Ultimatum

As the two of us were escorted out of the building I took note of how the staff that were in the building were all rushing about and seemed to be understaffed. I turned towards Jennie and asked her a question, "You were expecting something longer or more dramatic weren't you?"

She stood just a little straighter. "Yes I was actually. Not quite sure why. Leave it to you to pick up on small details like that."

"It was obvious you asked to come along when it was completely unnecessary. Also you remained silent through the whole thing. It was rather short though. I guess he just didn't have the time to have us go through a proper meeting today." I couldn't put my finger on it yet but there was still something off about this girl. She was overly perky and into drama which in my experience meant that there was something she was hiding. Whatever it was the only way I was going to find out would be to observe and survey her.

"Well, it can't be helped. He must have it all figured out. Besides he keeps assuring the Director that he'll have enough people by the time the semester starts in earnest."

"I certainly hope so. Well I need to get started on recruitment. This might be a difficult task. How many students visit the council office building. I noticed it had an information board in the lobby?" We had loaded back onto the limousine at this point and were making our way back to the council building.

"That it does but that is mostly for members of the council and various clubs, committees and sports teams. Their offices are there as well and it's a good way for them to find the most important information. I think you should start with the online site. Much more students will use that. You'll just need to create a page for the committee. Talk to the computer club they'll help you out with that."

"I will thank you for that suggestion, Jennie." I had already had a few ideas on people to start with for the process but I need to put it out there that I'm looking for members. "I'll do just that."

The head of the computer club was gracious enough and helped me set up the Disciplinary committee page and even had the recruitment notice posted to the main page of the academy collective site. The post had the information for my new work phone as well as an email so that potential recruits could contact or be contacted without me being interrupted during my free time. After having done that I started to make my way back to the dorms.

A few blocks from my dorm building I noticed I was being tailed. Pretending not to notice I made my way in a different direction readjusting my route home. After a few more minutes of this and making some quick turns using some kinetic energy to help for parkour I eventually lost the pursuer. My relief was short lived as a shadow emerged from an alley just two blocks from home.

I found myself face to face with Frank again with one of his behind him. Something seemed off and when I glanced around I noticed I that, even though I had arrived in a heavy pedestrian traffic area, there were many eyes directly on me. No less than thirty individuals were watching and the vibe they gave off was not one to be trifled with. It was still clear that the most dangerous one in this group was Frank but that didn't mean that the others were weak. Far from it. At the very least they were low level Alphas. The odds were not in my favor.

"I told you I wouldn't forget. However it seems you're more important than you let on. I know who you are and what you are. A little birdie told me that a world class hitman was just transferred to this school. Turns out it was you. Hahahahahahahaha. Can you believe my suprise. Well I'm just here to talk for now I've been told to wait."

I started to tense myself up for a quick getaway and said something hoping to distract him, "If that's all why'd you bring all the back up. Are you scared." His smile twisted into a grimace.

"I ain't scared of nobody. The backup is just to make sure you don't get away before I'm done." He gestured his head and every one around me prepared themselves they kept it as casual as they could among the pedestrians but it was clear they were waiting for me to move. Some started to hold some types of energy, others began to glow, and more started to cover themselves in various minerals or metals whether power based or weapons they brought with them.

"My master wants to offer you a position in his organization here in the city. You'd be paid well for taking out his targets in exchange you would work exclusively for him and do whatever he needed you to do." He took out what appeared to be a disposable phone and tossed it towards me. I reached up and caught in my hand. "I could care less if you say no. In fact I'd rather enjoy it as I'd get the go ahead to get rid of you. I'll be taking my leave now the numbers programmed in. You have twenty four hours to decide call when you say yes. If you don't we start by hurting those around you and then we make you wish that we started with you."

I remained absolutely silent through this whole ordeal staring daggers at him as he casually waved his hand, turned around and walked away with everyone else disappearing as well. That is everyone that wasn't a civilian. The hostility had disappeared but not the foreboding feeling running up my spine.

I would have to get information and fast. No matter how big or powerful an organization like this the smart leaders would deal with someone like me cautiously. The timer was just a way of saying "after this point we declare war". I had till tomorrow to get even one decent member to help with this assassination.
