Earth dragons territory are usually mountains which is why they are usually fighting with dwarves for the mountains they create or enrichen them with iron, copper, orichalcum , mythril... but some dragons have made pacts with the dwarves where they enrichen the mountain while the dwarves give it favors or something similar, adult dragons are not the only creatures that can influence their territory as such but other high ranking creatures can do as well. However there are not many creatures who are a high ranking species such as dragons. Of course there are always anomalies. A powerful individual could emerge from some lower ranked race and succeed in changing his territory towards his element. NOTE: You can be challenged by a creature for your [Territory] so it is advisable for your [Territory] to be connected. That way your challenger doesnt take a part of your [Territory] that isnt connnected while you are at your larger [Territory]]
