that I will stop seeing her alive."
It was Finn that spoke as they all stood against the living room's wall. "Neither did I, but here we are."
Rose said making Nina look at her with a sarcastic look saying bitterly, "Yet you're having a wedding this weekend."
"Nina, don't." Gwen said while Rose looked shocked her reaction, but Nina turned on her. "Don't what? She doesn't even care that one of her closest friends just died, instead she's going off to marry a man she's just met."
"That's enough, Nina. I think Rose got your point now." Lin said and Chen pulled her closer to him with the hand he was holding her.
Nina glared at them all and walked away from them going outside of the house.
