Witnesses and Drug Addicts

"You pretty ladies just keep still and I'll take good care of you." The man spat as he held onto Freya's hands. With his attention on Freya, Gwen grabbed a side table and smashed it on his back.

He loosened his hold on Freya and dropped down on his knees. Freya pulled her hands free and kicked him in the head, he fell down on the floor. Gwen smashed the table on his head knocking him unconscious.

She panted looking up at Gwen, "Let's tie him up and call the police."

"I agree."

She found a scarf on one of the couches in the living room and started tying the man's hands as Gwen called the police.

Freya was standing in front of Rick Sloan's front door with Gwen, he was one of the men that live close to the beach with their families. Gwen knocked on the door since it didn't have a door bell and the door opened after some minutes.

A man with a shaved head stood before them, "Hello, can I help you?"

"Yes, I'm Freya Jacob and this is my partner, Gwen Walters. We're lawyers, and we're defending Finn who was wrongly accused. We need to find out some things from you if you don't mind."

"I'm Rick and I know Finn, he comes to this beach all the time." He said with a gruff voice, "Come in, and you can ask me what you need to know."

He moved aside, and they entered the house. It was old fashioned even the wooden floor looked worn. He lead them to a dinner table and chairs around it, he pulled out a chair at the head and sat down, they followed along sitting beside him and opposite each other.

"We want to know if you or anyone in your family saw Finn on the beach on Tuesday night between 8:00 to 9:00?" Gwen asked holding her hands on the table.

"I didn't see him during that time or day." He answered scratching his hairless chin. "But let me call my wife and two kids to see if they saw him."

He stood up and went through a door opposite them. After a few minutes he came back with a pregnant woman with short brown hair and an apron over her clothes, a boy that looked to be in his preteen and a girl in her early teenage years.

They all sat on the chairs around the table, the girl sitting next to Freya, the boy opposite her and the wife at the other end of the table. "Welcome to our home. I'm Tia and this is Billy and Ashley."

"Thank you, I'm Freya and this is Gwen. We want to know if any of you saw Finn on Tuesday night around 8:00 and 9:00?" She asked with a smile lacing her fingers together on her lap.

They all seemed to think for a moment then Billy shook his head and Tia said, "No, I haven't seen him for a while."

But Ashley said, "I saw him there sitting on the beach when I was out sitting on the partio."

"That's great, can you stand as a witness for him?"

"That depends, what was he accused of?" Rick said looking unsure.

"He was accused of murder on that night, and we need your help to prove that he's not guilty and that the murderer is still out there." She answered trying to reason with them and they finally became convinced.

"Ashley, you can stand as a witness for Finn."

"Yes, daddy."

"Thank you for agreeing, we would like to have your number so that we can let you know when Ashley's expected at court." Gwen said bringing out her phone.

Tia gave her their home phone number and hers in case they couldn't reach them through there. Gwen added them on her phone then placed it back in her hand bag.

Freya stood up together with Gwen, "We'll call you when it's time, thank you for your help."

"You're welcome, dears." Tia said as Rick nodded and the children bid them goodbye.

She and Gwen walked out of the house and made their way to the house next to Rick's, Miller Crocker's house.

Freya knocked on the door as they stood in front of it, no one answered it and after a few minutes, she knocked again. The door finally opened to reveal a boy in his teenage years.

"Hi, where are your parents?" Gwen asked the boy as he looked at them confused.

"My dad's out, but my mom's in the garden. Why do you want to see them, and why are you wearing suits?"

"We're lawyers, and we need your help. Can you please call your mom?"

He nodded, "Sure, I'll be right back."

He turned around leaving the door open and went off to the opposite direction, opened the door there and went through it.

After a few minutes, he came back out and walked over with a woman that was holding rubber gloves in her hands which were stained with dirt. "Hello, I'm Kristy. What can I help you with?"

"I'm Freya Jacob and this is Gwen Walters, we're Finn's lawyers and we want to ask you a question regarding him." She said as she shifted on the porch uncomfortably. That was when Kristy seemed to notice that they were standing outside.

Kristy's eyes widened, "Oh, where are my manners? Please come in."

They entered the house and she lead them over to the couch. After that, she went over to a basket near the door to the garden, removed her rubber hand gloves and dropped them there.

She came back to sit on the recliner while her son sat on the other couch. "What do you want to know about Finn?"

"He has been wrongly accused of murdering his ex girlfriend, Percy Nathan and we need two witnesses to clear his name so that the real murderer can be found." Gwen said and Kristy looked shocked as well as her son who was watching a reality show on TV, but was also paying attention to them.

"We already found a witness from Mr. Sloan's house, but since we need two, we want to know if any of you saw Finn on the night of Tuesday around 8:00 and 9:00." Freya continued Gwen's sentence and the shock from Kristy and her son's faces seemed to wear off.

"Around eight on Tuesday night, you say?" Kristy asked thinking hard and trying to remember, Freya nodded.

"I saw him that night, I remember going out to look for my lost earring on the beach, but I didn't approach him because he looked quite sad, so I thought he wanted to be alone." Kristy said nodding her head.

"That's what we need, can you stand as a witness for Finn?" Gwen asked and Kristy replied immediately.

"Yes, it's no problem. I would like to help him."

"Alright, we need your phone number so that we can call you and let you know when you should appear in court." Gwen brought out her phone from her bag.

"That's fine." She told Gwen her phone number and Gwen added it to her contacts.

"We'll be going now, thank you for your help." Freya said as Gwen placed her phone back in her hand bag standing up.

Freya stood up too as well as Kristy, "It's no problem, until we meet at court."

Freya and Gwen made their way out of the house and closed it behind them. As they walked out of the house, they spotted Ted standing a few feet from them near the houses where they had left him.

"Ma'am, I suggest that you let me follow wherever you are going like Mr. Walters ordered me to, I don't want to get in trouble." Ted said to Freya as he followed them to the car.

"Fine, Ted. You can now follow me wherever I go. I don't want you to get in trouble with Luke and I want him to be at ease too knowing that I'm with you. I just don't like being followed around like a kid."

"I understand, ma'am."

"You're not being treated like a kid, Freya. Luke is just looking out for you, I never thought I would see the day he would be so head over heels for a girl. You got him so whipped!" Gwen swooned and Freya laughed.

"I think I'm the one that's whipped here."

"Fine, you're both whipped. Anyway, we need to call Finn to let him know the good news." Gwen brought out her phone and dialled his number putting it on speaker, he picked up on the fourth ring.

"Hello?" His tired voice came through.

"Hey, we have good news."

"What's the good news?"

"We just got two witnesses from Mr. Sloan and Mr. Crocker's house."

"Wow, that's really great. You guys are good." He sounded impressed and Gwen grinned despite ndisliking him for being a jerk to Luke.

"Hey, Finn, do you know a lot about Percy?" Freya asked him over the phone.

"Yeah, I guess. We spend a lot of time together."

"A doctor caught her stealing some drugs from the pharmacy at a hospital and she said that she was with someone in a car, do you know anyone that might be doing drugs with her?"

"Actually, I was the one with her in the car. We usually get a fix from some guys, but we couldn't reach them and we needed them badly, so we decided to steal them from the hospital." His ashamed voice confessed.

She didn't see that coming because they both may be mean, but they never looked like drug addicts.
