Chevy

After several weeks of classes and several uncomfortable avoidances ,I met up with Jessie in the parking lot with the intent to talk to him about why I was avoiding him. I gazed at the side walk thinking to my self as I strolled towards the lot where he parked his truck . He drove a classic Chevy pickup, dark blue with grey interior and step sides. A true sight to behold. I dont think it ever saw dirt, it shined like a polished jewel. Jessie, had the hood of the truck up and his head deep within as if he was searching the darkest cavity for some unknown item.

"What's she got under the hood?" I questioned leaning thru the window checking out all the details.

"Nothing special, standard 350. I built her to last not to hotrod." he explained

" Well I think you've done a hell of a job man shes nice."

"Thanks" he spurted out half surprised he got a complement.

"Did you buy it like this?"

" No, I bought the frame with my dad back my Freshman year of high school. Worked my ass off and bought the tranny and engine. By the time my SR year arrived, I was adding the last of the details you see now."

I shook my head acknowledging I was listening and he continued.

" I've still got alot left I'd like to do to it but money is tight ya know" lowering his head.

"Well I personally thinks shes perfect. You should be proud of what you've done not many people can start a project like this and finish it." I explained walking around the bed of the truck dragging my hand along the tailgate.

"Parker?"

"Hmm"

"Wanna grab a bite with me?"

"sure" .....oh shit my body froze, my hands glued to the tailgate of the truck. My feet felt like that had cement blocks tied to them. My heart was racing , I answered not thinking. Keep calm it's just friends going to eat nothing more. I must look like a damn idiot. Should I tell him? No we aren't that close yet. Soon, I should do it soon though. I seriously need to get this shit over with.
